Initially, I wasn't a fan of Steve Spurrier. He appeared cocky and arrogant. But I immediately changed my mind after he was interviewed at the end of this game. He flat out told the reporter during the post game interview that his Florida Gators flat out got their asses kicked and praised Nebraska. After that moment, I had huge respect for the Old Ball Coach. I was rooting for the Gators against FSU the following season for the Nat. Championship. I miss watching Steve Spurrier coached teams on the sidelines.

Not many head coaches say that after a game when in fact they did get wasted. Most coaches make excuses saying...., "well,....we didn't follow our assignments and didn't execute." And more excuses. It was a tough pill to swallow especially when most critics stated that Nebraska played in a cup cake Big 12 conference whereas the Gators came out of the SEC undefeated. No one expected this blowout at that time when Nebraska had the reputation of folding in big bowl games. Sorry @Rob Johnson, your analysis is incorrect - mic drop.

Even though Nebraska is not the team they were back then,They still have the best turnout of any College football team in history and even the NFL as far as filling the stadium with fans
I was soph at UF during this time... but I was also an Omaha native. I was friends (and still am) with a number of the UF players on the this team. For about a month before and month after this game, I was easily the most hated kid on campus.
Fond, fond memories of the ONLY Husker bowl game I ever attended live! I could write a book, but a couple of my favorite things were the sack and safety of Danny Boy, as this video pictures. I call the Fun 'N Gun the "Fun 'N Stun"! 🤣😂 Another fave thing was filing out of the stadium, watching Spurrier whine and cry like a 3-year old on the big screens! 😭 The Gators and their fans were shell-shocked, just like us Husker fans KNEW they would be!!! #greatestteamincollegefootballhistory !!! 🏈😁💖👏👏👏

I am 70 now, and my oldest nephew George was a walk-on for the Cornhusker secondary. So very proud of him, as at age 42, he is now a fine cancer surgeon at a leading hospital here in Omaha!!! 💕💕 I'll tell you another story about the pre-game: Two buddies and I drove down to Tempe as a last minute decision. We drove straight through for 24 hours. We had to stay the night in Globe, New Mexico, which was 50 miles from Sun Devil Stadium. Anyway, as we walked to the stadium before the game, there were two young, tall, and good-looking Gator boy fans walking across the street from us. They were dressed very nicely with their starched denim, white shirts, orange ties, and Gator caps. I wore my 1994 Husker National Championship sweatshirt with great pride! The boys began to talk smack to us, so I just smiled and said; "Boys, I just want you two to remember ONE THING: You are in for the SHOCK of your lives!!! 😁😁 I imagine they still recall what I told them to this day! This game was my PROUDEST MOMENT as a Cornhusker fan! My daddy got me to follow the Cornhuskers with him in 1962 when I was 11 years old, in Bob Devaney's first season. Sadly, I think the Husker Glory Days are long gone in my lifetime! 😢 In 8 days I will be a HUGE Buckeye fan as they take the the mighty Crimson Tide and the SEC! Thanks buddy! Thanks for commenting. In this game, I don't believe he threw his visor. I remember a game against Vanderbilt, I forgot the year, where I think he threw it a couple of times. Vanderbilt had a good defense late in Spurrier's regime with the the Gators. The Vandy defense annoyed Spurrier at times with some good players like Corey Chavous and Jamie Duncan. I hope to see that GIF of Spurrier throwing his visor one day. Thanks again for watching.

Really interesting stuff, and Nebraska could've won 5 in a row in the 90s undefeated they totally should've won 1993 bad calls and that punt returned got called back for some odd reason also Nebraska should have like 8 or 9 national titles undefeated today Nebraska has gotten screwed a lot in the past and done it to themselves. Before the game, a lot of the people on the sports news voted for Florida to win this game, and in the postgame, all of them were saying how good Nebraska played "tonight" lmao, and that game was really Fiesta Bowl for Nebraska.

That 95 Florida team was one of the 10 best teams of the 90s but only 2nd best in 95! Nebraska was a unstoppable machine back then!
I'm a FSU fan... that 95 FL team had one of the best seasons ever!!... until they came up on Nebraska....

I was a Kindergartner at Avondale Elementary School 1995-96.
