I'm amused by the fact that the most liked comments here are from people kind of flaming this car - "Only 3 seconds faster than the 5 year old QV" , "Beaver grill looks like shit ". This is a 1.8T car , AWD - which generally meant understeer and not the best track performance , excluding the GTR which is a phenomenon - and the way it effortlessly flows and rolls around corners , steering inputs are instant , it perfectly touches the corner apex , it was perfectly predictable and seemed easy to drive - and in the end , it managed a 7:28 time. I think we should give credit where credit is due , the G series chassis is clearly very well tuned and engineered.
I prefer the Giulia, but the M4 is a great car
@@mrfrancy0154 that is a conpletely different topic - driving is a subjective experience , so prefering one car over the other is absolutely normal. But when speaking strictly of performance - the G chassis has an edge over the QV. The biggest review-ers in the business have validated this.

The M5 CS didn´t have those Michelin Cup 2 tires equipped ;) With the same tires it might be a few seconds faster. But still very impressive what the M4 did there...

Is it possible for someone to do a side by side of the M4 RWD vs M4 AWD using Sports Autos video? Would be great to see where the two cars perform differently given there's only 2 seconds between them.
don't forget the xdrive version used the Cup2* tires vs the Cup2 in the rwd version. If the rwd used the * version it would probably be as fast if not faster than the awd.

I think that compared with the model 10 years ago, the improvement of lap speed mainly comes from tires. The original tires of E92 m3 are still PS3（or PS2？）. I'm curious: if CUP2 tires were used uniformly, what would the stock car lap time of E92 m3 and F80 m3 be.

Faster, but not as fast as this. You're right that tire development has been significant. They also flattened out the track a little for safety, which helped the laptime by a couple of seconds
E92 on cup2s probably 10-15 seconds faster, same for M4

What's more amazing about this is that there's NOTHING in the Porsche line up that will touch this M4 at the price range. You'd have to double the price tag to get this level of performance.

I think the driver is just more confident in the x-drive,i reckon with someone that know what they are doing,the rwd would be faster.The x-drive is technically more disadvantaged.

992s don't wear sport cup 2 and that makes a huge difference. A 992 gts with cup 2 would be faster no doubts

@@maximborodyuk3773 exactly, even Porsche test drivers said that a CGT on modern tires would be at least 15 seconds faster than the old time. In general, engineers say that at least 30% of the lap times improvement of the modern cars is due only to tires.

The M5 is way faster in a straight line, but also is a more long, heavy car. So the m4 is faster in the corners, the m5 is faster in straights. Also the m4 is a little lighter than the m5 cs, and the car is a little newer. The cup 2 tyre is a little better than P zero corsa. So it is quite normal the result we see…

gear ratios are fine, it's the programming that isn't that clever, keeps insisting on using the lower gear for some reason, even though the car has plenty of torque and power. kinda surprised that the driver didn't use the completely manual shifting

@@mTwMarcoJa, aber es gibt den M4 in der Standardversion als Handschalter. Den haben sie auch über den Hockenheimring geschickt. Genau wie den Competition und den Competition xDrive. Nur über die Nordschleife haben sie leider nur die beiden Competition-Modelle geschickt.

Die Zeit ist echt krass, keine Frage. Aber irgendwie wirkt der ganze Ablauf sehr hektisch. Das Getriebe schaltet ab und zu mal wirr umher, dazu scheint es recht viel Untersteuern zu geben. Sieht einfach nicht so recht entspannt aus die ganze Fahrt.
So sehen doch alle Videos von ihm aus, liegt eher am Fahrer, als am Auto. Er ist in Schaltstufe 3 gefahren, deswegen die Schaltvorgänge. Wenn schon nicht selbstgeschaltet, hätte ich Stufe 2 gewählt. Denke damit wäre es noch etwas besser gelaufen, Stufe 3 reagiert sehr empfindlich bei der 8 Gang Automatik auf kleinste Änderungen am Pedal.

TOP AUTO. Mercedes GT 63 S did by Mercedes pro driver 7:27.80 sec. That BMW would smoke it easy with BMW pro driver or M5 CS on CUP 2 tires
Gt 63s did 7.23 on 20.6 km version of track , m5 and m3 both tested on 20.6km version of track . pro driver get few seconds faster but i dont think 6 seconds faster maybe on slicks because gt63 s compound was "stickier" special version of cup 2 also on amg gtr that has similar performance to cup 2 r

Which is the GTAm time? Have you evidence that awd M4 is faster than Gtam? The wing surfaces of the Gtam are adjustable, providing more downforce than the Quadrifoglio

Have you owned one? Not very conventional. M4/M3 is for when you can have your cake and eat it too. The GTR ride is harsh, leg room in the rear is non-existent, the interior is cheap and very, very outdated, transmission sounds like is about to fall off, gear changes are very laggy and you only have 6, and to top it all off, you have to deal with budget car customer service from Nissan. It used to be the sports car to have a few years back, but now they are very expensive for 14yr old technology? Besides, when was the last time you saw a GTR race competitively, finish the race, and win? Exactly. If you want a one-shot ICBM, the GTR is still king. If you want a daily driver that will kill most pray on the streets, M4 please ;)

I live in Germany and driven a lot of times on the Nordschleife with my Evo. I see a lot of GTR's every time and never see someone that have problems with this Car's...

There is a paragraph in the m4 owners manual that explicitly states that the m4 is not designed for track use and using it on the track may be considered a misuse of the vehicle which can lead to the warranty getting voided. And then BMW puts out this video, lol😪

I own a g80 m3 competition xdrive you must’ve misunderstood the owners manual. These are literal track ready cars there’s no question about it M3s were born on the track and only had racing history behind it nothing outside of that so Im not sure what you’re talking about. No warranty will cover if they deem track use was the cause of damage but they won’t void it if you track the car and prior to tracking the car something breaks or fails then they cover it so again don’t know what you’re talking about 😂 but it’s not misusing the car they were meant for track racing specifically with passenger seats and AC that’s about it

Laugh that the Nissan GTR has owned the Nordschleife for a fraction of the price of its neighboring competitors on that timesheet.

@@joejay2876 I did around 50 laps on the Nordschleife and did around 300 laps on the Zandvoort track in the Netherlands .
Anyway, a car 5 years younger than the Alfa with special track tires takes 3 seconds off a track which is 21 km long. That's nothing special dude , whatever you throw in my face about reliability ! And if you had done your homework , you would know that on average the Giulia Q is a reliable car !

Sowas ist absolut unvergleichbar. Man Weiss nicht, was beim Werkswagen, alles verändert wurde. Die Giulia, war bei alles anderen Tests, selbst dem Vorgänger M4 unterlegen.
Es gibt schon einen Grund, warum sich Alfa nicht traut, den Alfa an Sportauto Supertest zu überlassen. Die wissen, daß nicht mal Ansatzweise die Werkszeit erreicht werden kann.
Der Alfa wird locker eine 7: 50 bis 55 Fahren. Mehr auch nicht.
Doch Fanboys verstehen selten den Unterschied zwischen Werkszeit und Magazintest.
Der M4 Competition, wäre mit einem Werksfahrer auch bei einer 7:18.
Schade dass der Fahrer nicht rund und sauber fährt...

@@eliaspemmerl5152 i know it is for general driving and a bit spirited driving, i had a bmw f30 with the ZF8 in it so i know all about it. But the way it keeps changin down mid corner is stupid. At 1 point it even changed 2nd, 3rd, 2nd, 3rd in 1 turn.
Unless hes pullin the paddle too many times and confusing the box. Either way its not great.
yeah, it's really strange that they never fixed this. a simple reprogramming would make it infinitely better and it's 10 minutes of work

The 2022 Cadillac CT5-V blackwing has a 10 speed automatic transmission and 6 speed manual option with 668hp. It's much faster with the 10 speed automatic option.

Went from a FBO/e85 GT-R tuned by the best, to a '22 M4CxD. Never looked back!

Only reason it's quicker in 0-60 is because of AWD. The Shelby GT500 is faster in the quarter mile doing 10.5s and 10.6s with higher trap speeds and faster around the track. It has a 7 speed dual clutch transmission as well. The Shelby GT500 has a louder default exhaust note than most sports cars. The carbon fiber track package GT500 has a big wing with 550lbs of down force and cup 2 tires lighter carbon tires. It's quicker than any production Nissan GTR R35 Nismo and BMW M series around the track and quarter mile. However, it's 0-60 is 3.3 seconds because it's rwd but it compensates with a dct.
