I have 3 pairs of captains and one pair of the presidents. I have had no issues with discomfort. I find all of my Thursday boots VERY comfortable. I stand/walk/work in them every day. Doc martins on the other hand gave me incredible foot pain because they are terrible boots.
I really want a pair of Captains but the sizing gives me pause. I hear all sorts of theories reagring boot sizes vs snearkers so im clueless. I dont want to get into a situation where i keep exchanging via mail though... would you say the sizing is similar to red wings? I actually tried iron ranger on in store
I had a pair of Iron Rangers in 11.5. My captains are also in 11.5, there is plenty of room for my toes and wearing thicker socks in cold weather. You should be good with the same size as your red wings or other boots.

I used to have some of those Eccos for many years
The Ecco’s are great for comfort.
