agreed. in NJ here I can say I only find two food trucks worth it out of over a dozen i been too, but those two have some of the best food and drink i ever had.
true like the really good ones are just amazing like DMV Taqueria truck in Columbia MD might be the best tacos I've had worth the price but a lot of them are just overpriced
I don’t comment too often but I have to say I started a Dylan hater, and now I absolutely love your content. IMO your content has really grown to your own style and I really enjoy it! Thank you for the video!
Having operated a food truck in Iowa for multiple years with many of you might not be thinking about in your comments on pricing is the cost of parking that food truck. Very few cities just allow you to roll up and start selling. Maybe will have a yearly registration fee that can range into the hundreds or thousands of dollars. Even if I were to pull up to a private companies parking lot, with their permission, I still have to have the city registration paid. Yes, food trucks have a advantage over a brick and mortar establishment, but there are plenty of extra cost hidden in there as well .
Thank you! I replied similarly on a few other comments. Plus, did you have to rent space in a commercial / commissary kitchen to store and prep your TCS foods?
People don't get that these trucks aren't free either. They pay for a vehicle, pay to modify it, the gas, the maintenance on it. That's not including having to take courses for food handling, get a certificate then having to drive around to get ingredients, do the prep, cook and transactions. They also have to pay employees. If you don't want to pay $5 for a taco go buy all the stuff and make it yourself.
i get the hate, being from a food truck town there are a few things i respect about food trucks. One is that they are willing to try crazy things, that no brick and mortar would ever risk, and two you almost always get face time with the owner and most want to be sure you enjoy the effort that went into making the food.
Your channel hit my recommended list with your 2nd vid i think. Not sure if you were previously known and made this channel, but you’re such a pro at capturing from our perspective and grew your channel pretty quick! Super great work! The vibes are immaculate! Deserves more attention!
6:52 I think the spoon is a great idea tbh. Instead of being forced to eat it on a stick, you could remove the spoon and take bites! A wooden or bamboo spoon would be a great option for the waste issue.
I also assumed that's why they serve it that way, much like in the old days, Slurpees were served with straws that were spoon-shaped on the end: so you could slurp OR scoop. 😁 And while I agree that a wooden, bamboo, or even compostable spoon would be a more eco-friendly option, those spoons cost a lot more than plastic (polypropylene) ones (at least 2-4 times as much), so that would really drive up the cost of their product, which is already pretty pricey.
This is not just another channel ....This is a cultural documentary that makes me appreciate our planet and I will support this channel till I'm an old woman. 👍👍🥰🥰
Roy Choi is a legend and I think Koji showcases that. I went to Best Friend in Vegas and I was blown away. He knows what food needs to elevate it and how to price it. Great experience all around.
Many recommendations on peoples videos never really peak my interest but as someone from Australia, seeing all your videos. Trying all these road stops and food trucks and fun things in America is just so cool and interesting. You’re really great at captivating and audience and I’m glad I found you
The cheesy ending is beautiful and perfect. Food trucks are definitely a place all my friends end up at because of the options and vibe. Sometimes there's a full bar and we have a drink or two. They let you be loud and open with yourself. It gives nostalgic vibes while still being something new and refreshing.
i swear i'm going down a rabbit hole watching your videos for about 2 hours now you got yourself a new subscriber 😊 and that truck interrupting at the perfect times i'm crying 😭😂
5:05 don’t underestimate people’s love for specialty snacks and treats, I work at an auntie Anne’s and they way people complain about prices and simultaneously buy $20-30 worth of pretzel shit is insane
yeah but frozen bananas with toppings is easily replicated. you realize how much equipment and time it wouold take to make a pretzel at home lol, not to mention auntie annes has probably has a secret proprietary mix
One food truck I would of highly recommend is Rosita’s on riverside. They have the best al pastor tacos imo and always recommend anyone new to Austin to give it a try!
Enjoyed the video. I just found you & have started binge watching. So fun! I just wish you'd try more of a variety of foods in your videos. Otherwise, entertaining.
There is a Veracruz location near me and I’ve tried their breakfast tacos and like he said they are overpriced and lacking flavor but the barbacoa tacos are beyond worth the money just because of how flavorful their barbacoas is and their tortillas are amazing
kogi's prices arent representative of LA prices at all, even statistics show LA prices are higher than the national average......if youre eating at cheap spots itll cost you about 50$ a day. unless you want to eat street tacos all day everyday lol cause street tacos are probably the only food under 4$ from a truck
Honestly I feel you on the food truck price thing. Usually I kinda rationalize it as "well they have to move around and what not so they aren't always open and they have to make up on that somehow". The spots you visted though, don't really strike me as food trucks outside the Banana one and Koji. They're basically restaurants with how set up they are. However the only one I can remember was a truck that did Shrimp Po Boys and damn was it good.
Post another food truck vlogs Dylan. People enjoy food trucks and You should try other city food trucks especially New York, Washington, Portland, Boston, Tampa, Chicago, San Francisco..😮 😮
Ethan is awesome I like looking at him he seems very interesting. I think he should make his own TH-cam channel I would definitely subscribe!!! *TEAM ETHAN!*
I'm glad to hear you talk about the smell. I unforunately have congential anosmia which means I was born with no sense of smell it sucks but eh I live with it.
I am a new subscriber and you are absolutely phenomenal. I love your channel and the honesty. Have you ever been to Michigan? Just curious to know thank you again. I absolutely love this channel.🥰💯
Dylan as a Texan I have to say I was not surprised you were over charged in Austin lol. In my opinion the best Taco trucks are in the hood areas, San Antonio & Houston. But I agree with you 100% about food & friends. Love the content 🤙😊
Wish i had stumbled on this channel earlier The quality and effort the time the content of each video is top notch 👌 👏 👍 You are in my top 3 food vlogger of all time instantly 🎉🎉
If you want really good tacos, go to Calexico in Brooklyn in parkslope. The best tacos I’ve ever had and I’ve traveled a lot surprising how tasty they are.
My fave food truck ever is a Vietnamese truck where you can get HUGE spring rolls for $3 each. and they are GIANT. Three of them is a full meal, and they are actually heavenly. I dont think ive ever spent over $15 there on one order (tons of spring rolls, a drink, and marinated shrimp) and lowkey, it ruined every other food truck for me, its that good and well priced. No one will ever compare, genuinely best food in a 50 mile radius, maybe more

In my experience less than 5% of food trucks are worth it, but those that are worth it are REALLY worth it.
Facts that’s why I love living in Austin there are so many food trucks that there are a lot of good ones lol

@@Theaeroportunderwatermind letting me know which ones. I’d love to try it out
Most of the food trucks I have tried that were worth it have been Hispanic in a mainly Hispanic area.
Ethan being as happy as can be after eating is my spirit animal 🤣
7 bucks for a taco is a crime
And a vegetarian one
its America what do u expect.
@@Tsugii_101 I can get great tacos by me, in America, for less than 4 bucks.
i seen tacos for $10 and it was only 4
Same for the donuts
Ethan's vibe is unmatched, that's the kinda friend/cousin anyone would love to have!
The banana and taco pricing were actually crazy, they looked good but not worth that much. Love you Dylan 🫶
Got to love Inflation 😂
totally unrealistic prices 😂
You guys don't know how much it costs to run a food truck.
@@nganstoppable it’s a truck couldn’t be as much as running a real restaurant
@nganstoppable sorry if we offend you Karen

$7 for a banana...

I thought the same thing.
You mean that's bananas... B A N A N A S!
Everyone has their guilty pleasures tho
It’s one banana, Michael, how much does it cost? $10?
