    After more than thirty years of service as one of the Navy’s top aviators, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him. When he finds himself training a detachment of Top Gun graduates for a specialized mission the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen, Maverick encounters Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), call sign: “Rooster,” the son of Maverick’s late friend and Radar Intercept Officer Lt. Nick Bradshaw, aka “Goose.”
    Facing an uncertain future and confronting the ghosts of his past, Maverick is drawn into a confrontation with his own deepest fears, culminating in a mission that demands the ultimate sacrifice from those who will be chosen to fly it.

    My son flew many of the scenes with Rooster, Mav, Coyote, and Hangman. He had a lot of fun and said the flying was very intense. I now know what is CGI and what is real after talking with him. He does appear in the credits. Great movie, great acting and incredible flying by the best pilots in the world.

      Well.....only an idiot would make an enemy of Tom Cruise, one of the top 10 most powerful/influential figures in Hollywood. He's also one of the wealthiest while being part of an organization/religion known to aggressively go after people who speak ill of it, or its important members (of which Tom is likely the most important of all). On a positive note, if you're in a Tom Cruise movie, your exposure just went up. I also suspect that most of those involved make good bank. From a learning perspective, it's always good when you get exposed to excellence. While I can't stand Tom's religion, I think he's one of the most talented actors in our lifetime and he frequently works with others of similar acting skill.

    Having seen the movie I have to say I have never enjoyed a film so much. The dialogue and casting are both as near perfection as it's possible to get. Jon thinks being a carrier captain is hard try filling in the shoes of the guy he's playing in this movie. He's not just playing some CO of a Naval Squadron those 3 stars he's wearing says that he is the guy responsible for anything that flies. The Chief of Naval Air Operations. I actually have the coin from the COMNAVAIRFOR back when I was flying the Hornet, it's one of 2 I got from someone that senior in rank and one of my most prized possessions.

    • @garycleveland6410
      @garycleveland6410 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Excellent point. A Vice Admiral has a lot of responsibility. He's the guy that is typically being looked at to take a major Naval command at some point in the future once they get tapped for that 4th star.

    • @CDRhammond
      @CDRhammond ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@garycleveland6410 at that rank they would be in charge of entire area's not just one command which is just a military term for a base or ship. Something like the Naval base in Norfolk is considered as a large command for example. The 3 star I knew personally was in charge of the entire middle east area as far as Naval personnel went.
      The 3 star portrayed in the TOPGUN movie as I mentioned is in charge of anything Navy that takes to the air no matter what it's location may be in the world. Every squadron no matter what they fly falls under his office. one reason why a Vice Admiral is paid $16,445 starting off a month according to the 2022 pay chart

    • @garycleveland6410
      @garycleveland6410 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CDRhammond I understand that. I was in the Air Force and 3 stars there had considerable pull. I know that Cyclone was responsible for a whole hell of a lot more than just that base. Air Boss pretty much means ALL Air assets.

    I have experienced moderate "G's," and I have no interest in doing so again. Seriously, when those G's are orientated such that it's hard to breathe because it feels like there is an elephant on your chest, that was not a pleasant experience. So, I have profound respect for these actors. On the other hand, it's Top Gun, one of the biggest grossing movies of the 80's that also became a cult favorite, becoming part of American culture. Its also Tom Cruise who, despite arguably taking risks in his career, has rarely been involved in a bad movie. Finally, it's a Tom Cruise movie so the budget is going to be big, allowing good people to be hired top to bottom throughout the production. Thus, I doubt anyone said anything but an immediate "yes."
