Hands down the best update to this bike that reuses stock controller is a battery upgrade. Nermak makes a lithium iron phosphate battery (LiFe PO4), which should last for years as it is a deep cycle battery that claims to operate for 2000+ cycles. These batteries also weigh in at half the weight of the original lead acid batteries. The 12v (12.8v), 10ah is a nice 40% capacity increase, taking it from roughly a 25 minute ride to about an hour (only the 12.8v, 10ah is a direct fit). And the great thing about this upgrade is it is a drop in replacement. No modification necessary EXCEPT for reusing the old battery cables to install on the new batteries(Two 12v batteries wired in series). This comes at a cost. The newer batteries are 89.99 for the pair. But again, for those using as a hand me down and investing for the long term (no overvolting), check out these newer batteries, you wont regret it!
I plan on upgrading to those Nermaks. I'm getting tired of replacing SLA batteries. I assume I would no longer be able to use the stock charger that came with the MX350 anymore?
@@gavysp I completely forgot to mention that, yes, youll need a charger for the new battery type, and perhaps a clever setup to make future charging convenient.
I added two 12 volt 8ah lithium batteries, everything else stock. After about 5 seconds of riding the bike just shuts off… You sure lithium are just a drop and go with a stock system?? I thought they would be…
So to save the extra effort of changing out the controller, I believe I read you can just swap the throttle and plug it into the original controller. Is that correct? I realize it is a better controller but the extra speed is of no interest to me. I can just save the controller in case I Need it.
First thing my son said was why can't I go slower why does it always have to be on fast. His words 4 years old. Why do people get on here just to hate? You gave us some instructions it's our choice. If the person constantly hating and bickering has a noob or a delinquent for a child then so be it. Let them ride around nice and slow and comfortable that's fine.
I have 2 CT-02 speed controllers one has 3 more wires 1 extra in the switch ley harness a 2 more as the brake light. Both are 24v 500 watts and 40 amp power rating. So my question is ¿ Can the motor handle the output of the controller in terms of the Watts and Amps ?
Anyone know the variability of the controller? That is, how many jumps it makes to full power? The stock is on/off ... full power or no power which is scaring the hell out of my 3 year old. He's fine on the road (exactly where I don't want him), but, and when combined with 0 suspension on the MX350, full power is too much off road. Thanks in advance to anyone kind enough to respond.
I've had 2 of these controllers, they are nice, but don't get them wet or they will go full throttle on you and lock that way......at like 3am in your garage while everyone is asleep. It happened twice to me and I gave up on them.
Ordered a new speed control for razor mx 350 everything but one black wire to the on/off switch match,on control "original"it has 15 wire leads the new one has 14.it seems to not have a black lead that hooks into the on/off? Do I need to just send it back.thank you for any insight or ideas that may help
Where can I get that battery. I really need one meant for a speed controller. If that doesn't work I need a new speed controller which will piss me off cause it's brand new and doesn't work
What is the point of this mod? What time trying to accomplish is more battery life and possibly a little more speed ? Can anyone recommend a good how-to video for that? Im thinking possible 36v conversion with extra batteries 🤷🏽♂️. ??
@Marjan Martini -Yes you can. I just installed the 24v variable speed system and it works great! It could be a 30 minute or so job but I really took my time and conformal coated the internal components and silicone filled the harness passthrough grommets. I'm hoping for 100% protection against water/dirt. This is a great mod and our 7 year old says she loves it. No more pulsing the throttle, she says. Also, if the power switch light stays on all the time, just unplug the black (ground wire) going from the switch to the charge port.
I love this I found a cheaper one but I'm watching all the videos I'm so excited it's easy to hot wire but I live in kind of a ruff area and I will be fitting a tracker as my other one got stolen I mainly want it for the key I found one for 14£ and can't wait it's off wish 😑do it's probably going to take forever to get here but o well where in quarantine so what else shall I do but a project haha you should post more I would like to see another video on how it's working in 2020

Not worth the headache for a little more speed and to top it off , drain the battery faster ! I think 14mph for a 3-5 year old is fast enough . This is a starter bike to introduce kids into motorcycling .My son is 6yrs old and has the MX350 and he enjoys it very much but has had a few spills with no major incidents. He is always supervised and wears safety gear ,when he rides. I think this Razor MX350 stock is plenty fast and is a great starter for those younger kids. If you want fast ,then I suggest buying a gas powered dirt bike. But I feel that this Razor MX350 is a great starter, just the way it comes stock!
Ron Mitchell Two points, 1- This is a good option when your controller fails. Because it will at some point. 2- it gives your child more control over the speed, instead full throttle or nothing. It's not worth the upgrade for speed alone, as that is negligible.
But why bother with all that customizing , when you can get the original stock parts ? All is needed to do ,is plug in ,mounts right up , no hassles , no cutting any brackets to fit. As far as speed control , the twisting throttle is what you find on a regular dirt bike , therefore giving good practice for advancement .I'm just saying , that I find these modifications ridiculous and expensive. If someones wants to make changes to fit their own needs , then so be it. I just don't find this kind of hassle to be worth the extra work or expense for such a small result. Another thing is that these modifications also void any warranty .
This requires the same amount of labor to install, and the same cost. OEM part from Razor is $39.00. I paid $39.00 for the aftermarket part. The seller recommends mounting the controller using zipties. I made the bracket because I could. Aside from making a simple bracket I'm not sure I follow your argument. The stock throttle is a twist style, without any control. The aftermarket is a twist throttle with control, just like you would find on a gas dirt bike. So by your argument the after market throttle would actuallyhelp your kids transition easier to a gas dirt bike. Thanks for the comment.
So the base to my argument is this , Why not just buy the OEM parts? Why the Fast Scooter aftermarket control box? What was your reasoning for this modification? Is the bike faster? Does this modification drain the battery faster? What are your end results and was it worth it? I and others would agree that zip ties would not be stable enough at keeping the control box in place, after all ,there is no suspension to this bike frame . Like I said before , if someones wants to make these kinds of changes , so be it! In So , therefore voiding the warranty! I just don't see the need , myself, not worth the 1-2 mph . The only thing that I would like to see changed or modified to the Razor bikes , is adding some sort of suspension . Other than that, I think Razor has made a nice durable kids starter bike and I hope that you can agree with that.
I had already purchased the variable speed controller so my three year old daughter could go slower than 14 miles an hour and was just curious to know if 26 volts had more jam than 20 volts. Now my daughter can drive as slow or as fast as she likes and is far more comfortable riding her bike.
How much faster is the bike/speed after this complicated and lengthy kerfuffle? Reading all 50 comments, watching the video, Mr JC mumbles on and on but I only understand like 40% of what he is saying. Like wow. Are you trying to teach or convince other professional auto engineers and mechanics, or you offering this video to other parents. Just wondering.

The controller needs some attention to seal it up, but having the variable throttle is MUCH better than the stock on/off switch. Thanks!
can you send me a link to where I can buy this?

It better match. These companies aren't the brightest bulbs
Doesn't match unfortunately
What kind of battery does this guy have. Is it the original battery that came with the bike?

Does it go any faster. How long is battery life.
Will the upgraded ESC controller handle 36 volts?
NO it will fry out i found out the hard way😭😭

Can you link where you got this and also how do you charge the bike can you use the stark charger
Good video but u should have done a step bye step how to.
Hi what does this do?? Does it make it faster
Where can I get that battery. I really need one meant for a speed controller. If that doesn't work I need a new speed controller which will piss me off cause it's brand new and doesn't work
Do you think I could use that with a 1000w motor swap bike should rely move then
Does it need this or can you just put a 48v battery in and have it run?
Which store should I buy it from where they sell that I dont want to do online
My throttle battery indicator just stays at red and I don’t know what to do
Fix?
Is it any faster than stock
So u don’t need buy new battery’s and motor

What about charging mine works fine but wont charge.
Wait does it make the mx350 faster?
How fast do it go now
Does the speed kit make it go faster?
yes
How has it held up since you installed? Are you noticing a faster battery drain or any other issues?
I have not seen any faster battery drains, and it is still going strong.
Im guessing its trashed now?
@@edgarh252 Yea hows it now?
September 2020. How is the controller holding up for you?
I just received mine and about to make the switch.

Will this work for their smaller version? The MX125.
With as slow as the smaller one is, you really don't need it.
Thank you
Mine doesn’t work 😢
Dose it make it go Faster ?
Did it make it faster or no?
Ever so slightly.
I need to know the wiring connections, can u teach me how? Its for my project. Thankss
I had the same problem If you search blueprints razor electric scooter, It comes up with the wire configuration
Guys, I not even done watching the vid but i sub'
how to conect the throtle?
How do u get the throttle on
Does this have reverse on it i know its a bike but does it have the reverse option on the esc
What? That isn't possible with a freewheel. Think about the rear wheel for a moment.
I love this I found a cheaper one but I'm watching all the videos I'm so excited it's easy to hot wire but I live in kind of a ruff area and I will be fitting a tracker as my other one got stolen I mainly want it for the key I found one for 14£ and can't wait it's off wish 😑do it's probably going to take forever to get here but o well where in quarantine so what else shall I do but a project haha you should post more I would like to see another video on how it's working in 2020

can't we just plug a custom throttle on the original controller ?
Yes but this controller is better. It gives you the full voltage instead of being limited to 21v

How did you do the wiring fr 6-4 pin
How would you charge it ?
