I never had this kit as a kid but there was a built clear one on display at a local hobby shop. I drooled over that car every time my mom took me there. Later I built both versions of the street Charger and the General Lee. It's an awesome kit for sure.
I had the c.1984 issue -- modified - reissue -- 'Street Machine' version of the 1/16 scale Charger some years ago . I was quite impressed with the details of the engine and transmission ; casting numbers ! Separate bellhousing ! Separate clutch ! I am so tempted to purchase this restored version --- I just may do that .
Me mate had the Street Machine version in the mid 80s and i also had a real one blasting round my town in Essex Uk around that time- so this kit is on my wish list to make a replica.
Hey Chris. Nice reissue, I have an older unit that is only 3 years old. Same detail but with White body and Orange strips on the decal. Trivia for This model also shares the same chassis with the Dukes of Hazard Charger. i have been working to change it back to a real car.. Nice Kit the size is fantastic.
The King rules!! I ordered some stuff from Model Roundup and I see your builds are featured with the model kits for sale. Way to go Chris a great compliment to supplement the kits at Model Roundup!
I've never built this kit but I'd see it on the shelves of department stores and hobby shops in my teen years when I went to them on Saturdays to hunt down my next 1/25 scale car model to build mainly from MPC of course. It was my model car maker of choice then. But I'm still glad that it's back in production.
I remember building this kit back in the '70's but I recall that the body was clear plastic. Could it have been made by someone other than MPC? I definitely remember those jack stands. Anyway, I'll be looking forward to your build video on this one for sure.
Great review very detailed kit hope to see a full build. Definably getting one of these. Big Petty fan here. Thanks for sharing have a great weekend Chris.
I had this car when I was a kid! But, the body was clear. So, you could see all the details. I painted it mine . Then it got lose in my first move from being in the Military. From Ft Hood to Germany. Like most of my models from 32 years of service.
That's a good looking kit Chris I want to say I think they release that also with the clear body so you can see all the details underneath the car body I bet you're dying for them to come out with the Petty superbird 👍👍
You are correct. The original release of this back in '73 had the body molded in clear plastic. I read someplace that when round2 acquired the molds from mpc, and decided to re-release this kit a few years back, they were going to do it again in clear, but gave some explanation about not being able to get the formula correct for the clear? I think it had more to do with cost.
I haven't noticed the real metallic mesh that is installed instead of headlamps in the grill. Is it part of the kit as it was in the original transparent kit ? It was my first big project. Lead me to the Tamiya 1/6 Harley-Davidson.
There’s a flea market near me where a booth has tons of those late 80s eary 90s nascar models still new sealed for 10$ each. You think those are worth building still? Stickers can’t possibly still be ok, what’s your opinion ?
I have dedicated trolls who just follow my channel to complain and thumbs down. Oh well. We'll let them be miserable and the rest of us will keep having fun!
Well, that's too big for me, not enough place to display it without it falling into the paws of my two cats. Tho, I wish you'll show it to us once you finish it and tell us if you had any issues building it.

I am 55 now. I was 8 when I went to Kmart and bought and assembled this kit. Wow! Thanks for the memories!👍
Very cool!
Built the K&K Insurance #71 when I was a kid. Love to do it again some time and detail it to the nines.

The old "giant" MPC Charger!!
Gotta' love it, especially if your a NASCAR/Petty fan!! 👍👍👍
Nice vid, nice build Chris.............. 😉 🙂 👌
That kit is old and Cool, but how about doing your version of a build...I think most of us oldschool/old timers would appreciate it
YES! Another reissue of a "holy grail list" kit. Those jackstands look stronger than the ones at Harbor Freight.
A man who insults harbor freight, is no man
Just ordered it, looking forward to building it
DARRIN J. HOLLY COW WHAT A CAR
Wow thats a big scale looks great great detail and awesome kit thanks for sharing Chris
Thanks 👍
I actually owned the clear body kit when it came out around 1973 or 74, Very cool model for a 11 year old to have then.
Thanks for the quick look at an amazing kit.
yes , I want that
Robert
Ordered mine thanks Chris.
I actually bought this kit for my brother, but it came with a clear body. It's pretty cool. Thank you for reviewing it.

Yup, hence why the Lee sits 'funny'. Still a cool big scale kit of it. :)
I built mine with the clear body, decals. chassis / susp molded black and functional.
That is really a very detailed kit - thanks for showing us.

If you build it, could you possibly detail how to mask for the 2 tone paint scheme? Thank you for the review!
Haha, Chris = the king of one liners! This episode was a good one!
Thanks!
Great open box wow that is a big nice kit. Thank you for the information. Have a great weekend

Very cool kit! A great setup for a NASCAR pit diorama.
Never seen a stock car this big before
At last - the Petty pinnacle!
I so would love that model kit :)
PLEASE build this one soon!
I remember when I was young I got that kit it looks 100 percent better than it did 40 years ago guess they retooled it
This is Hugh! Want to see it built!
Please come out with the K&K version!!! great kit got to get one to keep my older issue company!
@@theragingdolphinsmaniac4696 thanks! maybe I can find one!

Thanks for watching!
great looking kit! unfortunately no hobby shops around my area!

Thanks for watching!
Nice kit .. Great Review Chris
Glad you like it!
Chris, was this kit also used as the base for the 1/16th General Lee? With a 69 Charger body of course
For sure.
You bet, and the 'Street Charger' kits too.
Awsome kit, nice 👍
Thanks 👍
Looks like a great kit. Rick ✌️
Yeah!
Great review My Friend!
Hopefully they will do that blown Street Charger version next
The General Lee body as a stockish 1969 Charger would be cool too.
Anyone notice the "[Buddy] Baker" markings on the chrome tree?
The Buddy Baker kit is identical, just with different decals.
bought one yesterday
Enjoy!

It was my first big project.
Lead me to the Tamiya 1/6 Harley-Davidson.
Everything in the kit is in the video, so if it's not on screen it's not in the box. :)

That's the going rate for those kits.
Decals can be replaced at modelroundup.com
They need to make a 24th or 25th version of this kit
Salvinos JR has a 73 and 71 in 1/25 dropping in a month or so.
This kit is awesome will get one for sure this is when Nascar was Nascar not this clown show now
I thought for sure you'd have given us a "Spoiler Alert" - but I guess it was already on the box art.
😎💪👍
More Chrysler greatness. The nine thumbs down are probably GM jerks.

Gteat stuff mate👍
Thanks for the visit!

Never been this early before
Chris I was so disappointed when I clicked to watch the video and realized it was only a review one😭😭
I don't think they ran the 426 Hemi in '73.
They did. Hemi was outlawed in the aero cars (Daytona/Superbird) in 71. Was fine in the 71 and up Charger.
I bought this kit. A lot of flash, a lot of the parts didn't fit well, and the body was three shades lighter blue then the hood.
