I've been a lurker on your channel for a long time and this is a first time comment. I am glad you filmed this aspect of your adventure because it highlights the potential dangers that can unpredictably happen. An adventure like yours is not always excitement and happiness. It sometimes is fear and difficulty. A truly good portrayal of your cruising life should be balanced and not always portray just the good side.
It's not like they are vlogging from their suburban basement and can just upload everything the day they film it. . They are out in the middle of the sea. . get a grip!
+Rebecca, I have watched for a long time too, and they acknowledge that their timeline is behind because of editing and internet availability (i.e. no internet in the Atlantic). However, they have mentioned that they are in current time on Instagram and other places that are linked to their account. A true picture of their adventure can only be obtained by subscribing to all of their source productions. They are true Vloggers, where does it say that today must be today in any of their numerous uploads on social media? Sail on and Fair winds La Vagabonde.
Rebecca P, do you think there's a Starbucks every couple of miles in the Atlantic where they can upload videos? Same goes for any of the small islands or towns they wind up at. How exactly do you feel like you're being fooled? Do you think those tears were fake? Do you think Riley intentionally gashed his head open "for the views"? Don't be ignorant please.
I have been vicariously sailing with you two for a while. Im a disabled sailor, two back surguries and need a third. May i pass along what ive learned? Every step is deliberate. Dont lift when you can hoist or cart. Fulcrums are your mate, only lift half if possible. Pain killers mask the early warning that you are screwing up. Be kind to your body, it will make you suffer if you dont. Best wishes from Texas.

Traveled the world by land and air for years working oilfield shit busting myself up, then when opec forced all that oil on the us I got laid off and turned to residential framing. The raw emotion and sincerity is why I watch this channel. You allow us in to your life every week riding the highs and lows that living on the seas throws at you. I am glad you are ok Riley, but I felt for you both.
I normally just watch you guys but I feel your pain 8 years ago during 15 - 25 foot seas while on our 78 foot motor yaught I fell down the stairs on my way to check one of our engines. I fractured my neck and the vertebra's from C 1 - 2 though C -6. We were off the coast of Alaska. I have been paralyzed sense from my waist down and my right arm. It was touch and go for quite sometime had it not been for the Coast. Guard I would have lost my life. I am not sharing this for pity or and such thing. We never know what Gods plan is for us but when something bad happens it's not Why Me - But Why Not Me. I can tell by looking at someone usually if they are in pain or not - correct me if I am wrong - but at times you have looked to me like you were in pain. By you sharing your videos and your lives it lifts my spirits and at times puts a smile on my face. I really wasn't a religious person and. To be honest I really question how much I am now. But I do believe God has a map of our lives from the time we were born and its up to us to make the best of it. Bless You Both I hope that I did the right thing sharing this with everyone. I've always noticed in my own relationship with my "sailing lady" that when we get in our bigger arguments something comes along to slap us up side the head and remind us that we are both for each other no matter what. This is the best video you have done in some time. I watch and enjoy every one since the very first when I subscribed. Nut this is very special. It warms my old heart (nearly 80) to witness the love you two share, Your caring and concern for each other lifts me up. I was so sorry to see this video end so sadly. The pain and fear on Riley's face was obvious. And Elanya your tears and anguish broke that old heart you had just lifted up. . I have never experienced this level of affection for someone I do not know. Keep your chin up and your upper lip stiff. Every thing will be ok.
That last part was so sad! I’m glad you’re both okay! It’s amazing how something like that erases everything from an argument and suddenly the only thing that matters is that person right in front of you and nothing else.
We don't know each other, but I want to tell you guys that I love you both and since I know this happened a few months ago I know you're okay. Riley, this is your second head injury in mere months. As a disabled 46 yr old former badass and multiple TBI survivor I beg u to be properly examined by a trauma doctor known as a physiatrist. I thought I was invincible at your age, all alpha types do, but there's an irreversible sequence that takes place and makes you prone to more injuries. Love both you guys, seen every episode. It was always my dream to go cruising, but with my injuries a few hours on a pond boat screws me up for hours, sometimes days. Wish you the best!!

Former badass here! Guess what lol? I'm in a wheelchair too! I'm gonna concur with everything you said on the psychological aspect. That's how I was before my unfortunate, but somewhat deserved, change of circumstances(c3-c6 incomplete, under water(unconscious) for ten minutes, and a two month coma afterwards).
I wouldn't say I was a badass, but I definetely felt invincible. Then, when I was 16, had my first major (and to be honest, first that lasted more than a few days) injury - almost broke my back. Went from backflips, climbing, skiing, stretching to not being able to walk for a month. That sucked, but I kind of healed. It still hurts during a night sometimes and it will for the rest of my life. Then, last year, I tore something in my knee when I wanted to show a friend a hip throw I learned in judo. I didn't care that I gained lots of wieght since the last time I did it (80kg to almost a 100) and the guy was also around a 100kg. My knee just collapsed to the side. After a year I can walk normally, run, even do some light exercise (I'm 28 now) and even go skiing. I really need to do my sailing when I'm still young, because being old me is gonna suck balls :(

I'm often now realising that the reason I keep watching your videos is because I feel connected with your stories, more than all the sailing and travel parts. You are two amazing human beings. You're not following the road, but rather creating your own path. You're inspiring not only in what you do, but also in what you are, two people that love eachother, humble, happy, and extremely lucky! I've been following you two right from the start and have enjoyed each and every post you have done. More recently you have been much more open about both the good and the not so good parts of your lifestyle and I think all of your followers appreciate it. I rarely comment on your posts but this particular one was different at least for me. I know from talking to other cruisers that you are both as real and genuine as you appear and I hope that Riley recovered well from his mishap. I've seen all your videos and this one was the best so far. not because of the end. you've just managed to capture so much this time! the cut in general was very well paced, the rapid-cut-sequences (shopping bag, provisioning) where new and very well executed. then also these beautiful mood-pictures witch really captured the moments - I could nearly smell the places and feel what it must be like to sail the oceans! And then also the mood between you guys. I could really feel the emotions between the two of you, I wasn't surprised when in the end Riley said that you had a fight. you brought us really close into your life, closer than ever before! Total empathy here Riley, I broke my neck C4/C5 on a motorbike aged 21yrs, got put on a Spinal Unit for 6mths (on my back), I too lost momentary use of my arms and I understand totally what you mean by 'that familiar tingling feeling in my arm'!! Best to play it safe mate and rest on your back a while, your instincts kicked in there, you know that sensation only too well. Couples sailing will always have their spats, it goes with the territory, its nothing they ever mention on their vlogs though because thats personal stuff, so thanx for being so open. p.s. Elayna don't you dare feel guilty gal (Riley will tell ya the same), accidents happen, & his past injuries are burdens he alone carries, your guy will be as right as rain before ya know it :)
For Neck Nerve Damage: Try using a "Tens Unit" on your neck. It works wonders on my neck nerve damage. Add it to your med kit along with a foam neck collar. Oddly my left arm goes out too. Sadly it seems neck damage is for life and flares up when it wants too. Mine sometimes if I lift my head off my pillow the wrong way but hey, I am an old salt now. Try the Tens Unit. Works great.

I love how your experiences make me feel past some of the negatives. . . as in 1) I feel bad that I can't afford to support you guys in some way financially :/ I'm hoping that changes soon. 2) I've been following you guys since the beginning and have never commented, which is also something I don't feel the best about, my apologies, for both 1 & 2 actually. You could change the jet size and adjust the pressure into the burners. We do that with gas to propane conversion.and vs. It is simply regulating the gas to air ratio. Maybe you could convert to methane so you could make a gas generator off the commodes. Great video.
2 things...from an old mans experience... 1st: I’m retired US military...I have been on 8 deployments and I can totally relate with the feeling of losing track of time. It really in itself is a liberating feeling. The desert is what we would call the ocean of sand or the great big cat litter box! No matter, being away from all you know, it cause you to get back to yourself...it is a great feeling. 2nd: DADDY TIME! Stop your bickering! LOL! I can see as I am sure others can by the filming of this episode you guys are (were) stressed. That is normal as it is to argue. One thing I believe in is love conquers all. I’ve learned this from my awesome wife. I won’t leave a lecture but will say this...I believe every viewer here knows you guys have your moments and it IS refreshing to see that reality sometimes so thank you for that. We also believe in the love between you both. It’s beautiful!!! We don’t come here just for the sailing. LOL! It’s you! We come to watch 2 beautifully strong ppl in love on their journey through life. So continue to love each other, grow with each other, put down your stubborn, and expose your soul. So sorry to hear about your mishap. Thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery and hoping that it won't have too much of an impact on your journey. In horse training, we have a saying - "sometimes you have to go slow to go fast". Maybe this is one of those moments. But in the big scheme of things, everything happens for a reason, so I'm sure everything will work itself out in the end. Keep the faith! :)

Prayers for Riley and you both ! Remember that you balance one another out , always communicate and express feeling with one another to closer your relationyacht . You seem to be a good fit , and are living your dream but without good communication and being completely honest with each other you have only the premise of a good start without the happy ending . You love one another and that is plainly seen regardless of clicks or likes or youtube drama be who you are and enjoy one another. Oh and look both ways before crossing the ocean, watch for chairs ect.
That's actually a terrifying prospect. It would mean that if you didn't like the fiduciary arrangement that you had with your government, you would have to escape from the planet to escape it.
@POV Adventures Even if there is no government, there will still always be a power structure. An arrangement of those with more power making the more important decisions in the society. Even if that is some non governmental form of governance, it still could suck for the relatively lower status members. That's what's nice about nations. They provide compartmentalization. So that if one arrangement sucks there are other arrangements one can opt into. I'm all for testing stateless societies. Hugely behind the idea in fact. Just not as a monolithic world order. A world order of co existing nation states and stateless nations, if you will.

By "works perfectly" you mean almost every animal lives in perpetual fear of being eaten alive? If that's your standard then yea, it would be pretty easy to produce perfect stateless social orders.

Well I'm going to say this...I don't sail. I'm a captain for power to 26 meters. I would never have anyone on broad with out a ERP and inflatable life vest standing watch alone. What happens if one of you fall overboard while the other is sleeping? You to must up your safety game and fast. Please PLEASE take these words seriously. Be safe.
I think the same. I have had 3 incidents of people falling overboard while sailing (all were recovered quickly!) and none of the incidents happened in rough weather. It can happen anytime. God forbid it should happen to someone on watch while everyone else is asleep.
I've thought the same. I don't sail but do run a powered vessel. Everyone on deck wears a comfy inflatable and we have our ERP. It's a small - extremely small - inconvenience that actually gives us all a bit of peace of mind. Thankfully never had to use it.

This story about Riley’s injury is at least 2 months old. SLV has been an n Antigua since late January. ‘18. That’s what AIS shows. There’s a video more recently, from another TH-camr, that shows them partying on another sailboat. Riley is fine. This is really not cool on Riley’s or Elayna’s part.

However, they have mentioned that they are in current time on Instagram and other places that are linked to their account. A true picture of their adventure can only be obtained by subscribing to all of their source productions. They are true Vloggers, where does it say that today must be today in any of their numerous uploads on social media? Sail on and Fair winds La Vagabonde.
Rebecca P, do you think there's a Starbucks every couple of miles in the Atlantic where they can upload videos? Same goes for any of the small islands or towns they wind up at. I have been vicariously sailing with you two for a while. Im a disabled sailor, two back surguries and need a third. May i pass along what ive learned? Every step is deliberate. Dont lift when you can hoist or cart. Fulcrums are your mate, only lift half if possible. Pain killers mask the early warning that you are screwing up. Be kind to your body, it will make you suffer if you dont. Best wishes from Texas.

Traveled the world by land and air for years working oilfield shit busting myself up, then when opec forced all that oil on the us I got laid off and turned to residential framing. Busted my back and have never been the same... need a new back, few discs blown out and starting to grow together. Hip displacia from heavy tool belts, ex, ex. Time to sail..

I normally just watch you guys but I feel your pain 8 years ago during 15 - 25 foot seas while on our 78 foot motor yaught I fell down the stairs on my way to check one of our engines. I fractured my neck and the vertebra's from C 1 - 2 though C -6. We were off the coast of Alaska. I have been paralyzed sense from my waist down and my right arm. It was touch and go for quite sometime had it not been for the Coast. Guard I would have lost my life. I am not sharing this for pity or and such thing. We never know what Gods plan is for us but when something bad happens it's not Why Me - But Why Not Me. I can tell by looking at someone usually if they are in pain or not - correct me if I am wrong - but at times you have looked to me like you were in pain. By you sharing your videos and your lives it lifts my spirits and at times puts a smile on my face. I really wasn't a religious person and. To be honest I really question how much I am now. But I do believe God has a map of our lives from the time we were born and its up to us to make the best of it. Bless You Both I hope that I did the right thing sharing this with everyone. Cheers

Riley, this is your second head injury in mere months. As a disabled 46 yr old former badass and multiple TBI survivor I beg u to be properly examined by a trauma doctor known as a physiatrist. I thought I was invincible at your age, all alpha types do, but there's an irreversible sequence that takes place and makes you prone to more injuries. Love both you guys, seen every episode. It was always my dream to go cruising, but with my injuries a few hours on a pond boat screws me up for hours, sometimes days. Wish you the best!!

Former badass here! Guess what lol? I'm in a wheelchair too! I'm gonna concur with everything you said on the psychological aspect. That's how I was before my unfortunate, but somewhat deserved, change of circumstances(c3-c6 incomplete, under water(unconscious) for ten minutes, and a two month coma afterwards).
I wouldn't say I was a badass, but I definetely felt invincible. Then, when I was 16, had my first major (and to be honest, first that lasted more than a few days) injury - almost broke my back. Went from backflips, climbing, skiing, stretching to not being able to walk for a month. That sucked, but I kind of healed. It still hurts during a night sometimes and it will for the rest of my life.
Then, last year, I tore something in my knee when I wanted to show a friend a hip throw I learned in judo. I didn't care that I gained lots of wieght since the last time I did it (80kg to almost a 100) and the guy was also around a 100kg. My knee just collapsed to the side.
After a year I can walk normally, run, even do some light exercise (I'm 28 now) and even go skiing.
I really need to do my sailing when I'm still young, because being old me is gonna suck balls :(

I'm often now realising that the reason I keep watching your videos is because I feel connected with your stories, more than all the sailing and travel parts. You are two amazing human beings. You're not following the road, but rather creating your own path. More recently you have been much more open about both the good and the not so good parts of your lifestyle and I think all of your followers appreciate it. I know from talking to other cruisers that you are both as real and genuine as you appear and I hope that Riley recovered well from his mishap. I've seen all your videos and this one was the best so far. not because of the end. you've just managed to capture so much this time! the cut in general was very well paced, the rapid-cut-sequences (shopping bag, provisioning) where new and very well executed. then also these beautiful mood-pictures witch really captured the moments - I could nearly smell the places and feel what it must be like to sail the oceans! And then also the mood between you guys. I could really feel the emotions between the two of you, I wasn't surprised when in the end Riley said that you had a fight. you brought us really close into your life, closer than ever before! Total empathy here Riley, I broke my neck C4/C5 on a motorbike aged 21yrs, got put on a Spinal Unit for 6mths (on my back), I too lost momentary use of my arms and I understand totally what you mean by 'that familiar tingling feeling in my arm'!! Best to play it safe mate and rest on your back a while, your instincts kicked in there, you know that sensation only too well.
Couples sailing will always have their spats, it goes with the territory, its nothing they ever mention on their vlogs though because thats personal stuff, so thanx for being so open.
p.s. Elayna don't you dare feel guilty gal (Riley will tell ya the same), accidents happen, & his past injuries are burdens he alone carries, your guy will be as right as rain before ya know it :)
For Neck Nerve Damage: Try using a "Tens Unit" on your neck. It works wonders on my neck nerve damage. Add it to your med kit along with a foam neck collar. Oddly my left arm goes out too. Sadly it seems neck damage is for life and flares up when it wants too. Mine sometimes if I lift my head off my pillow the wrong way but hey, I am an old salt now. Try the Tens Unit. Works great.

I love how your experiences make me feel past some of the negatives. . . as in 1) I feel bad that I can't afford to support you guys in some way financially :/ I'm hoping that changes soon. 2) I've been following you guys since the beginning and have never commented, which is also something I don't feel the best about, my apologies, for both 1 & 2 actually. However . . . and please hear this, even if it's for the 1000th time - 3) what you guys give to people like me, landlocked with dreams bigger than the continent I live on and what I can afford . . . are priceless. I have the opportunity, albeit virtually, to adventure with you both because the experiences you share, and more specifically the way you share them, and I can't thank you both enough for sharing your lives and adventure with the rest of the world in the way that you do. You could change the jet size and adjust the pressure into the burners. We do that with gas to propane conversion.and vs.
It is simply regulating the gas to air ratio. Maybe you could convert to methane so you could make a gas generator off the commodes. Great video.

I’m retired US military...I have been on 8 deployments and I can totally relate with the feeling of losing track of time. It really in itself is a liberating feeling. The desert is what we would call the ocean of sand or the great big cat litter box! No matter, being away from all you know, it cause you to get back to yourself...it is a great feeling.
2nd: DADDY TIME!
Stop your bickering! LOL! I can see as I am sure others can by the filming of this episode you guys are (were) stressed. That is normal as it is to argue. One thing I believe in is love conquers all. I’ve learned this from my awesome wife. I won’t leave a lecture but will say this...I believe every viewer here knows you guys have your moments and it IS refreshing to see that reality sometimes so thank you for that. We also believe in the love between you both. It’s beautiful!!! We don’t come here just for the sailing. LOL! It’s you! We come to watch 2 beautifully strong ppl in love on their journey through life. So continue to love each other, grow with each other, put down your stubborn, and expose your soul.

In horse training, we have a saying - "sometimes you have to go slow to go fast". Maybe this is one of those moments. But in the big scheme of things, everything happens for a reason, so I'm sure everything will work itself out in the end. Keep the faith! :)

Prayers for Riley and you both ! Remember that you balance one another out , always communicate and express feeling with one another to closer your relationyacht . You seem to be a good fit , and are living your dream but without good communication and being completely honest with each other you have only the premise of a good start without the happy ending . @POV Adventures Even if there is no government, there will still always be a power structure. An arrangement of those with more power making the more important decisions in the society. Even if that is some non governmental form of governance, it still could suck for the relatively lower status members. That's what's nice about nations. They provide compartmentalization. So that if one arrangement sucks there are other arrangements one can opt into. I'm all for testing stateless societies. Hugely behind the idea in fact. Just not as a monolithic world order. A world order of co existing nation states and stateless nations, if you will.

Well I'm going to say this...I don't sail. I'm a captain for power to 26 meters. I would never have anyone on broad with out a ERP and inflatable life vest standing watch alone. I think the same. I have had 3 incidents of people falling overboard while sailing (all were recovered quickly!) and none of the incidents happened in rough weather. It can happen anytime. God forbid it should happen to someone on watch while everyone else is asleep.
I felt similarly when the beautiful Elayna was joined on deck by Riley - sitting on port side chair - but it could have been ‘take 4’?
I can't count the number of times I have said the same thing to these wonderful people. A major accident would be devastating to either one of them!
Same exact thing went through my mind (and out my ear) when I saw that. And I'm not a sailor.
I've thought the same. I don't sail but do run a powered vessel. Everyone on deck wears a comfy inflatable and we have our ERP. It's a small - extremely small - inconvenience that actually gives us all a bit of peace of mind. Thankfully never had to use it.
Oh man, you had me crying! Even though you are both so responsible, intelligent and able, I have come to just love you two, and I worry about you. I’m sure most of us do. Be safe and have that neck checked when you hit land, Riley. Prayers for safe voyages.

you guys figured out to do what you want to do in life and fund it thru the internet. this is my goal in life too. i wish to travel the world and see everything. for this life at the moment is the only life i own and i want to see everything i can before i cannot anymore. i praise both of you and absolutely love this channel, for it brings me confidence to continue this life to one day i can do this with my lady. i love her more than anything and i love watching this channel with you two explore the world. pure happiness.

This story about Riley’s injury is at least 2 months old. SLV has been an n Antigua since late January. ‘18. That’s what AIS shows. There’s a video more recently, from another TH-camr, that shows them partying on another sailboat. Riley is fine. This is really not cool on Riley’s or Elayna’s part.
