a long time ago in i think kindergarten we had a pajama day where we watched polar express and at the hot chocolate scene the assistant teacher came in dressed as the conductor with a trolley of hot cocoa, so this movie holds a very special place in my heart lol
Y'know? It's just dawned on me for how much I run out to the 711 across the street in my pjs now that I'm in college. The only thing stopping every day from being pajama day in elementary school was my parents' commitment to societal norms. Like, there's no dress code in 2nd grade, right? I guess pajamas are a bit more colorful and obvious when you're a kid though.
Despite the dated motion capture, I really love _The Polar Express._ It's got the characters, heart, and magic of the best Christmas movies, and in my mind will always be one of them.
Ok I don't play yu-gi-oh because I am simple minded and it seems too complex, but I LOVE the way you theme the yu-gi-oh cards in the transitions to the video. It's just such a nice little detail and I just wanted you to know that there are those of us that recognize the effort and appreciate it.
If you were simple-minded this comment would be worded poorly. To be fair the game is very intricate though, can't fault those who don't play. I'm a passionate duelist who's been at it for almost a decade and when I try to teach friends it's like a language barrier 😂 definitely not just you
I got into Yugioh in just this last year through Master Duel, having watched the anime a bit as a kid but never really understanding the game. Let me tell you... I kinda love it now but it's also A NIGHTMARE. There's been so many generations of new cards and mechanics all linking in together to the point even more knowledgeable players will see a card sometimes and be like "Wait what the fuck does that even do?"
@@TekTheNinja Yeah, stuff like that is why I really hope Konami decides to import Rush Duels to the west someday. It's much, MUCH more beginner friendly, and has a much lower power ceiling so you can actually enjoy the game.
The Polar Express is a movie I completely forget exists for years on end, until someone on youtube mentions every few holiday seasons and I go, "Oh yeah, I watched that movie years and years ago! In The Theater!" And then I completely forget about it again. Happy Holidays, everybody!
“Just because something is clearly not good doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy it. [I’m a Shadow the Hedgehog apologist!] It’s fine to get a kick out of something even if it objectively kind of stinks - That’s half the fun!” I love that. So many things I feel that way about!
Bumbles: "There are zero Christmas theme games, it was either this or rudolph the red nose reindeer for wii" The Grinch for ps1: It's because i'm green isn't it?!
I really don't know if I should hate this movie or not but ever since it released I have watched it every Christmas Eve and morning because it was my first Christmas movie I ever watched. I also get picked on for liking this movie at school. But in the end I don't care.
Hope every one has a merry time, despite whatever struggles you may be enduring. I recommend a nice cup of hot cocoa if possible, as fancy or as simple you like, the enjoyment comes from the warmth it brings you. Happy holidays, hope everyone has a great time finishing this year and transitioning into the next one! ❤
Happy Holidays! I loved the president names for the kids. William Henry Harrison works so well too, since that's Billy the Lonely Boy in canon. Just perfect.
I think part of the reason that Polar Express is one of the best of these motion capture films is because there about a dozen of them in existence, out of which one looks good. Watch Adventures of Tintin: Secrets of the Unicorn. This is a threat. Or at least watch the nearly 2 hour TH-cam video on why it’s great, in which time you could’ve just watched the movie. What does this have to do with the video you just watched? Little to nothing. But I feel a moral obligation to spread the word about the one motion capture film that doesn’t look like it cast the undead for some reason. So watch the film, again, this is a threat.
I'm going to be honest: The Polar Express movie, to me, is still an absolute delight. I watched it 3 times this past holiday season. (Also, I'm really glad you got the class of the locomotive right, as a train nut, I am incredibly happy to hear someone get that right!) Still not sure if I should give The Polar Express video game a shot though. I've a got a copy of it, so I might just try to play it for kicks and grins. Excellent video.
This is totally surreal. Never thought I’d see the day such a wonky classic from my childhood got this treatment. It’s such an interesting movie with a perfectly weird history for the BMF treatment. I adore this mess of a movie, it was such an unnecessarily big part of my childhood Christmas, and I never even realized there was a game.
I watched the movie Christmas Eve right before midnight and damn it still holds up. Sure the animation is kinda uncanny valley but the cinematography and scenery is absolutely gorgeous! That shot of the steam clearing away from the train when we first see it is downright BADASS
Okay, I want to say something about Polar Express and Christmas in general. Polar Express is a REALLY good Christmas film in my opinion. Now, I'm not gonna say it's a great film overall. But it's a great film to watch on Christmas with the family. Alongside various Christmas Carol films and all that. I loved watching the movie as a child because it was GREAT. Now, what I want to say about Christmas is this. Yes, it may not be the best time of the year for everyone. Yes, everyone being cheerful can be a bit annoying when you're having the worst time of your life. Yes, it can REALLY suck how cold it gets and everyone just saying 'Happy Holidays' and 'Merry Christmas' with so much cheer it can be a pretty annoying. And yes, I can get the negativity around it especially with the advertisements and the constant message of capitalism. I want to say all of that by saying that Christmas is a holiday that can be annoying... but that doesn't mean you can't be nice about the whole thing. Christmas is the time of year, for me at least, that I enjoy greatly. I love spending time with my family even if it can be a bit awkward and while I do like getting gifts... they really aren't the most important thing to me anymore as I've grown older. A warm meal, good family, and a bit of levity in the times of dark is great. I guess the point I'm trying to make is... Christmas, for some people, is that ONE hope spot in the year. The year where for just a moment, we can lower the cynical walls and the hated gazes... and just care for each other. So yes, Christmas can suck... but that doesn't mean you should have it suck for everybody else too. Just say you don't like Christmas politely and leave it at that. In fact, I'd even recommend just indulging people a little and saying happy holidays or just enjoying Christmas Music despite its quality. Maybe it might change your mind... who knows, you might just be able to feel a bit of that Christmas Warmth. But that's just what I think honestly... and uh, for anyone reading this... I kinda wanted to make this short but I guess I kinda went overboard... Happy Holidays to all of you. (Oh and also... that Hot Chocolate Song in Polar Express is a banger to me)
I watched it and I still don't understand the Turbo Christmas but I am going to give you a like anyway because your videos are awesome. Have a happy New Year sir! 🎉
I was about to fight you on what you said about no worthwhile Christmas films coming out within the past two decades by bringing up Klaus but I'm very glad I was patient cause it turns out you have great taste actually!!
In terms of the talk on recent Christmas movies though, specifically in the "last 20 years" criteria, I'd reccomend Arthur Christmas. I think it's pretty good.
Donkey Kong Country 3 has a Christmas mode. I say this as someone whose first video of yours I saw forever established Donkey Kong as your enemy number one. Don't worry, you don't play as Donkey Kong ...!
Ok I'll give violent night the benefit of the doubt, they reinvented Santa to fit in without being super silly like it would've been in bill morey's Christmas Carol
I guess I grew up in an alternate dimension. I had no idea that Polar Express was both a book and an institution. I never heard of it until the movie released, which was long after I graduated high school.
The Polar Express is a movie I can never look on with teary eyes of nostalgia because I had a babysitter that physically and verbally abused me, and the day I first watched it was the same day she force fed me food I didn't want to eat or even ask for.
Now you have to talk about the Monster House game next Halloween because I remember it exists and they talk about doors having no knobs (My only memory of the game).
I think I liked Polar Express a lot when I was a kid, but that might just be my liking of trains. Never touched the licensed game, though, so I guess I never liked the film that much. 5:48 If Bumbles finds five save files sacrilegious, don’t show him Fire Emblem Three Houses. Unless he means specifically for this game, then show him Three Houses anyways.
I have seen this movie so many times and yet I STILL don’t remember a thing from it. I do remember the 3D ride it had at SeaWorld one year. It was kind of cool actually! My sister got whiplash on that thing though. We’re still not entirely sure how.
5:30 well if this was the bottom of the barrel then i look forward to the Dead Rising 4 (the bedrock under the bottom of the barrel) video for this year's christmas
