When you kicked on the onboard distortion, I was like "please play something fingerpicked, because that would be..." and then you went into Money For Nothing and it was perfection. Playing my graphite-neck Steinberger while I'm watching this, so I would love it and work it hard.
Hey Cletus. Several years ago I remember reading about how the riff is very tricky to play note for note. Paul Davids did a video breakdown a few years ago and it was in my suggested videos and I thought, how hard can it be. It definitely took some work to get it 85%. I'm not sure if it's worth putting the time in to get it down perfectly. I play mostly fingerstyle these days and I'd rather woodshed Cannonball Rag or at least a Steely Dan solo! this guitar looks great for gigs.
Great for the road and if you're like me and you've done enough gigs where you've learned that less is more and almost none is even better (I've even shown up for gigs in which I knew several bands were on the bill banking on using an amp on stage already). This is the perfect backup but the pickups are good enough to play a gig and sound good (I said great at first but since I'm not a great player, I doubt they'd sound great. LOL). Mark

Hey Charles. I finished the video and I was about to upload and the first wave of big youtubers (Darrell Braun, Tyler, Sean Daniel) all put out videos and I thought, ah, I'll wait a couple of days. The difference between me and them, I didn't get compensated (I was offered but I love the guitar and I wanted to let people know without anybody thinking I'm biased). That's not a dig on those guys. They work their asses off and deserve compensation for sure. Mark

i had to make another post about this Enya guitar. that it has a speaker is cool. i'm impressed by how good it sounds. talk about a great travel guitar. this is it. and then it has effects on top of that. like having a pedalboard built in. i've got to win this guitar. i'm headed over to X to make a post.
Sorry for the delayed response. My brother had a stroke. A massive one. I've been in NY and I'm heading back soon. The flat black is nice. I wanted a red one but they had some production issues with the first run so it was like Henry Ford and the model T. You can get it in any color, as long as it's black. :)

Sorry I missed the actual premiere time, Mark, but I was just blown away by this review! I have been looking at a few carbon fiber acoustics, but didn't realize that Enya had an electric! This one could solve a lot of problems for me. I may seriously look into getting one. (Or winning one? :) ) As always, Mark, love your channel and your playing.

I like how easily you can get a good neck angle while seated. It will be interesting to see what future body styles become available in carbon, the more ergonomic the better! What is your opinion on sustain for the carbon body guitars you have examined?
The acoustic CF guitars have AMAZING resonance. Anybody that says they can't compare to wood isn't listening. I would say short of a high end acoustic, they ring truer than anything. As far as an electric is concerned, I'm not a tone wood guy. I've seen too many guys make guitars out of a sink with nice pickups bridge nut and frets and make it sound amazing. The feedback on this guy can be hard to control at times (only with the speaker). The pickups punch well above the price in my opinion. Mark

I love the guitar and I wanted people to know how I feel about it without any kind of benefit. Hopefully, they will keep sending them and I will keeping giving them away but always have one around for a short time. LOL.
Good review Mark! I can honestly say the only thing that would prevent me from purchasing this guitar is the lack of fret markers on the face of the neck.
That is my only reservation as well. I think I may order and then apply some fret marker stickers and see how they hold up.
I personally have no issues with my Harley Benton V that has no fretboard markers, though I'd understand being worried about that before buying. I'd suggest just going for it if that's the only problem
Hey Charles. My students can attest to the fact that I never notice that. For the first 15 years of playing I tended to always be looking at the neck. I put the guitar down for about 4 years from 2008 to 2012. When I reemerged and started really practicing harder than ever, I never looked at the neck at all and I've developed my current technique that way. It's definitely much better for singing. It wasn't conscious. I apologize for the delay in getting back to you. My brother had a massive stroke and I've been trying to take care of him. I'm flying back to NY in a couple of days. @@8MinuteAxe I guess I fall under the category of "Old Dogs" and am just used to seeing the markers, LOL! I have a lap steel on the way from Rondo Music, so that will be a new thing. Sorry to hear about your brother, I hope he will recover from that stroke. I am still recovering from a TURP procedure I had done over 6 weeks ago. Such is life. Best to 'ya!

As I mentioned, I am currently learning to play ukulele, and a couple of my friends who are the ones getting me into the instrument both bought Enya made carbon fibre ukuleles. Both love their instruments. They play well, and they can bring them to the many outdoor festivals in our community and not have any problems keeping them in tune around the campfires. It is nice to see real innovation in instruments that are affordable for the average musician.

Carl. Lately, my OCD seems to be getting worse. I've been playing quite a lot of broom lately. The garage went from fitting 0 cars to fitting both cars to fitting both cars and having room to run laps (and the garage isn't that big). The kitchen cabinets are also getting cleaned these days. I bought one of these a couple days ago I just got it yesterday haven't really got to mess with it yet but I do have a positive grid spark 40 and I'm also planning on running it through my Roland AC 90 as for I am a street busker and have been using acoustic electric wirelessly and my vocals are also wireless can't wait to try this out going to probably on Sunday at Westgate West Mall in San Jose have a nice day

Will Enya make a full size Les Paul style carbon fiber guitar?
They are the nicest people (I met many of them at NAMM) and they were open to all kinds of suggestions. If you're a bigger guy then it may be a bit small in your hands. The scale is full size (24.75) but the footprint is about the size of the GS mini. I hope that helps. Mark
This may seem trivial, but I'm curious: what string gauges does the guitar come with?
I ask because some guitars retain tuning better with thicker gauges, but those gauges make it harder to stretch the strings.

I bought the nova go travel guitar 1 year ago, and my guitar teacher said I should have buy a true wood guitar for my first guitar. He said that because of the size (even though I'm 4'11 ) . Im thinking about buying this guitar, since i want to play eletric..I think the size is similar so im not sure. What do you think, this guitar is okkay for a beginner and as a first eletic guitar? Thank you
If you're 4 11, I can't think of a better guitar. FYI, I don't make a cent if you buy one. The links in the description go to the Enya website and I have no arrangement with them. Dust bowl!!! I remember when you were trapped on an island. The body is sealed. Even the string through body has a rubber gasket like stopper. @8MinuteAxe hey Mark. Sorry to hear about yr brother. I had an ischaemic stroke during heart surgery in 2017. Docs said it would heal over time and they were pretty correct. I had issues left side, lower leg, left hand and left eye. Leg has occasional issues, left hand now ok apart from numb fingertips, (I can play longer now) but left eye is still bung. Blind spot about 10%, but I can work around it, though if I'm driving it can be a hassle at intersections and I sometimes miss seeing an approaching vehicle.
I got your email, but I was in a remotish part of the Philippines, and had lost all comms when I tried to reply. I have a friend who's house was destroyed when the Mayon volcano 🌋 popped its cork and had a biggish grumble. I was in Japan, third trip to finish buying a house there so I can avoid winter altogether. I'll fly north when it starts getting cold here, and come back when it starts to get cold there. It's on an island in the Korean Strait, out from Nagasaki. Beautiful place. Iki is the name of the island. I bought an Akiya - empty house - for $750 USD plus $2500 fees and charges. It was in good shape. Needed some glass, a little plumbing and some paint. Now have a nice holiday house for just under $9k. On the way back I stopped in the Philippines and moved my friend away from Mayon, and built a respectable house by welding 3 shipping containers together. Fitted windows, doors, plumbing, air com, wiring etc. There was a chap built a nice home from containers on the island where I used to live, and that gave me the idea. Still have some things to do there so I'll head back soon to finish it off, then continue on to Japan for the Northern summer.
There was a major quake in Japan during my second trip there, and a Tsunami warning was issued for Iki, but one wave came ashore, only 3' high, and well downhill from my house. Japan, now a highly urbanised country has a problem with empty houses. Kids move to the cities, and the older folks stay in the rural towns, and on farms. When the older folks die, their kids don't want the houses because of the crippling death taxes, so they just stay empty.It's a huge problem, and Japan has 8 million Akiya that nobody wants. City administrations can't get rid of them, and can't collect taxes on them. Iki is a reasonably large island and has 140 odd Akiya. There are over 2000 in the Nagasaki admin area alone.
I've given up trying to avoid the vortex. I'm on the Reverb mailing list and my friendly luthier always calls me up when he has one for sale, and I always decline, but next day I always find an excuse to drop in and almost always get 'sucked down'.
The Emerald is in Customs now. I have to go pay the taxes, and collect it, but that's a 1000km round trip. Emerald have a 6/12 double neck I'm considering, but I'm keen to buy an Eastwood Classic 12 first. I heard RJ Ronquillo, the factory test pilot, giving one a workout and it sounded huge.

I would say the only thing negative is that there are no fret markers. With the price and features, it seems more geared for beginners that would benefit from those as well.

Hey Andy. Good catch. I seem to collect guitars without markers (unintentional). It seems like I always grab one right before an online lesson and then I have to grab another and tune it when my student reminds me. LOL. I'm sorry it took so long to get back to you and that I haven't been in touch lately. My brother had a major stroke a couple of weeks ago and I've been flying up to NY and it's just a tough situation all around. It's going to be a long recovery and the word recovery is very relative. How thick is the neck?? This is a huge factor in determining whether it's right for my average size hands. Unfortunately Enya's website doesn't tell us the measurements. It only says "asymmetric profile" instead of telling us the actual measurements. So is it moderately thin like PRS's Pattern Thin neck? Is it amazingly thin like an Ibanez Wizard neck? Or is it frustratingly thick like a typical Gibson (too thick for most people.)
Great questions. I have an american made PRS with the pattern thin neck and it's nowhere near as thin as that. And it's not flat like the Ibanez. I used to love the PRS neck as I have small hands. Lately I've been gravitating more to the modern C strat neck. The neck is similar to the modern D thin neck on the Epiphone "inspired by Gibson LPs and 335s. Normally that would be a tad too much for my liking but because the body is so small and the fact that it does have a little bit asymmetry to it, it's actually very comfortable. Usually the thicker necks bother me on the lower frets but this guitar is so small that unless you're a few inches shorter than me (I'm 5 6) I don't think it will be a deal breaker. Hey Scott. I can't give you a definitive answer but I will say this much. I met many of the people from Enya at NAMM in January and they were some of the nicest and most genuine people there. I don't endorse many products and one of the things I "demand" (maybe not the best choice of words) from any company that I recommend is that they have over the top customer service. FFS! First, harley benton start selling a cheaper version. Then enya release an improved version. both in the same week, right after I bought my sp1🤨🤨
I'm a big fan of Harley Benton guitars but I'm also not a super picky guy (I don't think I've ever checked if a guitars paint job is perfect or anything even close). For those that are, HB is a tough call because the return is pricey. The SP1 I'd a great guitar and I wouldn't consider a mistake at all. It may be my favorite sounding speaker. Mark
@@8MinuteAxe this particular harley b is literally an sp1 with a rebadged headstock..haven't even changed the enya logo shaped soundhole.. at first I did wonder what enya were thinking by supplying em. But the release of this version kind of explains it I guess.
is it the same app as the nova go ? or a new app and if so does it still demand accurate GPS data before you can customize the presets ?
nobody in any reviews ever talked about this so i only discovered this unnecessary evil after buying the nova go.
