- Saturday Night with Marcus Miller & Friends was The Smooth Jazz Cruises' wildly popular streaming series that was produced in Fall 2020 to provide our loyal fans with some great music amidst the throes of the pandemic. This special episode, hosted by Marcus Miller and Alonzo Bodden, featured some of our favorite cruise headliners - Jonathan Butler, Keiko Matsui, Kirk Whalum and Peter White - together with the Saturday Night Band of Patrice Rushen, Eric Marienthal, Paul Jackson, Jr., Nate Phillips, Mike Rocha, Alex Bailey and Munyungo Jackson.

That Moonlight Sonata is one of the greatest things I have ever heard. It totally takes me back to my classical beginnings and moves me at the core of my, jazz, rock, and jamming roots. It works on so many levels. Brilliant.

However I have to go on record as saying…I just happen to be in love with PATRICE RUSHEN!!!… and have been since ‘Before The Dawn’ & ‘The Hump’! All of her instrumental JAZZ stuff has always been Phenomenal!
This particular combination of musicians should convene at least TWICE a YEAR! Truly A DREAM BAND! I THOROUGHLY enjoyed EVERYONE!!!!

I saw this concert when it was streamed in 2020. Awesome, exciting, and great concert! Loved every minute! Would love to have a Blu-ray of it, but glad it's on TH-cam to see again.
I love Keiko’s style of playing. Everyone did an amazing music work. I enjoyed every bit of it. Of course my jazz bassist hero Marcus Miller.

Since sadly i was unable to get to the Berks Jazz Festival this weekend in Reading, PA, right now Marcus and Friends including Jonathan Butler and David Sandborn would ne performing. Hoping Jonathan is playing What the World Needs Now. To me I don't undetstand how only 1.5k people have watched this amazing collaboration of musicians. It should be 2.5 million like Westchester Lady. Think I will have a section on my website and post favorite videos..

A soul massage through the ears! A journey through time & space no spacecraft can give, unless it has a great stereo! MARCUS, I LOVE THE COMPOSITION FOR BUNNY!!!! My God, so beautiful and timeless!!!! A beautiful instrumental expression of a wonderful woman's life!!! I've listened to it now about 7 times, each time feeling a different facet! AMAZING Y'ALL!!!! PATRICE, you have me floating on a cloud!!!! The chants are the souls of all the men a woman touches!! A fine example of how an instrumental can put tears in your eyes. Love the reverb!

The classical piece reminds me of James Brown's "This Is A Man's World". The style & feel.
I am glad I came across this video very good to hear instruments playing if this is what they play on Cruises thanks for the upload High applause.
So many people look down on Cruise Ship musicians, cover bands etc. They are great often. And people having a good time, that's just the core essence of music! This group here of course just happens to be on a Cruise Ship - they could be anywhere... Oh - and a bit too much compression on MM's bass... Sorry - couldn't help but say it as a mixer...and because I wanna hear more Marcus..., hehe.

Keiko Matsui is still sweet. I remember when she was in Chicago with Peter White and my first time hearing her I yelled out You Go Girl and she smiled. Kirk we go back to Cody's in Houston. Peter was my smooth jazz guy. He performed one Easter and I sent him a lil duck that quacked, he brought it on stage! So funny. Jonathan B. live at the Metropol in Chicago! And then of course there's Marcus Marcus Marcus! Patrice still giving up those forget-me-nots! Love You Guys from Savoya in Chi!
