Just a simple trick, but loads and loads of theory and practice before it. If you'd like to learn the basics of this kind of training, read some of the books by fx Karen Pryor, and Ken Ramirez.

Captain 345 Sunflower seeds. Either cut at seed up in tiny bits and give them one at a time. Or just hold an entire seed and let the gerbil take a small bite each time. Bits of oatmeal will usually work as well. Fatty seeds or something like that, that they don’t get in their regular diet.
You Need to have two gerbils please Buy another! But don‘t put them tocether at First they Need to get to know each other, so that they don‘t Fight! One gerbil is always sad when he is lonely!
Don't be sorry :) Training is done more easily with a single animal at a time, but I would always recommend not housing them in solitude the rest of the time.

It's a gerbil. Most pet stores have them. Depending on where you are ofcourse. I got this one when it was young, from a friend that breeds them.
