Ek advice hai! If you dont have in-depth knowledge about the Airmiles subject, please avoid giving any wrong advice on it. Lufthansa Miles can be used to even book Air India Domestic or Intra-Europe Short Haul Flights and many such Star Alliance member flights. Qatar Avios can be used to a range of One World Alliance flights. Avios are extremely useful for Short-haul flights in Europe and USA which can be booked at as low as 5-6K Avios.

Let's say you have AMEX PLAT CHARGE, after the first year can you ask AMEX to downgrade you to PLAT TRAVEL or MRCC if you decide that you don't want to pay 70k annual fees. How does this work can you please clarify?
