- In this video i show you how to clean you camper (RV) awning. I use Awesome on half of my awning and i use bleach and dawn dish soap on the other half. Hope you enjoy watching the video. Be very careful using these cleaners ensure that you dilute, Awesome and bleach alone are very strong cleaners.

We love Awesome and use it for most of our cleaning projects around the house. We will definitely be using it on our camper awning this year. Also, we bought the Anderson levelers and recommend them to everyone. Thanks for the video!

Next time keep your awning rolled up while you start to scrub. Then unroll it a little at a time while ya scrub the drum. It lets ya use more force.

Jeff, that’s definitely the way to do it! More force, easier to wash both sides, and safer since you don’t have to reach while on a ladder.

Just as a warning, mixing dawn and bleach creates a toxic gas. A good alternative for a surfactant would be gain laundry detergent. Dish soaps and bleach are not a good mix
Awesome video! Cleaning our camper now which is why I looked up this video so I could see what to use to clean it!!! Love the comparison of the two. It’s late so we’re just going to use the bleach and Dawn solution now but we are going to definitely use Awesome and a magic eraser mop next time!!!

Thanks for the video Jim. I am about to clean my awning and already picked up the Awesome, just wasn't sure on how the process goes. It was just as I thought. Also, I too bring a leaf blower and clean off my slides with it before putting them in. Keeps the seals from getting damaged and/or bringing leaves and twigs into the trailer. Nobody wants those inside their trailer.

I just came across this video as our awning looks exactly like yours. I cleaned by hand with Magic Eraser bleach and soapy solution last year. It's just as bad this year and need to do again. I'll definitely use the Eraser mop and go buy some Awesome. Awesome video....thank you. LOL at keep your mouth shut!!

I just watched your video and my awning is looking as bad or worse than what yours was. Headed to buy some Awesome and a magic eraser mop!. I just used a magic eraser on a couple of doors in my house that were the original white and used a lot with grease, etc. all over them. They look like new. So, thank you for this video. I have a ladder similar to yours that I feel very safe on so again - thank you for taking the time to do this video.

It works great just make sure you get the Magic eraser mop
The one thing that I learned from this is that I can get a Magic Eraser for a mop! I have been using the little rectangular pads. A Magic Eraser mop will save my shoulders. That tip alone is worth a like. Thanks!

Great idea about using the AWESOME cleaner. I've used bleach and different types of soap in the past with mixed results but always hated using the bleach for obvious reasons.

Yes, bleach would seem a bit caustic and strong to use on the awning fabric, but that's just my take!

Great video....one thing that would be really easy to do and help to protect your camper decals and paint would be to simply buy a cheap plastic painters tarp and attach it to the side of your camper. Be sure to extend it a ways beyond the awning too. I would also be careful using bleach because it is surely going to damage your awning to a certain degree. The awesome cleaner might not be all that great as well. But....mold has to come off as is it is unsightly and can continue to eat at your awning until it's too late. This would prevent streaking and damage to your camper. This is experience talking because I have damaged decals using commonplace camper cleaners. Thanks again for the great video.

I use awesome on the black drips down the sides of the trailer. Works well, if I may say it, AWESOME. Spray it let sit for a few minutes wipe down. Easy peasy .

@@MJones-wh3dp don’t let the Awesome on for a long time. You have to do like I did in the video spray it on let it sit for a little while then clean it, and then spray it off.

Sometimes on videos I change the playback speed, it helps get thru faster, but still getting all the info. :)
Once it is clean, what do you think about adding spray car wax? I do it on the shower walls to keep the walls cleaner longer.

Nicely done and great information. Could be trimmed a little for brevity; actually doing it is harder than it looks! Did you have any problems with the Magic Erase mop being easy to tear or damage when working around seams or rough spots?
No everything came off easy. The magic eraser mop made that job a lot easier than trying to do it by hand. Hope your having a good camping summer

I am new to camping w RV and definately havent tackled cleaning awnings yet. To complement you for your video for helping this newby see how easy this upkeep will be. You articulate the directions well and the microphone your using picks up your voice clearly.how often does the uv protection get applied? And to be clear, do i hit the uv protection on awnings and roof? Thanks for the blower tip, ill add it to our list. Cheers
Sorry can not really say how often to apply UV protectant. I would think depends how much it is in the sun. I think most people only apply once or twice a year. Spray your solution on, wait and just use any pressure washer to deep rinse. Use only the wide fan spray. Don't use the pin point spray. Saves your neck.

Great information, I usually buy the RV awing cleaner sold at Walmart and I can tell you it does not do the cleaning job that you did with the awesome cleaner. My next cleaning I will try awesome cleaner along with the RV awing cleaner I usually use as a second coat because my tt sits out in the sun and I need UV protection. Great video.

You could probably use a low pressure washer with a 40 degree angle and hold the tip about 8" off the vinal.

It's been 2 years now,how is your awning after using awesome? I used it straight on a box fan and it took the paint off.
My awning is good I just cleaned it again with it. Just rinse it good. I mix water with it also to dilute it. My mixture is at the end of the video. Thanks for watching

Why do awnings always get wrinkly after they are cleaned? First time I did It i was worried that i ruined it. But over time it went back to normal

When you roll your awning in, you don't have to worry about leaves and sticks being rolled up with it, awnings roll in from the bottom.

To avoid spraying your face retract the awning slightly and spray the top and roll it up. The bottom side of the awning contacts the top as it's rolled up. 👌

I'd be concerned that the chemicals you're putting on the awning are going to break it down? The bleach especially.
