    I love the old pre 1835 US coins that were made on a screw press. 1835 brought the steam press that modernized the US coins.

    I Love the old coins I have over paid for a few Morgans but I purchased them because I Love having them in My collection. But I have a bunch that I made out big time on that I purchased 16 years ago both Gold and Silver coins the price is Way Higher now so My cost average is Profitable. Buy what you enjoy collecting maybe in 100 years you can get your Money back lol

    Grading should mostly be for coins that are really higher end coins in my opinion. Somewhere in the $500 to $1,000 or greater range is where I'd start seriously considering grading or slabbing a coin. I would use flips for anything that is $100 to $500, and I would just keep anything under that price in the raw...probably in a coin tube (not an air-tight) with other examples of the coin. For myself, I have nothing really in flips or slabs. Pretty much everything I have is just in coin tubes, including my '27, '28, '34, and '35 Peace dollars, which are probably each worth between $75 to $250, depending on condition. Since I only handle them on occasion, not necessarily even every year, I just don't see any need to protect them anymore than I do. I do an overall inventory once a year, just to make sure that my every 90 day counting of new additions that I do throughout the year is up to date and accurate. When I do that, I don't necessarily always take the coins out of the tube. I know that there are 20 coins in each tube. However, when I've added a significant amount of coins in an area like Morgans or Peace dollars, I will take the coins out and make sure that they are arranged by date. So I keep all of my '22s together. Then I have all of my '23s together and so on. I do this with all of my coins eventually, but I don't re-arrange all of them annually. Just every 3 or 4 years, I'll pick a coin type or two that I've added a lot to over the past few years, and I'll re-arrange them in appropriate chronological order. I actually haven't done my Merc and Rosie dimes for a long time, so those will be the ones I'll probably focus on this year, and that will take a minute. I have thousands of those, so it'll take awhile. I can remember when my oldest Merc was from 1939, but now I have many many from the first 10 years of its minting. Anyway, Constitutional is also my favorite, which is why it really serves as the foundation of my stack. The inherent collectible value of any old actual US currency that is made of a monetary metal gives you a value above that of the substance itself, and there's non-monetary value in just possessing money with that extra bit of desirability. Literally, my stack is divided into two parts. Bullion or .999 on one side, and 90% or Constitutional on the other side. I'll never stop buying it, as long as I'm able. The only thing I ever regret about stacking is that I didn't know about it and understand it earlier in my life. If I understood at 18 or 21 what I understand today at nearly 47, I'd probably already be retired right now with a net worth that would allow me to live comfortably without having to work at a 9 to 5 job of any kind. Gotta say, super glad to see you still picking up Constitutional, and it's awesome to see you moderating a bit on the collecting and slabbing lots of stuff. Like I said, I think it's fine to do for coins of a certain value, and it's really fine to do just for a bit of fun and satisfaction. Its just good to see the growth and change based upon hard learned lessons. That's how all of life is. We do crazy stuff sometimes, we get bit, and we change for the better as a result. I got some stuff for ya the other day at the LCS, but I'll wait until after November to ship it out. Anyway, take care buddy! Keep stacking!

    • @PirateStacker
      @PirateStacker  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Great to see you, love the way you stack man. You must have a heck of a stack with all the systems in place that you run. It all makes sense. I get bored so i tend to over play with my stuff i do have. Much of my air tites are from earlier purchases, so I feel like i might as well just use em'... but i agree, no need to use those for constitutional (morgans & peace dollars included) but those do get pretty valuable, you gotta keep an eye out for some of the more desirable ones. Thanks for sharing man, live and learn...
