Call me tone deaf but I couldn’t find any difference between their sounds. They are both amazing sounding and beautiful. Then again, the musician operating them makes all the difference; wonderful playing, they sound like pianos with all their range. Thank you!

I don't know they both sound incredible, mostly because of the way you play! I would have to give it to the Tal Farlow model. The way those notes jumped out with that touch of reverb was just beautiful. I think the Tal was better at projecting all the subtleties. But they are such beautiful instruments, it's all academic. They are both "gems"!!

Little difference but overall I think the Tal is a bit smoother sounding. Especially on Laura. Larger neck?
I never did bond with my Tal. Neck was too long for me. Very smooth in your hands. The longer I listen to it the more I prefer it over the Heritage. Just clean and the notes just pop out. Your playing superb. Especially those octave lines. Just killer. Love your mastery of the tune and effortless playing. Shally

It is so cool to watch and listen to your playing. Both fantastic sounding instruments but the Farlow seems to have more depth to me. Thanks as usual for your amazing playing.

Hi Rich! I love the sound of both, owning a heritage sweet 16 and a tal farlow. I give the Tal a mere 5% more sparkle...just my opinion...thanks for this post...

Nice video, Rich! I almost think the Tal is slightly louder?

Beautiful playing, curious what year the heritage guitar is.

Great left hand technique. No high finger lifts and thumb always in the right place.

Why do you have to chose? Keep both of them, two guitars is twice the joy :D

tradin' eights on Pent Up House. Honestly, your sound is your sound, which is awesome. I'm guessing we might have trouble in a blind fold test with you playing a Telecaster and a Super 400 with your same string set up and using your volume and tone setting to get to similar sounds.

I am certainly not an expert on jazz guitars. But I am in the process of wanting to take up jazz guitar and I am looking. I thought the heritage had a little smoother slightly warmer sound to me. And I do like a little bit smaller neck. So if I had to make a choice being as ignorant, as I am about jazz guitars, and never have played either one of them just watching the video. I would lean towards the heritage.

Nice review! Heritage H 550 has an ebony fretboard not rosewood.

Today I noticed that Farlow used 15' strings. (Beato or Scofield said it in an interview).
They sound both great. But the Heritage looks better.

Of course string selection is great 👍, has much to do with similarities... in dealing with such a similar instrument.... both excellent quality...it's all about what feels better...? I do agree with you on neck pickup close to neck! ; ) THANKS RICH

Wow, both fantastic with fantastic as is your playing. Do my ears deceive me, or is the Heritage a bit airier or more vibrant and open sounding whereas the Tal has a tighter, solid sound. Hard for me to describe, but what I hear from the Tal is almost the same as the Heritage - minus some airy vibration. That being said, I prefer the Gibson this time, but not by much.

Two wonderful looking and sounding guitars. I thought the Tal Farlow had particular clarity and depth to it.

For my ears, listening through good speakers, the Heritage sounds a tiny bit more acoustical, whereas the Gibson sounds like the ideal electric jazz arch top; Of the two I certainly 'take' the Gibson.

Tal Farlow may be on more fat/solid side to my liking. Both sweet... Remember videotaping Farlow in London on the fly in the 90's 😎

You sound the same on every guitar. Every guitar sounds like an L5 when you play. Even the GB10. Its in the hands and head. You could make a squire sound like a Box

Stupid place for the pickup switch

    • @jerasowilo8817
      @jerasowilo8817 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

As a player of a Gibson Tal Farlow I realized the pickup switch is there for a reason I guess: switching faster from neck pickup to bridge one for the false harmonics Tal was using very often in the middle of a solo.
Using the pinky to switch fast from the closer switch is easier than going up the guitar to switch; we can see Tal doing it in the Great Guitar video with Charly Byrd from 1994 or 5
