Michael, Thanks for taking the effort to make the how-to. Great idea. In fact, I think I may be giving some for presents to some of my RVing family. Thanks again., Jim

Super idea, you really worked out all the kinks and did the project on a budget without breaking the bank. Very nice and detailed pictures and instructions. Good work, thanks so much! Now, I just have to add this project to my honey do list.

did this and snapped in on the awning and it works great. Luckily a 10 ft. gutter worked perfectly as my trailer is small.

I did this to my trailer long before I saw your video, but we get enough wind that I felt it was necessary to hold it down pretty firmly when in storage. I used 18" carpenter clamps and I do drive to and from my house with those in place. I also used three piece to over lap and be short enough to store and handle more easily.

Good idea, but I wouldn't travel with them. I'd use them for the times my rig was not in use...storage, etc.

budgies are a waste just use large paper clips on the ends clip awning together with PVC gutter.

good job but wind blows it off, use bungees to hold it on

+Lowell Gordon Can you describe how you bungeed yours? Pics or even a video would help.

does the front one work just like the slide? stays in place when awning is deployed? have you figured a way to keep them on when traveling yet

The front one is too tight (has to be to keep from blowing off in Santa Ana winds in our driveway) and it's also too long to stay in place when awning deployed. We don't open it that often when it's sitting there during storage, so it woks out okay. And I haven't figured out any way of keeping in place when driving... One semi passing us in a mountain pass with a crosswind and BAM!! someone gets hit with my flying gutter!! ;-)

Can these be bungeed on so they can ride down the road or do they need to be removed before travel?

    • @MichaelGreer

They are tight enough (at least on my awnings) to stay on during weather/wind events while parked. However, I remove them when driving. I'm pretty sure they would fly off before I even reached 30 miles per hour! The main advantage is preventing damage from sun/tree drippings, etc. when parked... which is how most RVs spend their lives. (Kinda like a dog waiting for the master to come home and go out for a walk.) ;-0
