    I joined the " sensitivity " 90 , and " linearity " at 2 club :
    Thank you whoever mentioned this setting as it's a massive improvement ! Literal game changer with what feels like an extra dimension of precision through corners. I'm now able to do corrections and even pendulum turning without the default high input curve spinning the car out. Tarmac still sucks though the gravel is made sublime with better input through the slides ..

    I kept all of the linearity etc at normal, a lot of the braking and steering can be done with low engine braking, weight transfer and pumping the gas to find traction, and controlled acceleration is easy enough on asphalt with stock settings - PS5 😄

    Playing on Xbox series x. Main thing I have trouble with is the instability of the steering. On many stages, the roads are very narrow - and when steering into a bend then correcting the slide out of the turn, I find the car is then uncontrollably jerking left and right, left and right, left and right leading to always hitting a wall coming to a dead stop - or ending up on the slope either side of the road and careering down the hillside or into the trees. Is there any settings that will improve this?

  • @danneh125
    @danneh125 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Since you never have to up shift and use the handbrake I’ve always had down on X up on square and the handbrake on circle it’s so easy to pull the handbrake whilst downshifting, I agree with others here using R1/L1 for gears is stupid

    • @ZetaReticuli_1
      @ZetaReticuli_1 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not stupid at all. It's so natural to do it because it reminds any human being of the IRL paddle shifters. It comes naturally and it's far more realistic.

    linear (0) steering, example:
    gamepad input 25%, the steering in the game is 25%.
    gamepad input 60%, the steering in the game is 60%.
    gamepad input 100%, steering in the game is 100%.
    unlinear steering, example:
    gamepad input 20%, the steering in the game is 10%.
    gamepad input 50%, the steering in the game is 41%.
    gamepad input 80%, the steering in the game is 78%.
    gamepad input 100%, steering in the game is 100%.

  • @thewarmwind6171
    @thewarmwind6171 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    Steering linearity is how linear the curve of steering input is vs how exponential it is. A graph would best describe it, as that's what it's describing, how linear the input graph is vs how curved it is. A more curved input graph will give you more precision on small inputs, but less precision on large inputs and make the steering feel less responsive. A more linear input graph will have less precision on small inputs but more precision on large inputs, and will feel more responsive.
    It's very much a personal preference thing. If you're struggling with precision on tighter turns, turn steering linearity up. If you're struggling with precision on wider turns, turn steering linearity down. Personally I prefer a more linear curve, giving me precision on those tight turns and a more responsive feeling overall.
    Also don't play with deadzones. Ever. The only benefit of deadzones is if your controller is suffering from stick drift, deadzones will prevent accidental input. If your controller is healthy, remove deadzones and adjust linearity to your preference.

    • @PLAYER_42069
      @PLAYER_42069 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Having small deadzones on triggers can make cars less twitchy for those who don't have good throttle control, yet. Especially, for RWD cars. It also mimics real life because there is a slight delay between when you press down on the accelerator and you move forward. The delay can help with throttle discipline. So, telling people to "never. Ever." adjust deadzones is imposing your own personal preference that is subjective, not objective.

    • @thewarmwind6171
      @thewarmwind6171 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@xNachtmahRx Linear curve is an oxymoron. The curve gets more linear as you raise the setting. The line gets more curved as you lower it.

    • @thewarmwind6171
      @thewarmwind6171 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@PLAYER_42069 I don't think you're getting what a deadzone is. It has no impact on the speed at which input is registered. All it does is make a portion of your input unusable or "dead". This can help with faulty or failing equipment that isn't registering 100% or 0% input correctly, but beyond that it only removes usable input. Any feel in terms of delay of input is a placebo effect.

    Why would you put the shift on the bumpers and not the handbrake. Most controller players dont use clutch i assume, so why not just put the handbrake on the bumper so you dont have to move your finger of the brake and gas to shift? Thats a bad tip from a player that doesnt play on controller much.

    Fun facts : your finger muscles are way more precise than your arm's. Stop spreading the mantra "stick is not precise". Like for everything it is a matter of training and practice. Put the deadzone as low as your hardware allows for it (until you potentially hit stick drift issue, if older hardware), you will be better off learning precise movement rather than letting your brain believe that for 20% nothing will happen and as consequence just stick to the habbit of "flick 100% left to right", hence spreading that mantra of "stick is not precise".

    • @terrylu4894
      @terrylu4894 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      fingers maybe more precise however steerimg wheels have 540 rotation with a diameter of 20 cm or so, but stick on gamepad can only swipe around 100 degree from left to right with a length of 3cm long. So yes playing with wheels is more precise.
