- This mother lioness was spotted cooling off in the water at Duba Plains Camp in Botswana. Her cubs then started swimming with her, but as they are still small, they could not stand comfortably in the water, so swimming was hard, and they had to get out. The cubs were unhappy to be separated from their mom, so they were spotted going in and out of the water a few times.

Those babies are SO CUTE! We have got to do something to stop lions from being hunted and killed. They are too precious, and, like other wildlife, too important to our world.
i mean this is just beyond, so they were scared but went all in, and then just was enough a few seconds in and went all back to the safety of the grass nice and dry and mama gave a lick to each just like saying "ok ok my little ones see its not dificult, good job"

Sometimes it just takes a few steps into the water to get the hang of it.

She must have staked out that pool for a long time. I see she chose a spot where there was grass in the water, nothing is sneaking up on her.

Really cute scene...but the lioness is in the water because she is avoiding having to nurse the cubs. The cubs are begging to nurse, but mama isn't wanting to at the moment. That's a smart move to avoid nursing...lol.
Africa’s big cats generally don't like water. But in Botswana's Okavango Delta they have no choice. Their hunting grounds are flooded desert plains or savanna. The sooner the cubs get used to the swamps, the better. Otherwise, they will starve to death.

I love the tiny roars of lion cubs! Mom rewarding each of them when they swam to her. This is why I love lions!

She gave each one a kiss as it swam towards her. That was cute. How does she go about checking for crocs before taking them for a swim? She didn't seem a bit on her guard for any danger.
Lions, especially with cubs, are very aware of their surroundings. She's using her many years of knowledge and instincts to assess the area, and, although will always remain alert, has deemed it safe for now!

Crocodiles were my first thought too. But I figured she knew what she was doing, but I still worried about all their safety
Crocodiles live in rivers in low lying areas. As we can see here, the water is not moving, so it's not a river. Rather a pond. The water is quite clear and clean. So it's higher up or in the mountains. No crocs there.
