Enjoying the replay here in Thailand. Regarding jazz music dying, I used to go to John Pisano's Guitar Night when it was at Spazios on Ventura Blvd in Sherman Oaks. I was in my mid-50s then and I was the youngest person in the room then. The music might be rediscovered by a new generation at some point. Everything old becomes new again.

Your economy of motion is enviable, sometimes it appears you're not playing the movement is so subtle and precise. Beautiful guitars, you always play beautiful jazz guitars!
This guitarist makes all his guitars sound great because he plays cool and in a lazy manner with a good swing and the right approaches you can listen to all the time
L5 -> jazzy, smooth, full, clean, defined, focused SOUND.
P.S. Come to Vegas! It's close to L.A. and the O.C. beaches when we need to go,but it's cost effective to live here.

I had an l5 and it was nice but not in a band setting unless it's acoustic bass and a drummer with brushes

YES! Just listen to ANYTHING by Wes Montgomery. Ibanez has done a decent job of copying the sound with the GB10 and the Pat Metheney model,but if you can afford it,the L-5 is the way to go. You can also try installing the Gibson Custom 57 pickups in your favorite archtop if you're pressed for cash.
The 775 sounds fuzzy. The sound isn’t clean. Something going on?

The L5 was the prototype for all jazz guitars
so it's good - wish I (any many other) could afford one?
The TF sounds at least so good as the L 5!
Ive found the best guitar for Jazz is, whatever your playing .. it really doesn't matter..
I don't agree. While you can play jazz on whatever you have you won't get the tone and satisfaction of playing a real jazz box. I have a arsenal of various guitars with a mix of solid body and hollow body guitars. What do you think I use for my jazz tastes, the archtops of course. Quite a difference in tones and feel. Naturally I have heavier strings including some flatwound on my archtops. 10-46 on the solid body electric. Minimum of 12s on the hollow body.

I'm a (Ashamed to admit it) Californian as well, and you're right. Music is just not a thing here. There's nowhere to play out, nobody cares about live music, and it's tough to find other musicians to play with(Especially decent Jazz players), and I live 10 miles from San Francisco, so It's not like I'm in the middle of nowhere. There's no culture here anymore because the majority is foreign and sticks to themselves and basically just works to pay the high cost of living......But the weather IS nice 😀.
Check out some shows by pianist Larry Vuckovich. He lives up in Calistoga ( Napa County ) but plays gigs ( including Yoshi's ) around the Bay Area, often in the company of a young guitarist named Kai Lyons. These guys are very accessible and I'm sure they'd share some names of players for you to hook up with.
