I love how when Luigi hops on the one Koopa and it just *explodes*, the player visibly doubles back to that spot as if to reaffirm that actually happened.
as someone who unfortunately played Mario is Missing as a kid (and kinda liked it, dont judge my 6 year old self) i'd like to mention that when the koopas explode or... do one or two other possible animations, idk, they drop one of the landmark things you need to grab (read: walk over) and return to the info booths how do you know what koopa has a thing? _that's the neat thing, you don't_ tbf, i don't doubt for one second that it was also a "wtf did i just witness" reaction from the player, lol if you already knew all that... oops, sorry ú_ù

To be fair to ninja theory, there's documented evidence that a lot of the most questionable decisions made for that reboot were mandated by Capcom itself.
I think people would be more charitable if ninja theory didnt have a terrible track record with both game quality and weird problematic shit in their games.

At least, that's the only explanation I can think of for how anyone managed to say good things about the story of the game with the sniper rifle abortion. It's really hard to divorce the discussion about the DMC reboot's actual flaws and quality from all the drama involving reviewers and developers, is what I'm getting at.

Worst of all, it's... actually pretty good, somehow? There's a fan-translation out there nowadays, and it's honestly a pretty great experience. If you told someone from the early 2000s that Tingle would get his own spinoffs and they'd both not only be good, but better than the actual Zelda games of the DS/Wii generation (except maybe Spirit Tracks), would ANYONE believe you? I sure wouldn't.

While RPGs are usually slow by nature, there is one way you could do it for Sonic: A fast paced action rpg similar to something like Nier Automata, where the combat is quick and reflex based but with rpg elements still present.
Surprised there wasn’t any mention of some of the Pokemon spin-offs. You’ve got conquest which has you using these cut little creatures for war, rangers which makes you draw so many circles you’ll break either your hand or the screen and go which got gamers walking (that one is probably the most shocking). Also shoutout to metal gear rising revengence which takes you from a stealth action game with so many metaphors that your brain will explode, to a fast pace hacking and slashing game where we get football kicked by a super senator while a crowd cheers in the background. I love this game.

I haven't seen the video yet, but I instantly recognize Stranger from Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath. That is an extremely fun game and the double-barrel crossbow with live ammo was such a cool mechanic

Ninja theory didn't change dante to what they see fit. They just did what capcom told them to do. And the original design made by ninja theory was much closer to the originals until capcom told them to go more broad and "cool".
Sega still owns the characters from Chronicles. It's just that if they are used in any capacity, Penders could sue again since his earlier cases for the game were thrown out. The situation sucks though cause I liked Chronicles (even if I'm aware of the flaws) and wanted a sequel that could have improved upon everything. But not like Sega cared for Sonic stories anyway. #FucKenPenders

I *LOVED* Mario DDR as a kid! My cousins owned it and they used to bring their whole GameCube setup to my grandparents’ house whenever we all visited them from out of state… weirdly, it was technically my first introduction to a lot of the franchise’s characters? I have fond memories of it. 😊
I knew Sonic was gonna be brought up but was fully expecting Sonic and the Black Knight to pop up... Then I remembered Chronicles. Own it myself and had fun despite its flaws, but yeah s**t went south with that game thanks to ol' KP, which sucks cause I liked the story and Shade was my favourite character from that game :'(
The weirdest for me was a MGS game, you know the Stealth based genre where you play a completely vulnerable human character? Yeah no how about a spin-off action MGS game where you play as an Edge lord with a Katana who kicks the asses of 2 Metal Gears, A French spider woman, A warmonger, A Brazilian Samurai, A magnet controlling splitter, and a Senator? (Favourite game of the whole series btw)

I played through Sonic Chronicles so many times as a kid, I unironically liked it. I think I've officially tanked my social standing to forever be labelled "that guy".
I don’t care how many flaws it has, I love Sonic Chronicles. Yes it’s extremely unfinished in places, the soundtrack most of all, but it was my first ever RPG, and it’s honestly kinda fun. The combat does rely on the touch screen a lot, but I actually like the fact that your special moves require physical action, as it gives an extra layer to your decision making and resource management. And the story (despite its legal problems) is actually pretty decent, giving us a traditional Sonic story in the first half and a dimension exploring one in the second, complete with unique alien planets and races. Yes it’s extremely easy, and yes it has a lot of glaring problems, but it definitely isn’t a failed game, and I’d encourage people to give it a chance.

I actually own sonic chronicles, I had a little bit of fun with it. I also own a goosebumps puzzle game, which I think I've softlocked myself in 1 hour after starting it.
The second you brought up Mario I had flashbacks to when my brother played it. Except I think he only played it once because the memories are so fuzzy that the most I remember is the case and the dance pad. I have no clue why my parents bought it for us
The reason Tingle got two spin-off DS games that were Europe and Japan exclusive is because Tingle was widely disliked by the American Zelda fanbase in the mid-2000s. Tingle was actually very well-liked in Japan but basically reviled everywhere else at the time. I genuinely wouldn't be shocked if Twilight Princess was made to cater Zelda's Western fandom, what with Link appearing conventionally cooler and more mature than he'd ever been at that time, the game having a generally darker tone and Tingle not even being mentioned despite having appeared in every 3D Zelda game since Majora's Mask.

I actually own sonic chronicles, I had a little bit of fun with it. I also own a goosebumps puzzle game, which I think I've softlocked myself in 1 hour after starting it.
The second you brought up Mario I had flashbacks to when my brother played it. Except I think he only played it once because the memories are so fuzzy that the most I remember is the case and the dance pad. I have no clue why my parents bought it for us

The reason Tingle got two spin-off DS games that were Europe and Japan exclusive is because Tingle was widely disliked by the American Zelda fanbase in the mid-2000s. Tingle was actually very well-liked in Japan but basically reviled everywhere else at the time. I genuinely wouldn't be shocked if Twilight Princess was made to cater Zelda's Western fandom, what with Link appearing conventionally cooler and more mature than he'd ever been at that time, the game having a generally darker tone and Tingle not even being mentioned despite having appeared in every 3D Zelda game since Majora's Mask.
