Noble indeed. I'm definitely signing up for your website. I look forward to your articles on Lego topics and whatnot. You fo' sho bring a vibrant light to the Lego world. 👍
awesome website, very clean! your "why do we like to build with lego" articles are a very nice read, reasons 3. 5. 6. 9 and 12 are for me the main reasons why i build with lego. if i could i would also prefer to have my own blog site for posts and videos, youtube is not that great, you are living the dream ;-)
Simon, another refreshing article. Taking all the "guff" out of the Lego Community. Will be delighted to stay in contact with everyone in your community!! All the best mate!!
The message in this video hits home. Big time. As an adult who works full-time, working on Lego is certainly an escape. But, being a content creator on top of it all, and the timely pressures that comes along with that, it becomes overwhelming. Thanks for this video, Simon. I’ll visit your website, soon.
Oh yes I've no doubt you can 100% relate to what I was talking about on video work being overly time intensive Joel! I've started to feel less worried about the 'time-pressure' you speak of, its almost relieving to not be beholden to the YT algorithm. Yes my videos are getting less views these days as a result of publishing less frequently, but it's worrying me less and less as I'm no longer trying to be a Lego 'TH-camr'. I just want to publish cool things and hopefully valued content when I can / have the time.
I subscribed the newsletter (of course) ! On the website, great articles to start with, very insightful. I am glad and congrat you, that your follow you own direction (unlike 90% of Lego YT channel😅) I am more and more into alternate model and building from fan designer MOC. The pleasure and building XP is always enhanced 🎉
Thank you! I'm just working on a new video now, and I'll write up the next article in a few weeks! Thanks as always for commenting and being positive Wizard of Bricks, and I hear you, there's so much more joy to be had building custom Lego models versus standard Lego sets. : )
Hi Simon Just checked out your site nice work. I build to relax and Im still thinking about doing youtube just finished collect every friends set just not all the mag bags. Lego is ment to relax so just do what makes to happy. Thats why I havent started youtube just yet
Sounds good. I think as far as creating TH-cam content do it if its something you think you will enjoy and don't need to take seriously. Else if you don't feel that way and it feels like work then yes perhaps not the best...
Checked it out and nice to see "fresh" Lego related content other than the usual gibberish (top x Lego sets, upcoming Lego sets, etc) and the nonsensical trash (how I moved my massive Lego collection, how I build my x out Lego). For me, I never got to play with Lego as a child and here I am as an AFOL.
I really appreciate that you took the time to check out my articles and commented. Thank you. I'm working on new post at the moment, but my thinking on posting every 4-6 weeks may have been idyllic! That's ok, maybe I'll follow the mantra of 'less, but better' and not worry about having to post all the time. Have a great week!
Maydayfigs has done something similar by making content on how custom Star Wars minifigures are made and how PAD printing on official parts has changed the game for custom LEGO.
Thanks for the heads-up on Maydayfigs Lachlan. I watched several of his videos, he's very engaging and smooth delivery style. And has narrowed in, as you say, on an interesting niche!
