I'm a newbie at lawn care and I have learned alot by watching your channel and enjoy the before and after results of your tutorials. I will be trying this product soon. I live in upstate New York and have cool weather grass. Love your channel ❤
Nothing more satisfying than a drone shot to show how strong the lawn game really is! Love Milorganite because it works! Nuff said haha. No burning, all organic, amazing results.
I,m new to even caring about my lawn.. And milo is fool proof for me...I followed scotts 4 step last year and added milo along with it this spring and while not worthy of showing i,ve seen a HUGE improvement !!
The green up and growth with Milorganite aren't as dramatic or immediate as with a synthetic fertilizer but I've never burnt my lawn either, no matter how much I put down. So it's very forgiving for those of you who are hesitant and does work very well over time. I can clearly see the difference between my lawn and the neighbor's
Was just about to comment on that. Looks like he's using a drop spreader but thinks he has a rotary spreader. Based on the perimeter square in the left side of his front lawn, I'd say the dark green was the intended effect. Maybe milorganite , but I'm guessing Ironite because its so dramatic
I just put Milorganite down last week. And I did so because I remembered what you said about the green up with no burning. I also put down Lime at the same time. Also, I have kept it watered daily. It is getting darker already!
In August here in Oklahoma, my spreader full of Milo hit a rut and I dumped a huge amount on my Bermuda grass in one spot. I tried to pick up all I could but still left a huge amount behind. That spot stayed green throughout the winter. When I scalped the yard in April I saw a lot of unused Milo pellets still there. Now late May, it’s still the lushest spot in my yard. I use a 50# manual reel mower and I still have to make a strong run at it to get the mower through it. I’m sold on Milo for life. I’ve showed it to my few DIY neighbors and they’re now sold on it, too. (btw, for any readers in central Ok, one of the few places I’ve found with early season fertilizer in roughly a 4-1-2 ratio is a custom blend sold at TLC garden center, and it’s very reasonably priced).
I just used it for the first time! I just found you and the Lawn Care Nut and am hoping to turn my lawn around! I’ll let you know how it works here in Idaho!
You're getting really good at editing Ryan. That was a really good tutorial, and demonstration! I also like using Miloganite because, it's organic, and I have pets. Not to mention all of the good things it does for turf grasses.
I put some Milorganite down about 2 months ago and to my surprise about a month later I was pulling up a couple weeds and I could not believe I seen all the Milorganite pellets still on the ground.. I believe it was too cold and they never broke down.. So you're a hundred percent correct it needs Heat
Like u delving into Northern grasses, and soil. Probably most overlooked two things in most fertilizer reviews. I like Milorganite because it is slow release, non-burning, contains small iron amount for greenup (if it contained a lot more Iron, I would not need to buy Ironite and Milorganite I would use exclusively.) Mostly like it because it is natural, good for the environment and cheap vs. big brand fertilizers, which i use occassionally.
You happen to know what setting I should put on my drop spreader for 1,000 square feet? In the back it only has different settings for different broadcast spreaders but not drop spreader
I put down three bags in April for a kickstart, -Just over 10,200 sq. ft.- and we've had rain every weekend (and as I write this). I held off mowing yesterday afternoon so as to not disrupt a neighbors cookout, and now I'm kicking myself. I didn't think it would grow so fast.
The lawn is looking good and it looks like your new shed is coming along pretty well too. One of the things I like about Milorganite is it fairly cheap I get it here in Alabama for 12.95 a bag which makes it very affordable.
I definitely agree on the early fertilization. I put milorganite down mid March and ringer down mid april. I have mowed twice in 3 days and I was still mowing over the 1/3 rule. Its is impossible to keep up with if you don't have free time all day every day. Luckily, things have started to slow a tad and I can now every 4-5 days.
In that shot at 2:04 how long ago was that taken? Looks like early spring and your yard is beyond all others by far. except a few houses to the right when looking the way the drone was.
I like milorganite, because a couple days later the lawn starts looking really good. I also really like milorganite because what is said about on the bag like that " it doesn't need to be watered in" is really true👍👍👍👍👍👍
Just spread Milorganite for first time today to replace synthetic fertilizer I have used in the past. One of my dogs couldn't stop smelling and eating the ground. She than vomited piles of grass and pellets. It's supposed to be safe for pets, so I'm not worried. I guess I'll water it in my backyard before letting the dogs out next time...
I live in Florida (Tampa) and have a new St. Augustine lawn. I have put down 1 round of Scott’s Bonus S weed and feed for southern lawns back in November. What would you recommend using moving forward and when would you apply. I’m a newbie to lawn care and not sure what to do. Thanks for the help
Is milorganite better than Scott's? I have excellent results with Scott's and I only need 2 bags. Milorganite I would need 10 bags. Plus Scott's is half the price for my lawn size.
Scotts feeds the grass just fine. The difference really is that you're feeding the grass but not really building up the soil. With milorganite it takes natural activity in the soil to break down the fertilizer and that improves soil quality overall. How much? I really can't say as I'm not a scientist but you're not doing anything wrong with Scotts, it's just different.
I used Scott's for a couple years. It just didn't seem to do as good, for me at least. The lawn didn't green as much and the lawn wasn't as thick. Weeds were also a problem, partially due to lack of lawn thickness Also keep in mind that Scott's is synthetic and if you try to put more down than recommended, you can burn the lawn.
Great video and great aerial shots too. I will try Milorganite on my lawn. I use organic fertilizer from Jonathan Green usually and compost from my compost pile. On the bag they suggest 4 applications, including July 4. What are your thoughts on the July 4 application, so soon after Memorial Day? Thanks.
PUt it on before the summer...and apply really light applications...sling some around during the summer...before thunderstorms....Your lawn will look like a million bucks...
I am going to mix a bag of milo with a 1/3 of a 50 pound bag of 28-0-8 (60% SCU) on my 9,000 sq foot lawn as summer hits. Water it in. Not too strong.....just spoon feed it.
Can you try to reel mow some.of the KBG??? Maybe a small spot by the deck and shed area where you have already been cutting low at certain times?! I dunno. Maybe??
What number do you set your spreader to? Do you follow the recommendation on the bag? I have the Scotts Edgeguard Mini and the bag setting is 11.5 but it feels like it comes out way too fast.
It should be coming out pretty fast because the whole bag only covers 2500 sq ft for the bag rate. Around 11 was where I was at but it will also depend on your walk speed to some degree.
Hi there my friend, I’m new to this and I’d like to use milorganite. Do I have to apply lime before or after the milorganite? Or do I have to apply weed killer first? Please help thanks.
No need for lime or weed killer necessary in conjunction with the milorganite but if you have issues that require those things you can do that separately. You can dig through some of my old stuff to see where to start or follow along this year and I'll be continued to explain the process of lawns as we go through the season.
love your videos! i live in southern texas, our grass here is St Augustine grass, what months do you suggest mi applying this milorganite? im having a problem with my lawn..and when is the best to apply for pest as well..thank you.
Honda Hrr216 - you can find my equipment I use here www.amazon.com/shop/ryanknorrtv There's quite a few reasons I have both but I'll try to make a video on that at some point.
I switched to a product called Revive that I got at Home Depot. It’s an organic product that also has a little bit of iron to help get the grass really dark.
I applied ironite 3 wks ago at the recommended rate for my cool season lawn. Any idea when I can apply milorgranite safely not to turn my lawn grey from too much iron?
Usually iron will only last 2-3 weeks so I'd say you would be fine but yes you do have to think about it just a bit because too much iron will be a grey look as you said.
I love that Milo is safe for my kids and dogs. I also like the convenience of not having to water it in and that I don't have to worry about it since it won't burn the lawn. I do a heavier application in the fall and my lawn always greens up in the spring faster than my neighbor's.
I having been using Scott’s 4 step program for my lawn but thinking about Milorganite. Has anyone else tried Milogranite after using Scott’s products? Any help on your experience would be appreciated.
We bought a house last winter here in Idaho and I am not sure if previous owner applied any fertilizer late fall. it is now April and my grass looks very dry compare to others in my neighborhood. I really don't want to wait until memorial day to apply the Milo as the grass is currently looking really bad after the winter. Can I apply Milo beginning of April to hopefully give it some green color? If not, is there any other product I can use to give it a boost before using Milo in May?
I've worked to get my grass thick enough that I really only have a few issues with clover. Otherwise the rest of the weeds are crowded out because of the thickness of the grass. Years ago I just used simple weed b gone otherwise for small areas.
Ryan, I planted new grass seed ten days ago. I overseeded a patchy lawn that was lush in some places, sparse in others. i put down topsoil on the sparse spots before seeding. I'm seeing it come up - in some spots better than others. In places where it was already lush, you can imagine the grass is getting high after ten days of not mowing. Question: how long should I wait to mow? Also, should I put down Milorganite after it starts filling in, and if so, when? Thanks, and your videos are a huge help to me.
I always try to wait as long as possible to mow but sometimes it's hard when the existing grass gets really tall. You can kind of test it by lightly pulling on some of the new grass and see if it is rooting into the ground. Sometimes you'll be surprised that it can be pretty small but still pretty rooted into the ground and you can mow very carefully and not hurt anything. You can put down milorganite at any time.
Quick question. My lawn is in need a desperate de thatching and aerating. I haven’t had time to do it early in the spring and won’t be about to do it in early June. Would you recommend I put down my second dosage of pre emergent or over seed or can I do both?
That don't look like no Garden Shack it looks more like an new addition to your home.. Hahaha that's huge.. also cracks me up that you guys in the East don't have any backyard fences.
hi Ryan, question, I was following what I read on fertilizer bags and also what I hear some youtube experts say as far the times to fertilize, memorial day, 4th of July, Labor Day and thanks giving, I fertilized a day after the fourth (with the expert gardener brand) and I do believe I'm seeing spots of burnouts, i've seen a video that says not to fertilize when the weather is hot (seen it too late and after the fact). question is, do I have to live with these spots for the entire season? I feel if I had used milorganite it might not have burned, I'm in NY, shall I skip this 4th of July fertilizing next year? (cause of the heat stress at that time) appreciate any advice....
It may have burned the lawn if it was too hot and there was sufficient irrigation on it. When we suggest to fertilize in a hotter part of the year it is safest to do that with an organic fertilizer like Milorganite. Traditional fertilizer have salts in them and if it is not watered in properly, it can burn the grass. I often skip 4th of July but it just depends on weather.
What setting do you have your spreader at for the Milo? I have the same one and can never get it right. Always have to go with a second pass to run it out.
I am usually around 11-12 but if you're not running it out for the area you should be covering, probably walking a little too fast. The problem with spreader settings is that it's also a lot about walk speed.
If my turf is stressed or going dormant I personally don't put any down at that point, but mine hasn't had much rain since I applied and is actually a little stressed right now and it will still be fine. The stuff breaks down very slowly so if it's not getting the right conditions, it will kind of wait that out.
Great video Ryan! so you skip 4th of July application and wait till Fall? I always thought early Spring, Memorial Day, 4th of July and Fall? also, I remember you were using the Bio Stimulants. I'm using Humic 12 and RGS. will you be re-applying any of those during the summer or will you wait til Fall?
Sometime I put down mid summer but depends on if we are getting any rain or not and how hot it is. I actually haven't used the humic or rgs yet but hope to in the future.
If I understand correctly, the only reason you're putting Milo down is that you didn't feed your lawn back in the early spring? I put down starter fertilizer early spring (per LCN video), does that mean I should lay off the Milo till mid summer?
No right now is fine. The reason I didn't put anything down until now is because of years of proper fall fertilization. That leaves me with enough nitrogren to carry me to this point of the year without needing much else.
Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. It depends on if it's raining or if it's dry and hot. I'm working on writing out my plan so I can do a guide at some point.
The new Milorganite bags now have 6 percent Iron. I lay down 12 pounds per thousand square feet of lawn needs mowing every 4 days GROWS FAST nice green cutting at 3 inch never leave cut grass in lawn want water and Milorganite to get to soil. On west coast 72 every day year round almost only month maybe 78-80 in August. Think best thing can do for a lawn keep weeds out and water it buy ten dollar water meter stick in ground 7 inches can see how dry gets and wet how learn when wants water. I get by watering for a hour one day a week in summer is mix tall short Fescue sod lawn. Many use Bayer Advanced weed control find in stores has Quinclorac, Dicamba 2.4.D for grabgrass control other weeds.
Have a link to one of those water meters? You're one lucky guy with that weather. Our weather is downright terrible here and I don't sugarcoat that. Right around 98 today for a high. It's May!!!
Too bad I didn't stock up and now everyone local is out of stock and they're not re-stocking for the season. People online are selling it for $50 a bag now... considering I need 8 bags an application and I have 2 more applications left, that's not happening. I can't imagine spending $800 on milorganite for 16 bags when it normally only costs me $170. I had to only put down 3 bags on memorial day because that's all I was able to scrounge and get.
I think your process is spot on, I've used Milo for twelve years now and my lawn gets better every year
Great to hear!

Aron White88 Looks like he burnt his lawn with too much synthetic fert!
I noticed the same thing. I have no clue what happened.
Was just about to comment on that. Looks like he's using a drop spreader but thinks he has a rotary spreader. Based on the perimeter square in the left side of his front lawn, I'd say the dark green was the intended effect. Maybe milorganite , but I'm guessing Ironite because its so dramatic
I definitely though this was a commercial at the beginning. Spot on filming! Great quality!
I just put Milorganite down last week. And I did so because I remembered what you said about the green up with no burning. I also put down Lime at the same time. Also, I have kept it watered daily. It is getting darker already!

That's a great story to tell! Thanks for sharing.
I love Milorganite. It has always treated my patch well. It’s less expensive than the synthetic and the results over time get better and better.
I've seen good results so I keep at it.
Nice work Bro!
Just ordered a Smells Like Success shirt so I'll be stylin for these milo videos in the future. :)
You are too old to call him bro
I just used it for the first time! I just found you and the Lawn Care Nut and am hoping to turn my lawn around! I’ll let you know how it works here in Idaho!
Awesome! You'll get there. Just taking time. :)
You're getting really good at editing Ryan. That was a really good tutorial, and demonstration! I also like using Miloganite because, it's organic, and I have pets. Not to mention all of the good things it does for turf grasses.
Thanks! Glad you like the stuff as well.

Yep it's very slow and in the colder months it just sits there.
Like u delving into Northern grasses, and soil. Probably most overlooked two things in most fertilizer reviews. Great video Ryan! I always get excited when I see one pop up in my sub box. The lawn is looking great as always! Have a great memorial day!
Thanks! Glad to have you checking out the videos.
You happen to know what setting I should put on my drop spreader for 1,000 square feet? In the back it only has different settings for different broadcast spreaders but not drop spreader

Yep spring can be a tough one for mowing.
Shed project looks to be coming along nicely. Looking great in the yard and shed!
I'll be doing an update video early next week.
Nice cant wait to see it!
Super helpful video, Ryan! Thank you!!! 👍
The lawn is looking good and it looks like your new shed is coming along pretty well too.
One of the things I like about Milorganite is it fairly cheap I get it here in Alabama for 12.95 a bag which makes it very affordable.
For sure! I will be updating on the shed hopefully early next week with a new vid.
Nice job! Just put some down on thur. First time using it.
Very true. I have been mowing every 3 days and that's without anything major for nitrogren at all!
Ryan Knorr Lawn Care oh the price we pay for a nice lawn :D
I gave my Milorganite to my dad this Spring. Now I wish I still had some.
SOP works best for me going into the summer. I use a heavy milorganite feed mid spring.
Just put my 2nd Milo down of the season, it’s great stuff.
I use a secret recipe along with the milo for that getty green. Nome Sayin?
nice work. really nice editing - enjoying your videos
Thanks!
In that shot at 2:04 how long ago was that taken? Looks like early spring and your yard is beyond all others by far. except a few houses to the right when looking the way the drone was.
Really love the aerial views!
Thanks!
I like milorganite, because a couple days later the lawn starts looking really good. I also really like milorganite because what is said about on the bag like that " it doesn't need to be watered in" is really true👍👍👍👍👍👍
You're right, that part is very nice!
Thank you for your help on lawns. I am enjoying the videos. Do you know a location for finding out grass types and what the characteristics are?
Would you make a video doing a comparison of kbg and perennial? It would be cool to see a vivid one listing a lot of pros and cons between the two
I'll see what I can do. Might be more of a fall thing when everything is thriving again but I'll keep that in mind!
3:04. Neighbor above and left of you. Must have used a drop spreader for their fertilizer. 😆 They have the tiger stripes going on.
I noticed something going on there as well!
Curious to know if you take care of the down-slope on the other side of your back fence, or if it’s just looks that good from run-off.
Some dogs can be attracted to it so best to keep them away from it for a few days if possible just to be safe.
Ryan Knorr Lawn Care oh yeah she's obsessed!
Yeah, water that shish in homie.
Looks like your neighbor a few houses down got some milorganite tips from you? Not as nice as your lawn but definitely some good color.
He used a winterizer and you can see that it worked well.
Looks like mother neighbor needs to work on his fert game. Lots of streaking and dark light areas 😄
It's Memorial weekend so is it a good idea to germinate Kentucky blue grass and mix with Milo to over seed my lawn
Bluegrass should be planted late summer
if i have a weedy lawn that i overseeded a few weeks ago, should i apply fertilizer like milorgonite or weed&feed? i’m in georgia.
I would probably do milorganite and spray weeds instead of weed and feed
Ryan, where did you get your Briggs and Stratton hat?
Weeds were also a problem, partially due to lack of lawn thickness
Also keep in mind that Scott's is synthetic and if you try to put more down than recommended, you can burn the lawn.
Great info as always, Ryan. I appreciate your knowledge, and that you share it with us. Happy Memorial Day, my friend.
Same to you!
Thanks.
What product would you recommend for crabgrass and weeds in the spring? I use MILO about 4x a year.
I dunno. Maybe??
Maybe this fall as I lower the grass anyway I'll try out a spot.
what setting do you put your scotts edge guard spreader on?
What number do you set your spreader to? Do you follow the recommendation on the bag? I have the Scotts Edgeguard Mini and the bag setting is 11.5 but it feels like it comes out way too fast.
It should be coming out pretty fast because the whole bag only covers 2500 sq ft for the bag rate. Around 11 was where I was at but it will also depend on your walk speed to some degree.

At what setting do you place your Scott’s Mimi broadcast spreader at for your milo applications?
Around 11.5
Great lawn!
What kind of Honda mower is that ? Why have the timsmaster and the honda ? You should do a mower video.
Honda Hrr216 - you can find my equipment I use here www.amazon.com/shop/ryanknorrtv
There's quite a few reasons I have both but I'll try to make a video on that at some point.
What number you use, on the fertilizer spreader ?
I live in the northeast. How late can I apply this product. Thank u
Late in the fall.
Can't seem to find milo in stores anymore....
Ryan.....great content!!! Question....any advice on why I miss blades even with a new blade??? Honda mower...same as yours.....thanks!
You mean blades of grass get missed?
yes.....newer blades on mower....st augustine grass
Hmm that seems a bit weird. It will miss from time to time but shouldn't be too bad.
Give us a walk around video of the new shed
Coming up early next week. :)
How often should I fertilize my lawn with milorganite?
Can i put milo down after a recent seeding in a few spots? Also if rain is in forecast is it better to put down before or after?
Yep you can. Doesn't really matter. Water activates things just slightly faster but it's not completely necessary .
I just put down some lawn fertilizer 2 days ago and now I am seeing burnt spots on my lawn I don’t understand why ?
I love that Milo is safe for my kids and dogs. I also like the convenience of not having to water it in and that I don't have to worry about it since it won't burn the lawn. I do a heavier application in the fall and my lawn always greens up in the spring faster than my neighbor's.
The ease of use factor is a great one for sure!
Hey Ryan I seen on another Chanel that Epsom salt was mixed in with the Milorganite was wondering your thoughts on this is there any benefits
Epsom salt is magnesium sulphate. So it provides magnesium and sulfur, both are useful for plant health.
Not sure on that one. I haven't tried it.
All I know is you don't want to over do it with the Epson salt!!
I having been using Scott’s 4 step program for my lawn but thinking about Milorganite. Has anyone else tried Milogranite after using Scott’s products? Any help on your experience would be appreciated.
What fert do you throw down in the fall?
Multiple things but usually pretty heavy on synthetic. I'll be making those vids this fall as well so you can see what I'm doing.
You need some heat to get milorganite going so I'd go with a more traditional synthetic fertilizer.
@@ryanknorrlawncare Thank you, your videos are interesting to watch.
When was the last time you put your ,ilorganite
What do you use for weeds or does the milorganite handle that as well
I've worked to get my grass thick enough that I really only have a few issues with clover. Otherwise the rest of the weeds are crowded out because of the thickness of the grass. Years ago I just used simple weed b gone otherwise for small areas.
Any thoughts on the new(er) N-ext soil amendment products?
I hope to try them at some point. Probably next season or later this year.
I used a Scotts weed n feed on my lawn about a month ago. Can i put down some milo yet or is it too soon?
That will be fine.
Ryan Knorr Lawn Care you always reply so quick. Thanks!
I applied it memorial day weekend here in PA. It did absolutely nothing for my lawn.
Should I water after applying milo.
Can u apply milorganite now in June? I just added a 2nd application this year of Lime and I already put a weed and feed fertilizer in June
Not really needed yet if you already put down other fertilizer...I'd probably wait 4 weeks or so
Ryan, I planted new grass seed ten days ago.
I probably wouldn't seed at this point because it's too late in the season (if you have cool season grass that is)
Thanks for the response. I will just do the pre emergent.
That don't look like no Garden Shack it looks more like an new addition to your home.. Hahaha that's huge.. also cracks me up that you guys in the East don't have any backyard fences.
It probably would have worked to just add on to the house...haha
How often can you put this down??
hi Ryan, question, I was following what I read on fertilizer bags and also what I hear some youtube experts say as far the times to fertilize, memorial day, 4th of July, Labor Day and thanks giving, I fertilized a day after the fourth (with the expert gardener brand) and I do believe I'm seeing spots of burnouts, i've seen a video that says not to fertilize when the weather is hot (seen it too late and after the fact). question is, do I have to live with these spots for the entire season? I feel if I had used milorganite it might not have burned, I'm in NY, shall I skip this 4th of July fertilizing next year? (cause of the heat stress at that time) appreciate any advice....
It may have burned the lawn if it was too hot and there was sufficient irrigation on it. When we suggest to fertilize in a hotter part of the year it is safest to do that with an organic fertilizer like Milorganite. Traditional fertilizer have salts in them and if it is not watered in properly, it can burn the grass. I often skip 4th of July but it just depends on weather.
Ryan Knorr Lawn Care thank you, I will definitely consider this the next 4th
What setting do you have your spreader at for the Milo? I have the same one and can never get it right. Always have to go with a second pass to run it out.
I am usually around 11-12 but if you're not running it out for the area you should be covering, probably walking a little too fast. The problem with spreader settings is that it's also a lot about walk speed.
Ryan Knorr Lawn Care thx! I’ll give that a whirl, been down @ 9ish.
Home Depot and Wal-Mart all out of in-store and online purchases of Milorganite. Any idea what’s going on?
The word is out.
Hey Ryan, love your videos and lawn. Can you use milo if you are already 2 steps into the Scotts 4 step program?
Yep!
Great thanks. I’m in the Chicago burbs so similar climate to yours. Keep up the great videos, I’ve gotten a lot of tips from them!
Will it help my marathon 1 (tall fescue) lawn?
Yes
Ryan Knorr Lawn Care perfect I'll apply some thank you!
Ryan, I added my scots weed and feed on memorial day. I added milorganite today June 2nd. That's good right? I'll add a second application labor day
Should be fine. It will take the milorganite a little while to break down naturally.
Is using milorganite in the month of June the 12th to be exact to far into the summer?
No because summer doesn't start until June 21st.
I like Milorganite for the smell.
I actually stopped using it at my church because of the putrid smell it gave off the next morning for everyone attending.
Great stuff. It’s been unseasonably hot and dry here in KC. Does the turf respond alright to Milo in those conditions?
If my turf is stressed or going dormant I personally don't put any down at that point, but mine hasn't had much rain since I applied and is actually a little stressed right now and it will still be fine. The stuff breaks down very slowly so if it's not getting the right conditions, it will kind of wait that out.
Love it
Great video Ryan! so you skip 4th of July application and wait till Fall? I always thought early Spring, Memorial Day, 4th of July and Fall? also, I remember you were using the Bio Stimulants. I'm using Humic 12 and RGS. will you be re-applying any of those during the summer or will you wait til Fall?
Sometime I put down mid summer but depends on if we are getting any rain or not and how hot it is. I actually haven't used the humic or rgs yet but hope to in the future.
lsturbointeg: I put it down the first of the month, every month.
you're referring to the RGS/Humic right?
If I understand correctly, the only reason you're putting Milo down is that you didn't feed your lawn back in the early spring? I put down starter fertilizer early spring (per LCN video), does that mean I should lay off the Milo till mid summer?
No right now is fine. The reason I didn't put anything down until now is because of years of proper fall fertilization. That leaves me with enough nitrogren to carry me to this point of the year without needing much else.
It is a nice video
Does milor helps in very hot weather?
Yes you just want to make sure the grass doesn't get too dry.
Ryan Knorr Lawn Care thanks
Do you typically put down more Milo around July 4 as well? Have you done a video about your fertilization plan for the entire year?
Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. It depends on if it's raining or if it's dry and hot. I'm working on writing out my plan so I can do a guide at some point.
Sounds good. I’m in SE MI so our lawns are fairly similar.
How many applications of milorganite do you throw down and when per year?
Usually memorial day, sometimes July if it's not to hot and dry, and then labor day. Heavier synthetic apps in the fall.
Hey Ryan - How long before you generally see a darkening/better color from that lime green after the milo app?
I want to try Milorganite but can't find it anywhere, does it usually become scarce in summer?
There has been a short supply this year. Usually it's not a problem to find some.
Why don't you show what you put your spreader on when applying milorganite
