Made your snowflake biscuits tonight and followed all your tips. The rose high and were light and flaky. Not bad for someone raised in So. California (but live in the Midwest now). I can make good biscuits. Pillsbury can keep their cans. Thanks Patara for all you share.

In home ec in high school, one if the classes was how to make biscuits. I was making them like I learned from grandma and mama. The teacher told me I was doing it all wrong. Bashful me didn't say I'd been making biscuits for at least 6 years and had made a dozen for breakfast that very morning. I tried to do it her way. I didn't like them, but she was happy so good enough.

My grandma always put butter on her plate and she’d mix, molasses, honey, maple syrup or even jam and smear that on those hot fresh biscuits also on cornbread! She was an amazing cook but she would tell ya she was just an old Okie cook.

Aw, I always think of Nathalie Dupree when I see two ingredient biscuits. A million years ago a very sweet young Southern neighbor taught me how she made biscuits. This was way back when we were both military brides living in Germany and it was the same tips you shared here. One little extra thing she did was to take her biscuit and drop it in the hot pan then quickly flip it over so that it had butter both top and bottom. You are doing so many people a good service with these tips, Patara...thank you and keep up the good work.

Perfect timing. Received a personal lesson on bread making just last week. Biscuits was next on my agenda. Moving to a off grid location at 4100 ft in the Tamarack Mountains of Idaho in the Payette National Forest. I figured that I needed to add these two skills to be more self sufficient. Bless you.

    Dearest Patera,
As a previous resident of Appalachia (the SW Va brand) I caught your YT channel a number of months ago and have been hooked ever since. On a prior biscuit-making video you said you were going to also do a sausage gravy video. I don't do FB or IG so perhaps you uploaded a gravy video there? If you can, can you include one on YT?
And since I'm being shamelessly forward in my requests ... please do more singing! The milk maid should sing to the cow(s) at every milking, don't you think? 😊 (I love your voice).
Thanks for a great channel ... it's become one of my favorites.

My dear hubby grew up in Boston, MA. I am native Texan. The first time I cooked biscuits and gravy, he sort of looked at the plate like a calf looks at a new gate, and said " Gravy???? For BREAKFAST???".

Ok. I think you got me. This one was so what I needed to see. 15-20 minutes to warm the oven while i mix the dough. Got a pan like that already, while its baking I am frying my eggs. 35 to 40 minutes egg and cheese biscuits wrapped in parchment and in my lunch bag. Remote start my truck, toss on my people skills and off to work I go. I so needed help on this issue. Thank you.

You don't even know how much I appreciate your step-by-step biscuit videos. My mamaw from SE Kentucky made such wonderful biscuits. My mom said she never could make them like hers. One of my aunts was supposed to make a video to teach me Ma's biscuits, but never did. Now I feel like I can try them out and my mom can be the judge of how I did. Love ya!

Patera, I felt so happy watching this video with my husband. You have my Butterfly Corelle plate, my flat iron skillet and a flour sifter. Made me feel like you were in my kitchen. My 98 year old mom recently gave me her flour sifter which is from the 1950s. My husband said “will you make me some of those two ingredient biscuits?”
Heavy whipping cream is not something I keep so do you think I could use the powdered heavy cream from Hoosier? That way I wouldn’t be throwing out a partial carton of the heavy whipping cream.

I love this recipe.🥰. I saw it a few months ago and tried it. I thought I’d eye the measurements. That didn’t work for me. I’m a pinch and dash girl but this one definitely needed measuring for me. I also add a spoon of sugar to the mix. It balances out the salt in the self rising flour. Tastes exactly like my 75 yo moms biscuits. Sooo good.

Patara, I swear by White Lily unbleached as well! Been using it for many years now. Can't make my biscuits without it. I've always done the butter and buttermilk method, and I pinch of "choke off" the biscuits as my Grandma used to say, and then pat them into what my Daddy called 'cathead' biscuits. But when I have the time, and table space , I like to roll them out, fold my dough in thirds (like puff pastry) and cut them out. I end up with nice layers to my biscuits, and they're lighter than the catheads, but my Mississippi country boy Daddy liked his biscuits a bit sturdier than I do! 😄

We grew up on biscuits for a weekend breakfast etc...like many grew up on cinnamon rolls. That and darkly brewed tea made in a big pot then milk and sugar added; we laddled at the table. For us, biscuits were served with butter (well margarine most times), honey, and jams etc...; the condiments determined how special of a breakfast and I can remember orange butter for holidays.

I’ve been up around the clock for almost 3 weeks . I have 1 child who had surgery and is on heavy medication that needs monitoring and as luck would have it I also have 1 dog who ended up in life saving surgery who now has 22 stitches.
In my sleep deprived fog I set out to make biscuits only to realize someone used my whipping cream or I left it at the store. Anyway I’m happy to report they worked with regular milk. I’m sure they were not as luxurious as yours but it’s good to know it can be done with regular milk in a pinch.

    Hello from TX Ms. Patara.
    Hope you all doing well.
    Thanks for sharing this video.
This weekend I was watching all your biscuits videos. I am going to start making our biscuits for Buscuits and Gravy. My husband likes that, but I hate to buy them in the store....who knows what's in them. Besides that I went to the store yesterday and the whole shelf of the canned bread products was empty. I am glad I got interested on making our own. I like your recipe on how to make them with regular milk and add the vinegar to the milk. Heavy whipping cream is expensive.
Thanks again for these refresher on the tips and tricks.....and yes I got it....DONT TWIST THE CUTTER, DOWN AND UP ONLY 🤣🤣
Thank you, thank you, thank you....
    Have a blessed week ma'am.
    Keep up the good work.
    God bless you

I have given up on all the other biscuits and have made these every time I want really good biscuits. I can make these all most as fast as I used to open a can of biscuits that you buy at the store. This is so easy and they come out really great every time. Try a Lot of gravy on top or honey butter, Jelly works well. I eat them with my eggs and bacon.

I just made these, using the White Lily flour and milk. Never used White Lily or self rising before. O. M. G! Best biscuit we have EVER had before!!! Ate it plain with just butter, because, really, was the best without anything on it! Thank you!!!

I haven't been able to find White Lily flour up here in Rochester, NY. I miss it, my sister in law introduced me to it when I lived in Alabama.

Drop biscuits are the most I’ve tried. These look worth rolling 😄

I'm going to try making biscuits with King Arthur flour Keto wheat. I can't get past the gritty almond taste of most low carb flours!
