    Simracing is difficult. Learning how to drive fast takes time, dedication and persistence. Assetto Corsa Competizione is one of the best simulations with highly sensitive aerodynamics that want to be respected. Telemetry, such as motec helps with analyzing car behavior and finding major issues in the car setup or driving style. Special sim racing hardware also helps with becoming better, but certainly is not the solution to your problems. Load cell pedals offer better feel. Stronger but most importantly more detailed force feedback of e.g. direct drive wheels offer more immersive sensations. Though I know and I've seen throughout the years, people with entry level hardware perform on top level.

    Thanks for this. I'm a first year Rookie and I'm going to drive the Mustang for the first time in a full season. First race is at Spa.
    That said, my practices have been productive as we get to know each other. I've adjusted bump stops front and rear a click or two at a time. The front bump is fairly close in stop range. The rear has a touch more range.
    I don't have to much rake in the chassis, varying about 5 meters between front and rear.
    Traction control I've set TC1 is 3. TC2 at 4.
    Going to try your advise on the TC and see how it feels. After what you said, I might not be giving TC a chance to engage fully.
    Trail braking this car, it didn't take me long to get use to, driving in a bit deeper each corner to find a limit and not oversteer to badly on exit.
    I understand what you were saying about throttle control in mid corner, to exit and helping the car rotate. For some reason, I can feel the rotation in the Mustang more than other cars I've driven. Could be I just finally have reached a level where I'm noticing and understanding what I'm feeling more, IDK.
    Sorry my setting info is vague, but I'm writing this at work.
    Your channel and content are superb. Thanks!👍

    On the topic of dampers, the one thing that's important to remember imo are the fast dampers on tracks where either you need to ride the kerbs a lot or the track is just very bumpy by default. But the Mustang specifically just takes them like a champ in almost every situation.

  • @cards7651
    @cards7651 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Just finished watching the onboard camera of car 77 at Le Mans…ACC sure captured the Mustang’s sound …also, the overall car in general…I agree with all the items you discussed here but regarding the dampers….certain corners at the Nurburgring for example, the dampers are a huge help…turn 2 especially…quick way to dial out the snap oversteer as you apply power AFTER the crest of the hill…
    Also, I have Motec workbooks that I have developed and use since GT2 ….I am asking if you could share your timing section split times during your testing…gives me a bench mark to shoot for…but since I right foot break and still use my very old Logitech MOMO RED wheel…and my reflexes are not what they were…but at 74, I am still in within 3.5 % on most tracks….other than the tracks with more low speed corners….still working on those….but, overall, your TH-cam vids are a great pleasure and some of the little hints are just what I need to gain a tenth here and there….many thanks …great presentation

    Fantastic Guide! I need to check out the data packs. I really love the sound of the Mustang and it actually sounds fantastic in real life. I've seen it at the WEC in Spa this year. Unfortunately somehow I can't get it to work for me.. but probably the Mustang is not a car for me. I'm one of the weirdos driving the Honda :)

  • @RacingPCs

    I fell out of ACC. So much to try this year: LMU, iRacing then the new ACE. Also I was driving the 296 and while such car is very enjoyable on some tracks, like Kyalami, it is absolutely orrendous in others, like Imola, or where there are curbs as the car literally flies touching them. It's also fundamentally ugly to drive as an experience. So I'm kind of trying to find a car to race once in a while in ACC. I'm not sure if the Mustang is such car or I have to shift to the Aston or whatever. One car that doesn't fly and it's nice to drive. Thing is a bundle done by yourself, with Popo behind and some work on my side surely can help in progressing and driving more meaninfully.

  • @Freddy_Merckx
    @Freddy_Merckx 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Thank you so much for this nice tutorial!
    I am currently looking into purchasing one of the data pack bundles but I lean more towards the 296. I saw that most of the setups for the 296 are still for 1.9.8 or earlier. Are the older setups still good in 1.10.2? When purchasing one of the data packs, are you also eligible to receive free updates for the setups (eg going from 1.9.8 to 1.10.2)?
    Is there any thumb of rule how long it takes for such updates? Cheers, Freddy

    • @SimracingPopometer
      @SimracingPopometer  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      yes, if there are updates to a data pack from within a bundle, then you also just get access to that, you also get a notification if anything changes so you dont miss it. 1.9.8 and 1.10 dont differ to degrees that would render setups unusable from the previous patch. most cars are also unchanged. there were only a few kg adjusted for a few cars, to correct the base BOP a little. plus, yes, something on the dampers, but i dont think its too effective.
      there's no schedule however as to when a certain creator does their updates. between 1.9.8 and 1.10 they will likely not make changes as it should all still work. in any case: read the description what the target of the setups was for the creator or just send them a DM on discord if unsure!

    How differently do you approach cornering with a shorter wheelbase car like the Aston vs the longer wheelbase cars like the BMW/Ford? Does it also change how much suspension travel you allow?

    • @SimracingPopometer
      @SimracingPopometer  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      i dont think the wheelbase changes much. maybe you dont need to be as aggressive with the aston to convince it to turn, but it also has other options for that (more rake possible, more negative toe possible, smaller spring steps for fine tuning, better weight distribution than the ford, different aero map...)

    You can try to calculate the ride height changes for cars that are used in ACC and iRacing. ACC uses wheel rates, iRacing uses spring rates. With that information you can calculate the motion ratio for the rear and the front suspension of a given GT3 car. You can then create a math channel that calculates the actual wheel/suspension travel using the motion ratio and damper travel values. This is of course still not as accurate as a ride height sensor, but better than nothing.

      you can use the suspension movement and calibrate the stationary car in motec to match the setups ride heights. however, you don't know at which angle the suspension sits in the wheelhouse so you have only an assumption of what the ride height does. someone else commented starting with the wheel rates in the setup - which is probably a more precise method but you also need to be better with maths

    • @SimracingPopometer
      @SimracingPopometer  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      its never a simple answer, cause it depends on the driver error you do on top of the setup: however, its inherent to the ford, higher TC will help, but also stiffer front springs compared to rear, same for the anti roll bars, or simply a lower rear ride height. it all depends on the setup you currently have

    can you give a little bit of insights how the rear bump range impacts not only traction on exit, but also when the car brakes heavily into corners. Is it true, that with high rear bump range the rear lifts very high into corner brake, and thus the car gets more unstable?

    • @SimracingPopometer
      @SimracingPopometer  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      no. the bump stops are active on compression, not lift

    • @SDRaygon
      @SDRaygon 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The more bump range in the rear, the more you allow the suspension to more, depending on wheelrate the more stable it is, you want a soft rear and stiff front for most potiential brake stability

    • @Reetzah
      @Reetzah 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SDRaygonfor more stable braking you need stiff rear for it not to “slip out”. I never usually have problems in braking stability and love soft rear with low arb. But stiffer rear and higher arb should help in braking stability since rear will be more controlable. Soft rear - easy to turn, unstable, higher grip. Stiff rear, may be harder to turn, more stable, less grip.

    • @SimracingPopometer
      @SimracingPopometer  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      a stiff rear is only giving braking stability when a) the front is also stiffer and b) because of a stiffer spring extending less when you brake and thus you get a smaller aero balance change under braking, which means its only effective in aero dependant braking zones at higher speeds. but if you only stiffen up the rear spring and do nothing else, you will have a more oversteery car

    • @SimracingPopometer
      @SimracingPopometer  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      wie im video erklärt, mehr rake = mehr downforce vorne und hinten. mehr downforce = schneller in den kurven. den flügel abbauen hilft zwar, dass das heck sich wieder um die front dreht, aber die front hat trotzdem weniger grip wenn man mit weniger oder ganz ohne rake fährt. heißt: es fühlt sich zwar nach rotation an, aber man ist trotzdem langsamer dabei, weil die front einfach nicht mehr kann. man rutscht einfach früher über alle viere, die aero balance bestimmt nur wo es zuerst rutscht: hinten oder vorne
