Second Buyee Box - Bargains or Bummers?

- I ended up down the Buyee rabbit hole again, this time the items were a great deal, but I lost most of the deal in the shipping. I was let down a little on one thing, but it will work out great in the end and I got a big box of stuff so no complaints. I have logged out of the app on my phone as it was going to end up costing me more and more, so I am takin a break to save up for a few things I know are coming up soon like the FAV buggy!!
You guys are all awesome and I appreciate all the great comments and questions from everyone. Really enjoying talking to you all in the comments section.

Yeah i am full up on the chassis and bumper stock at the moment! LOL! I could not pass up on the deal, I could tell there were a lot of parts in there. I was sent a link this morning from another viewer to a black chassis in the UK on eBay I missed and got that ordered. Thankfully it was not expensive! Now I will have 5 so once I am done with the resto and possibly building another from the parts I will move on the rest to good homes in need of new bits here! The Kong Head should be a blast, I have never seen a video of one where they were not having a blast with them! I have gotten some great suggestions for colors and if I still can't make up my mind then maybe the lime green happens LOL! Take care Mark and I hope you have a great rest of the week!

Thank Jeremey! It is a slippery slope and I had to log out of it for a while as I was clicking on too many things and finding too many neat things and that was going to have me bidding on them! I will be back on there but itis going to be something I am going to have to ration myself with! The Kong head should be a blast to rip around with!!!

Yeah I have spare part for pare parts for it now! Once I am done with what I need I will bundle things up into little restoration bundles and either put them eBay or give them as gifts to others. The Optimus Prime does sound pretty cool to do with it!! so far the only theme mentioned is like a Mad Max /grungy type theme but I like this!!! That is very high on the list of possibilities for sure!!! Thank you!

I don't think you can paint it wrong, it is going to look cool no matter what! So far there have been some good suggestions and who knows when it comes down to the last minute I may go with the bright and bold lime green!! Thanks for weighing in!

Just got the ball bearings i need to tear down the Vintage tamiya boomerang & sort that out, so will start on that tomorrow evening.
That sounds like some good weekend plans! I have to wait until Sunday to get some time down in the hobby room but it gives me something to look forward to!! Have fun with the rebuild of the Boomer!

The ^X^ trucks are really cool and as soon as I drove the Volvo dump truck I had moved the others towards the top of the "kits to get" list! It should be a fun build and I know it will be a hoot out ripping it around the yard!
The parts lot was way too good to pass on but yes, I got spares for spares at this point! LOL! I was able to find a reasonably priced black chassis with the help of another viewer this morning and it is on its way from the UK. You guys need to quit hoarding all the good parts! LOL! Once I have used what I need I will bundle the rest up and send it off to new homes either on eBay or just as gifts to folks needing them. I definitely do not need a pile of chassis sitting around here!

This is something I would do I would buy all this stuff just for one part I've never sold anything on eBay though I can't believe all those chassis I had a clod buster once and I had so many extra parts I bought another chassis and made a complete vehicle with all the parts I had and I still had parts left over I sold the extra clodbuster I had built
I have sold a few tings in the past on there. I actually rummaged up enough stuff at one point to actually by my black edition Clod! Some things I was never going to use and needed a home elsewhere. I will see what I end up with and will probably stick some combos up with the chassis, arms and rear housings all together instead of little bits a a time. It saves me from shipping so much out.
Can the chassis by dyed with Rit?
I am not sure, being ABS I do not think so. I know nylon dyes well but I don't think the ABS takes it as well. Not that it needs much seeing as it is very dark already.
What about burgundy ? Not dark, a little lighter.
That would be a good choice, good for the style of truck and a kind of uncommon one as well. It is on the list as a strong candidate! Thanks!
Oh a Konghead, twist my arm more to get one.... My daughter painted hers Red & Black with Spaz mirror chrome (didn't work out so good). If you or Keith ever come across Tamiya TXT G parts #10005849, I need 2 trees... I looked everywhere, None in the States.. Found some in Germany but they wont ship here.
The Kong Head should be a blast! I do like that two tone look! I will only do chrome on the show bodies for the shelf, this one will get knocked around some so any chrome paint for roll bars and such will just be silver paint! Next time I am on the site i will save a search for that and if they come up I will let you know. I am on a self imposed break as I need to regulate myself!
Theses many chassis would make me think of conining it to a custom T-Rex. Like Mal and Brent do😂.
I got two bodies. A failled effect painting (now it's for running) and flake shelf queen. I can suggest first think of the stickers you want to put on and then about the colour. A bonbon colour would be cool.

Once I am done with what I need from it I will probably bundle them up in little resto bundles (chassis, arms, bumper and rear end housings) and send them off to new homes either on eBay or just as gifts. It is way more than I need but I could not pass up on the deal for all of it.
For the Kong Head, I have a few ideas of my own and then some great suggestions from all of you guys here. I will weigh the options and time/materials needed and go with one of them! LOL! So far the gun metal and silver theme is favorite but Rex mentioned white and maybe some rust which made me think of a race truck livery, do white with some race decal and weather it like a giant desert racer or something... so many options LOL!!
The Konghead looks great in bright colours, IMO. Neons, Iridescents, etc... All look amazing on that body, if you ask me. Looks like Buyee is a great way to save, and a great way to spend. Lol!
You are right, I have seen a ton of pics and videos and no matter what color it ends up it looks great! I know it will be a blast to drive, I plan on putting in a 17t or 19t motor in it to pep it up a little but not not go obscenely fast with it. You are a 1000% right with the buyee statement, it is a great place to save money on things but also a never ending money pit of things to get! I logged out of it for to avoid the browsing around which turns in bidding and win one thing then you have to get more stuff to justify the shipping so it is a place where I will have to ration my time in!!!

Mate you've got plenty if you ever break the only model that uses that chassis maybe they used them instead of packaging foam .... love those tyre's keen to see where they end up I've got a strange obsession with tyre's aswell...... 💪 awwww yer the konghead that's exciting keen to see that my vote candy apple red take care mate have a great week 👊

Cady apple red would look cool and I wish I could find a color like the little Redcat Ascent 18 I have, that would be perfect!!! I love that red on there and if you ever see it in person you are going to buy one of those trucks! I am warning you now! LOL!
😁Addam you must really love that fighter buggy! I say push the konghead build up even more that's a great build and a fun RC to run it is different than them all it feels like with all those tires it floats over the terrain.
LOL! I was just going to see about getting a few parts to restore it and then this big lot of parts showed up on Buyee so I grabbed it! Obviously it is way more than I will ever need so I am going to bundle things up once I am done and send groups out to new homes either through eBay or more than likely as gifts. I know the Kong Head is going to be fun one, I have seen you romp yours around and it is a smile maker for sure! I will try to get to it very soon. I know my RC10T is shipping soon so once that gets here I will be hoping on that one!

It felt a little silly buying it since I have 4 new ones here but I needed the black and not the grey so I will just have to find homes for the other ones!
Pretty sweet haul to bad about the color maybe someone has one to trade..Looks like you can get a couple kits running out of it... Pretty sweet kong head I see what you mean about the chasing the parts to a build... Great show and tell Addam Pricing on that shipping is tricky.. I did EMS and Buyee 7 day ems is way faster but ya pricey.. 👍
It was all worth it but the first big box was a better deal. The first time I did the FedEx option and it arrived in 4 or 5 days and was less than this one with almost twice the size. It is a learn as you go thing for sure! I will be back on there, just saving for some other stuff coming out in the next month or two!

@AddamsPlayground I built a king yellow years ago when I didn't have the income I do now so I used the pucks I have put countless batteries though it in all weather conditions and it's still working great lol
Get liquid analine dye. You can dye them I recommend KEDA dyes.. they’re cheap and work great
Will it work on the ABS plastic? I have used it in the past on wood and I know it stains just about anything, especially hands! LOL! Broken glove equaled an orange finger for a week!

Right? I am not sure where that big lot would have come from. It is a lot of brand new parts but they are the commonly scratch and damaged parts so I assume someone had collected them and just decided they had too much I guess! My first thought was a racer but those would be the parts must likely to need replacing so that kind of ruled that out. I am not the keeper of the parts I guess! LOL! I will use what I need and then try to move the rest onto good homes as I do not need quite that many of them!

Yeah, lots and lots of parts!! I was a bit bummed that all of the chassis tubs were grey but it was so hard to tell in the pics so I knew it was a gamble! I still did ok in the buy and I will be able to put together some resto kits to sell and make back some of the shipping money spent! Once I am done with what I need and can do with the parts the rest will get moved onto good homes. The Kong Had should be a fun one! Old and patinaed is an option for sure! The really gnarly Mad Max style is better on the hard bodies as it is just so much easier to mount bits and pieces to the body for accents and to grunge them up. The lexan bodies it is just some weathering that can be done to avoid bits falling off! It can still look very cool so it is a good option. Thanks Pete

Thanks Craig! The kong head should be a blast but it is going to eat up my bearing stash! The tires are very cool and I wish now I went ahead and picked up two sets, I just got one but now regretting that decision even though I don't have a build earmarked for them! I think I have a problem! LOL!
When you find parts that you cannot get anywhere else it's a good deal. The Konghead should be fun. I have three thoughts on the color. What about chrome, school bus yellow, the Clidbuster limited addition grey, or white? Also, could you paint one of the chassises black? I have never seen it done.

I do have the king yellow bus to do as well so that one will be in the box art and I have the Volvo dump truck so I don't think I want that many yellow 6x6 trucks LOL. I am leaning towards a gun metal and silver look possibly. Maybe some white racing stripes down the middle.... that would look cool too! Thanks for the suggestions!

This one was a good haul, not quite as good as the first or this last one but for the fun and prices i cannot argue with it! I do need to do something in a color shift paint scheme or a partial color shift scheme. I tend to play it safe and simple most of the time but a cool flip flop color may work well! Thanks!

Hey Adam love your Channel! So you inspired me to go to buyee, lol! Where do you navigate to to get to the RC stuff on there because I spent a little time on there and I never could find narc stuff any information would be greatly appreciated thanks dude
It is a learning curve over there for sure. I try and keep searches simple on there, putting in too much in the search is usually more harmful than helpful it seems. Use searches like "Tamiya RC", "Kyosho RC", or if you are looking for certain types use the specific kit or chassis type like "TT02 rally" or "DT-03" and then just scroll through the results. It is better to scroll through a lot rather than potentially miss a lot of them. At least that has been my experience with it so far.
Cool haul. You’ll make up the shipping with the reselling of overstock. Kong Head should be awesome. Just finished first Lunchbox (Black Edition) chassis. Still have body and decals then it’ll be on to my Kong Head build. All the desired hop ups have arrived. I’m leaning toward PS 3 or PS 30. Do some color or style you’ve wanted to try but never have. Have fun with it.
Thanks Trey. At this point I am at the break even point so even if I sell one or two of the chassis as a lot with some arms, bumper and gearbox housings I will be ahead of the game. Some folks have suggested dying the chassis gut I am not sure it will take. It is still a fun game to play and I am sure I will be back on there again, just not right now, saving for some other kits due to release in a month or two! Take care and enjoy the Kong Head, The blues you are looking at should be cool, I would lean towards the darker one but the light one should look cool too.

I think I only need one readily available parts tree to make a complete build with these parts and the parts I already have one hand. So you are right that there is not enough there for a complete build but with the spares I already have I am 90-95% there. Obviously I have no issues buying parts...

Bought a couple sets of those tires off ebay a few months ago. Sort of the same reason, looked different than what I’m used to seeing and no specific plans for them lol.
They are cool lookin and they are just never available in the US shops for some reason. I have come close to buying on eBay a couple times but had not hit the buy now button. These came up and were cheap so I had to grab a set! I will find the right kit for them at some point!

I would love to do that but mounting stuff to lexan is not the best. I do want to do it to a King Hauler at some point and get the trailer to go along with it. I love that movie. We just watched it about a month ago and it is still as cool and corny as it ever was!!!

It started as just watching things to see what they were selling for but then I missed out on some super great deals so I began bidding and then that was the end of it. after this box there won't be another for a while! I plan on staying logged out for a while!

If you need some of these let me know. I am not going to use all of them for sure! In general I don't see to many parts lots like this so far on Buyee. I see a lot of on-road parts lots, wheels and tire lots and then the odd random one of the "this is all the stuff I cannot use and I am selling it all in one place to make it seem like a good deal but you only are going to use one or two things and the rest of it will be your problem now" lots!!! LOL!!!

Yeah I have logged off the app as I found myself constantly going on there and watching auctions that often lead me to wanting to bid on them! I am going to turn it on every other month to make sure I can regulate my impulsive buying! LOL!

I thought of black but looking at the instruction the back area of the truck is a lot of black already and I am not sure what I could change it to to break it up. It would look sharp but it will require some head scratching to figure out the back of it in the right color. Thanks for the input!

I am missing parts trees for the rest of it but I should have enough things here to make at least one custom build out of the parts. The rest will go up on eBay more than likely after I am done with them.

Might be a little tricky with the shape of the body to not get runs, I had troubles with them before! I just need to be less heavy handed with the application! Thanks for the suggestion!

LOL! It is a slippery slope! Definitely a gateway drug to a hoarding addition! I am still learning what to do and what not to do and I have actually logged out to not keep scrolling and finding things to watch. I do well on eBay doing that, I watch stuff all the time and refrain from buying 90% of it. This one is different, I want to bid on 90% of it and that gets me in trouble! LOL! I know I will be back on there in the future but for now I am ignoring it. We will see how long that lasts! I did think of black but looking at the instruction the whole back of it in black so I am thinking it will look it may be overkill in all black. I am leaning towards maybe gun metal and silver or pearl in the gun metal maybe to sparkle it up some! Maybe gunmetal on top and dark red or burgundy on the bottom maybe.... Thanks there are a lot of bits and pieces in there! Not quite able to make a kit from what is there but it is most of the hard parts to find to build a kit out of them. I will have to see what else I have in my leftovers and extra bins to see what else I need to get to build a complete runner out of one of them. I think I may only be missing one or two things but I will have to rummage around in the other parts I have to see.

Color is so subjective. There is alot of chrome on that truck. So I'd be thinking about colors that go with chrome. Black metallic? (I know...another black rig) but probably a silver or a gun metal. I'd google freightliner and see real colors on real trucks to get some ideas.
Yes, and I can go for a "real" look or a monster jam over the top kind of look seeing as the truck is a bit over the top. Normally I just go the simple route and stick with the box art but I am not attached to the box art on this one so the sky is the limit and that leads to too many choices. I get lost in the color wheel! LOL! I did think of black but looking at the instructions the back of it is a lot of black so then I would have to flip that to another color to counter the black front. I do like the Gunmetal/silver combo idea and another person suggested a deep red/burgundy which could look cool too especially with some pearl clear first. I still have no idea... the lime green may win as just the most outlandish color I could use LOL!!! Thanks for the suggestions!
Personally i love Plum Crazy Purple. Great 60s Mopar color, and im a GM guy put dam that color is so nice. And i dont think ive ever seen an RC car in Plum Crazy before!
I do like Purple as a cool color for it! I am not sure if anyone has a Polycarbonate paint in that exact color but I am sure I can find something close. I will shop around and see what i might be able to find!
Hey Addam, great lot. You could build another Mad Bull with them parts. I haven't seen a Kong Head in gunmetal color, think it would be sweet. 🤙
Thanks, I did pretty well, just not as cheap as last time but I am still learning! I did think that a Gun metal and silver theme would look good on the Kong Head. Since there is no sentimental value for the box art the sky is the limit and that just gives me too many options LOL!!!! Thansk for the suggestion, I like it!

I doubt it, I think a different color will make it unique and I am not in love with it in blue. I think a different color or a custom theme would make me happy.
