One of the worst things about this ending came when I was older. I was really young when I started playing this game so I only learned much later on that the DMW represents Zack's thoughts and that the reason it was fading to white was because Zack's life was literally flashing before his eyes. His mind was literally shutting down as his body began to break from all of his injuries and he slowly but surely began to die. Seriously, that is psychotically fucking cruel. Shinra are some truly evil bastards.
The second reel is what fucks me up the most. Even when everyone else fades, Aerith stayed around in the DMW. Clinging to her and his drive to see her again was the only thing that kept Zack going as long as he did, but eventually even that reached his physical limit (Aerith if I recall corresponds to a recovery effect if you match her so in gameplay terms it's almost dangling the idea of a second-wind to survive the fight if someone doesn't know Zack's fate from VII, which I think was in optional cutscenes)

Crisis Core seems made in a sort of stark contrast to a major element of FF7's story. FF7 is famous for how sudden and (all thing considered) un-foreshadowed/unprompted Aerith's death is, effective because it shows how abruptly death can hit someone and turn the entire world upside down for friends and loved ones. Going back to this after watching plenty of Reunion and Rebirth reactions, I just wanted to say: I'm gonna call it now, Reunion won't be a full on Remake of Crisis Core. Either a secret ending or THE ending of the game will explore more on how Zack survived that fight. And what happens before he goes to the Church to see Aerith. And it'll connect with Rebirth. :3
This game is still a core memory. My father funny enough was the one to introduce me to FF7. Compared to the other FFs though? It wasn't necessarily my favorite. The characters and fights were cool and there were many great (and sad) moments but I didn't care for it nearly as much as others did. Until I played Crisis Core. CC gave me so much context that made me fall in love with FF7 way more than the original had done. Being half Japanese I often went to Japan to visit grandparents during our long near 2 month summer breaks and on one of those trips I had my PSP. I played these final moments on in the first hour or so after being allowed to use electronics. I cried so damn hard on that plane. Having you play out that last bit is just brutal but God damn did it hit hard because of it. Such an amazing game.

The first game to ever make me cry, for about 3 day straight thinking about the ending.
"Maybe if I hold on (to this fight) for a few minutes"
Poor, shuba, we call that copium T_T
Sephiroth; "Nibelheim."
Subaru: "UAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"
ザックスとエアリスの会話聞いてると鈴村夫婦の会話聞こえてしまう病気にかかってしまったらしい…
Watching this after the 1 hour clipped footage of you laying FFVII: Remake! Change the future, indeed!!!
no joke this ending had me on one for a while, hella sad but we all knew it was coming from playing FF7 and reading the books and getting into Clouds messed up memories.
I love how much of a fan Subaru is of FF7 and Crisis Core. I love this duck for that. 💙
I remember this part when I first played it, I legit thought I could've changed the ending and defeat everyone T_T
Why are we here...just to suffer..
This hits different after remake. Part 2 when.
Its still sad...
RIP Zack
He, Gongaga
I did literally cried when I saw the ending
"I'm gonna change the future!"
One remake later, she did
2:48 スバルの「でぇーーーっ!」だけで
it's happening!!!

Its Ok Subaru I Am Here!
"Tseng is such a nice guy" LMFAO.
Lmao
Tseng has good taste in clothes
Crisis Core ending .... i cried and cried and cried under my pillow wanting to ensure my parents in the next room won't hear me and find out i cried because of video games . . . .
