Australian MG4 charging using a Tesla mobile connector charger - up to 6kW!

  • The MG4 includes a (very) slow charger. It'll do the job if you don't drive much, and let it charge overnight. However, if you want some better options, you can try other mobile chargers that'll let you charge faster, take the charger with you on road trips, and maybe even save a little bit of money?
    Some options:
amzn.to/47bhAYb MCEVKELN charger has 10A and 15A tails - so if you've got a spare 15A socket already installed this is a reasonable option for higher charge rates.
ts.la/tim750065 Tesla Australia sell the Tesla Mobile Charger as shown in my video.
amzn.to/40Dxjg4 INCHARGEx 32A 5 pin single phase - this is the equivalent of my Tesla mobile charger with attached 5 pin 32A tail.
amzn.to/3QzQrqL For those with a MG4 Long Range 77 and wanting the maximum 11kW charge rate, this is a suitable charger.
amzn.to/3QzkhvO Tesla Wall Charger (one of the cheapest AND best wall chargers you can get) able to be installed in single or three phase. However, not a portable solution.
(Note for the 32A "high power" solutions you'll need to get an electrician to install a 3 or 5 pin socket, or wire up a wall charger) Disclaimer: These are Amazon affiliate links - I earn a small commission on sales which help support the channel and to produce more videos.

My MG4 standard edition charges at 1.8 kilowatts when half full. My 32 amp tethered charger charges at 6.6 kilowatts when half full.

Is the 32A wall socket 3 pin or 5 pin?

Good info but not really comparing apples to apples. A tesla charger plugged into a std 10a PowerPoint isn't going to behave any differently to the std MG one. The key difference is the higher 32A wall socket and tail. Btw, Possibly swipe down on the app as a forced refresh might update the rate to match that showing on the car..

Small difference between the MG4 8A charger and the Tesla 10A charger, but every little bit counts! But neither as good as a charger on 32A of course.

It's the MG4 Standard range onboard charger that determines the maximum charge rate, a 32A supply will enable higher (7.4Kw) on many EVs including the MG4 long range.
