Thank you so much for this tutorial. My R2 button was busted and had no resistance. I found your guide, managed to get a pack of 10 springs on Amazon for 7 dollars CAD and I already have a precision screw driver set. I didn't have a pry tool so I just used a flat 2mm head like you did. Once I opened it up, I found the broken spring near the bottom of the controller. The only tricky part was getting the spring in. Had to use both my precision screwdriver to keep it in place with the 2mm head to move the spring arm into place. Got it after about the 5th try. I was about to buy another controller and your guide saved me. Overall this took about 15 minutes to do. Thank you so much!

@Username I forgot to mention that until now my DIY fix with the help of this video is doing a pretty solid work and I even replaced it with a stronger wire to be safe. I think it's even better than the original in terms of smooth button pushing and the adaptive triggers option
Thanks for the tutorial... I just followed along and replaced my R2 trigger today. Also you can find the dualsense springs on Amazon now, so both triggers will feel the same.
Holy shit... I had to put apart my Dualshock to get the spring out of that to place it inside the Dualsense. After I put the faceplate back on a surge of happiness and satisfaction overcame me. I've never done anything regarding fixing or something alike. I feel so happy!! Thank you
You made it look so easy lol. I battled with the spring for almost 2 hours to get it into place and not come undone or spring away while getting it into the right position. Bottom line though, you helped fix my controller, so thanks! 😅
Managed to do it. You have to have a pair of tweezers really. Get the spring loop on the centre piece and the bottom clamped in to the non-trigger part, and use your finger to jam them so they don't move, then get some tweezers to force the other part of the spring past the trigger and into the clamp. Gotta push your finger against the spring so hard it hurts a bit to stop it slipping, but it does work fairly easily this way.
Good one bro, o got some experience with DS4 this one seem easier cause there's no ribbon cable to bend or manipulate. I thought it was gonna be harder to fix. Very grateful
I took apart a DS4 to grab the spring for this DS5 fix, and the DS4 has less parts to disassemble but is much more fiddly. Pretty sure I broke a plastic clip in the DS4 and I was trying to be careful. The DS3 was a dream to take apart. Didn't even need a video.
I swear, The ps3 controller is easier to disassemble like butter. Then, opening a ps4 controller is like disablihg a bomb While the ps5 is just like disassembling a nuke, so many gears in the trigger, just one shard of plastic unknowingly got in there and the gears snapx

I thought about that but it wont fit on the plastic holder and it might actually just cause it to breal due to too much resistance. 1 spring is enough. Mine works wonder since then
hey thanks, man for the quick tip I used an old switch controller spring and it works great. like you said you can feel the difference but others won't know lol
Had my R2 break within 2 weeks playing cyberpunk. I thought I felt the adaptive triggers activating a wee bit while shooting and the spring snapped. Seems the exact same springs as the DualShock 4 are used and I won’t be surprised if all the extra vibrations makes them snap regularly
It's not using the exact same spring of the ds4. Thats actually the reason why it snaps. The ds4 ones are more flexible and has a good design compared to the thick and stiff stock spring of ps5.
@@GlennThoughts Well they appear identical. Can’t see why they wouldn’t carry over such a tiny and simple part. Plus I took apart an old PS4 controller, took out the spring, managed to stick in in my dualsense and it’s now indistinguishable from my other dualsense controller.

hey thanks, man for the quick tip I used an old switch controller spring and it works great. like you said you can feel the difference but others won't know lol
Hugely appreciated dude! Thanks
Works like a charm! Thanks! Btw I found easier to remove the R1 and L1 buttons from below by depressing their corresponding “2’s”
Thanks man,, all information were helpful,, starting from difference between ps4 and ps5 spring, ending with the procedure and tips to securely disassembling and then assembling
I just so happen to have a extra ds4 that I stoked the spring out of you’re awesome thanks man !!
wow thanks bro. you saved my controller
Recently i was fixing stick drift from the left side analog stick, but while i was disassembling the controller I snap a button flex ribbon that controls the L1/L2 buttons. Idk if I need to replace the piece or buy a whole new controller.
