So happy to hear about the lack of input delay compared to most versions of MvC2. That was probably my biggest gripe with Street Fighter 30th despite the amount of games and extras available there and it seems like every Capcom fighting game compilation from that point on has been a massive improvement in just the playability of the games I have a PS4 copy on pre order and I'm definitely preloading on Steam when that's available. Doing my part to ensure Gambit returns in a fighting game one day
11:46 nope, that’s not nearest neighbor. Nearest neighbor is actually the “pixel perfect/no filter” that you like. If you can see individual pixels and it’s not smoothed, THAT is what nearest neighbor is. What’s shown here is probably closer to a bilinear filter, but could also be a hqx or xbr type.
Display Size: Full will likely be a stretched nearest neighbor, mvc2 being native 640x480(?).. I think only x3 integer scaling would fill a 1440p (QHD) monitor vertically with no stretching, while FHD/UHD would have it present. A newish game like TMNT Shredders Revenge acts in a similar fashion when the native resolution of its assets isn't an integer of the display, integers then stretches the rest of the way.
But weren't pixels smooth through like tube TVs and they came off looking nicer as opposed to just Raw pixelation? Like developers knew that especially like people that worked on games for the Home console let alone arcade machines that have CRTs on them
@@TheBanisher24 people have been having this discussion for ages - that’s what the CRT filters are for, but max specifically doesn’t really cover those/ say he likes them. Though, real CRT and scanline filters (like this collection has) are very different. In my personal opinion, sprites like the dark stalkers ones which lack shading and depth (but animate beautifully) look better on a CRT, as it gives them extra “texture”. In the end though, it’s all up to personal preference. As to your second question, some devs definitely took it into consideration, while others didn’t. For instance, the original super Mario bros planning docs draw the sprites out right, and have no mention of changing how it looks for a CRT.

Nearest neighbor would be the normal big pixels mode, that smoothed one is a specific algorithm I forgot the name of like Lacuz2x or something. Nearest neighbor means it takes the color of the nearest pixel to the point and displays it fully. It's great for upscaling pixels without smoothing, or for downscaling upscaled pixels.

The screen filters in Capcom Fighting Collection are some of the best I've seen in an official emulated game. Obviously not as good as what "unofficial" emulators have but they're quite good. Glad to hear that they're all here in MvC Collection. Also it goes without saying, but anyone who wants the Switch version should probably wait to see what reviews say about input lag, or just get the PC version because even a low spec PC (or maybe even laptop) is going to have a much faster CPU than the Switch. edit: also just to be That Guy, technically "nearest neighbor" scaling is a simple pixel upscale. So the crisp pixel scaling is actually nearest neighbor. The smooth filter is some kind of algorithmic scaling like 2xSai for example.
The nerfed XvsSF is a bit of a deal breaker for me. The game is known specifically for the infinites and we didn't need another bastardized version of the game, we already have that. It's called Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter.
Justin and yipes had nothing but great things to say about the collection and so does max....yeah this is gonna be fuckin AMAZING. I'm very happy for the X-Men vs street fighter version too. We don't need the version with incredible simple infinites for the op characters when there is ranked online.
I may be the only one or in the minority but the marvel Capcom vs games are my favorite games of all time in my life! When other games get stale or boring I always can be excited playing X-Men vs Street fighter or MVC then now and for life!
As a old school arcade fighter player. I can't freaking wait. I want to double dip for the Playstation and switch versions. I definitely agree how much lag the PS2 versions had back in the day. Definitely need a fight stick for both.

Nerfing is no problem for me....
I learned my combos on PSX
Having this collection handled on the switch will be amazing ❤
Already have the cash set aside.
Justin and yipes had nothing but great things to say about the collection and so does max....yeah this is gonna be fuckin AMAZING.
I'm very happy for the X-Men vs street fighter version too. We don't need the version with incredible simple infinites for the op characters when there is ranked online.
DREAMCAST WAS THE ULTIMATE CONSOLE!!!!
Man I've been playing this during the 90's! Haha and my team is always Wolverine and Sabretooth.
And yes take Max warning.
If you see someone using a Sabretooth be cautious its really broken in this game.
Will be picking this up on Switch 👍🏼
I think I will have a great time with this version. I'm strictly mvc3. But I've been on this channel for years at this point and Ive wanted to support anyway I can for a new game.
He’s right about the PS3 version, the lag. I thought my controller was messed up.
I’m buying this twice to support great gaming company’s! Who’s with me?
