    Danke Nils. Die Tipps sind wirklich sehr gut erklärt. Ich bin gerade in einem Umbruch wo ich fast überall meine Zeiten verbessere, einfach aufgrund der Erfahrung und Zeit die ich im rig verbracht habe. Im Training für ein 12h rennen habe ich das erste Mal eine 2:18:198 geschafft, aber pouhon war zum Beispiel immer eine der Kurven wo ich teilweise 2-3 zehntel wieder verliere über die Runde. Ich werde direkt Mal testen ob ich die Technik direkt übertragen kann.

    I think this was very well explained. I'm a beginner and I think I got it (do it is another thing of course). The short shift I have actually used quite much when driving cars with no TC. I did not think this was a 'thing' but rather that I 'cheated' and was actually losing time. Though this is probably true in many cases it IS good to know it is a viable technique that can actually be perfected and not only used because I'm not smooth enough on the throttle.

    as a novice i apply the first and last tip because 'it feels better'. I have big problems with stability of the cars and am a complete noob regarding to setups. The only driveable car for me is the Lexus LOL. I don't have the ability to see motec data because I am on PS4 (indeed the weakest link LOL). But this shows that sometimes 'guttfeeling' can be accurate. Nevertheless again a great vid and great content. keep up the good work and the good (sim)racing. Greetz.

    Have you ever made a "How to master the BMW M6 GT3" video? I love the BMW, but still missing like 3 seconds on most tracks compared to the aliens out there. Would love to learn more about the BMW, like what should/shouldn't you do and how to make the most out of it

      @@SimracingPopometer Haha it IS not car specific. In terms of driving skills i am lacking quite a lot. While people are doing 2.16s at Spa the best I ever got to was a mid 2.18. But see, the thing is I'm interested in hearing the ins and outs about the BMW from someone who drives it always and gets great results with it. But yeah, video idea maybe?

    zur AC beta vor über 7 Jahren habe ich mir als Student ein gebrauchtes G27 „gegönnt“
    ..Seit 3 Monaten probiere ich mich an ACC und auch dank deiner anderen Vids baue ich soviel Freude daran auf den Asphalt unter mir an der Grenze zu spüren, dass in 2 Wochen das CSL DD kommt. Man ist ja schließlich kein Student mehr ;))
    Wird sicher schwer später mal ein Rig vor meiner Frau geheim zu halten. :‘D

    there is a third technique you can use at pouhon. use the throttle to balance the rake and induce the oversteer and understeer in a very controlled manner.

      that doesn't make a lot of sense imo. the throttle doesn't control rake (of course a little but in the opposite direction and also neglectable in comparison to how much the brake affects it). it affects the differential. but if you do that you reduce turning capacity. it's a workaround when people are uncomfortable into a corner, but it's a driving error costing laptime (= not a technique) if you use throttle before actually accelerating. (leave the Porsche aside for a second)

      Looks just like a shibe though! :o I have a question mate? So I was racing on Monza last night, well actually I was just hot lapping but nevertheless, anyway when I brought tyres up to pressures 27.5ish the outsides, left front and rear were starting to go slightly yellow with overheating even though the pressures weren't peaking over the recommended psi's. Have you ever experienced this before, whats more important my temps or pressures, are my temps increasing because I've literally lowered my pressures too much or am I just scrubbing away at my tyres as I'm a noob lol. Tyres don't ever seem to reach outright yellow or red for temps it's just on the verge from going nice n bright green to green/yellow only on the lefts though, rights are fine. Hope doggo is doing well lol :)

      monza typically has warm weather and that will impact tyre temps as well. the standard way to address it would be to open the brake ducts a bit (which then also leads to pressure adjustments). I'd aim for an average of 27.8 around the lap more or less. Other than that the tyres are quite temperature tolerant in terms of grip. so nothing to worry i assume!

      Excellent mate great reply i had the ducts slightly more closed than normal so they could hold there temperature better along the straights but I guess its a compromise you either keep your brakes warm and cook your tyres or deal with slightly cold rear brakes coming into the likes of parabollica and the first chicane :(

    I thought all corners/cars used Pitch Induced Oversteer to rotate the car? Isn't that the whole point of trail braking? Thanks, good video.

      no, definitely not. the trail braking first and foremost is necessary to get the car to turn in under braking by freeing up grip on the front. roughly: the slower the corner the more unlikely you'll use that technique

      you surely mean the throttle blips on downshift? the game does that automatically. dont use the throttle when you want to slow down :)

    Great tips! One question about the last one - that would not be perfect for longer runs, since you're basically scrubbing the front tyres, causing understeer right? So you would eat through the tyres quicker this way?

      im showing it a bit more extreme here than you would apply it during the race. also its mostly just one or two corners where you really need it and then most cars have more rear tyre wear anyway, especially when setting them up rather loose - so you could even equalize the front and rear wear with this a bit

      😅 i ran out of time and the "flick" isnt that important afterall in gt3's. If anything you'd use it in the gt4's because of the inertia and lazy weight transfers.

      @@SimracingPopometer I found using a Scandinavian flick at a couple of turns at Paul Ricard is helpful in GT3, especially the final turn onto the start-finish. Have you done a video on driving techniques for GT4s before?

    I knew about the short shifting and the throwing techniques, just haven’t mastered yet. Especially in places like Sliverstone that promote that type of driving. The other two I had no clue about and if I’ve seen it in action before I never knew the name of the technique. Appreciate you breaking each of them down to see the differences in when you use it and when you don’t. That’s probably only 4 of like 40 lol

    Hi Nils. Great video, thanks. About no. 3 - I get the induced oversteer bit, but from the data I see a lower mid-corner speed (~3820m) but earlier throttle application. Can't see whether the latter makes up for the former though. Is it dependent on the length of straight that follows?

      don't take this data as the best data there could be. I've done this video all in a single attempt without any practice. So its not the ideal A vs. B scenario. The idea was to show the technique itself, not the particular gain.

    About the "throw the car" techinque, is it about how fast you turn the steering wheel, how much, or both? In other words, is it all about load transfer ?

      mostly about the speed of steering as that will not give the rear end enough time to build the grip and thus it steps out a bit

    Wow! I did not believe that I have actually use all of these techniques without realizing all the details. This is great explanation with motec. It clearly shows your point. Now, when do you use "throw the car" vs. "pitch induced oversteer" vs. "induced understeer"? My understanding from your video is that:
    1. Throw the car: Good for HIGH SPEED corner where you are TURNING while ACCELERATING. How: Turn faster (not more) with some throttle on.
    2. Pitched induced oversteer: Good for HIGH SPEED corner where you are TURNING while SLOWING DOWN. How: Trail braking with counter steering.
    3. Induced understeer: good for MEDIUM SPEED corner where you are ACCELERATING. How: Turn more than limit allows.
    Am I understanding correctly?

      just the 3rd part: you are decelerating into turn 2 nurburgring. you use it to scrub a bit excess speed, but enter a bit too quick (all margins are TINY here)

      this probably also works, but first gear helps rotate the car during the slow down phase

    I’ve run Brans hatch a 1000 times and I can’t get any faster than 1:27-1:29. I cannot see making up 5-7sec. It seems impossible. I’m running a dedicated cockpit and direct drive wheel. What am I doing wrong? th-cam.com/video/c0k6GMc2OFA/w-d-xo.html

      you're leaving a lot on the table by not using the track width fully for example - both on entry and exit. most of the time both pedals are pressed through a corner - why? you either want to accelerate or decelerate, not both. the car won't rotate with that much throttle applied.
      but there's plenty more. really do try to compare on popometer.io with any car really as your issue are of general nature, not car specific

      its a "sportline competition" - one of the recommended rims to use with the ascher button box

    Which time gap is still good to compete on high level on ACC…
    Is 1-1.5s slower then the absolute fastest on ACC good enough to still compete ? Because even in Real Life I see grid where there is a gap of 1-1.5s and they can still compete very well, especially in endurance races where consistenly high pace is key….

      I mean, you'd just be in a lower tier with people of your pace, so you'd be competitive there.

    Hi Coach, thanks for your video I find them so helpful. I am at a bottleneck in sim racing and don't know what to do, this video opened up a lot to me. As for throwing, this is exactly what I am missing in my way of driving and I was trying to avoid things like throwing because it's counterintuitive for me. So is throwing a technique for every car? or just the GT3s

      the best answer is: depends. the more downforce a car has, the less likely you'll need it. the heavier a car, the more likely

      Throwing in that corner means something different. Already a tiny input is enough for a severe change of direction
