    "You are now Fernando Valenzuela, you had 21 wins last season..."

    Thanks for post. Nice video quality. Fernando may not be in HOF but one of most fascinating years ever. Dodgers had almost zero shot at WS title without him. LDS game 4, down 2 games to 1, dodgers facing elimination, Fernando brilliant 4 hitter, Win. LCS game 5 dodgers facing elimination, Fernando dominating game, Wins. And World Series game 3 dodgers down 2 games to 0, a must win, Fernando battles to get the win. I don’t know if any rookie had more of an impact on a World Series champion team.

      Nuff said. What a stud he was for Lasorda. Money in the bank...

    This was Fernandomania. He was not at his best heading into the playoffs either. After starting out on fire, 8-0 in his first 8 starts: all CG's with 5 shutouts, an 0.91 ERA! An epic start for sure. However, Fernando stalled after that losing 5 of his next 7 starts while his ERA rose almost 2 full runs. Even though he won his 4 decisions, with 4 no decisions also, he ended the season on a 3 game losing streak. I remember there being worries of he was out of gas and would be bombed in the playoffs. He answered all those critics with some beautifully crafted games, as well as showing some true grit along the way to a ring. Epic Fernandomania.

    Fernando with barely a year in the big leagues was money in the bank for Lasorda. You'd think it was May or June seeing him so casual on the mound, cool as a cucumber, blowing bubbles, etc..."Just another game for me..." he said...What a stud he was.

    How the 2017 World Series should have ended. 🎉

      Screw the dodgers, they couldn't even win at home in game 7 and remember, they won a game at minute maid park during the world series 2017.

    Those were the good ole days when a strikeout was called a strikeout, and a game-winning hit was called just that instead of terms like "k" and "walk off." Fernandomania was in full swing. The TV broadcast sure was murky though.

      Your upset with the term walk off? Really?

      @@falco2911Those terms were created by your generation, I guess. Why change terms in baseball without reason? Also, back then, the pitchers had to bat. What do you think of that? I gave you a "like" in case you didn't know.

    I don't remember MLB having a divisional series back then since each league had only 2 divisions. Was this because of the strike that year which occurred partway through the season?

    • @falco2911
      @falco2911  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Yes, the strike split the season into 2 parts, and the teams with the best record in each part would play eachother in the division series, which is why 2 NL West teams are playing eachother here
