I'm from East KY. I've driven overbuilt Macks That were Tandem axle. Could gross 88000 lb. But the empty weight was 34500 lb
Then my short hood 16ft box tri-axle L9000 weighed in at 26500 lb. Could go 500 miles on a tank of fuel. And gross 80000 lb so last load out of the quarry
Would be 27 ton or so. 300hp L10 8LL 44000 LB Hendrickson. 4:64 rears
No AC hand crank tarp 10ft 6in tall at top of rolled up tarp bar.

Switching to a smaller engine how does it haul fully loaded on hills?

That long frame truck needs a tool box or something behind the cab. Silly to have that wasted space. At the very least a place to put a shovel and broom and a few basics.
