16:00 you are only getting 70 kw on a supposed 150 kw charger because it looks like the cable is limited to 200 A and you are charging at 359V. The 150 kw is just for 800 V vehicles. Thats actually a misleading but common charger labelling tactic where its labelled for max theoretical charging power for 800 V vehicles even though more common 400 V class vehicles will only get half the advertised power.
This is the correct answer.. 200A limit, the previous charger also had around 2 tines 90 amp where it limits to 2x 35kW ish. ABC.. Always Be aware of Current limits😂
Low charging power at 16:00 in video is likely due the “150 kW” rated charger only providing 150 kW to 800 V cars. Max amperage is likely the limit for the 400 V Tesla and other 400 V cars using the charger.
I love Thailand, I like traveling all over Thailand, but driving at night is nightmarish. Cars without lights, ghost driver all over the high way. Kids driving pickups, bursting wheels, racing buses etc ... At night this is truly a nightmare.
Great you share this experience. Planning to move to Thailand in a couple of years and wanted to see the charging infrastructure. Good around Bangkok it seems, less good further out. Thanks for sharing!
Nothing wrong with the stalls, they are 200A so get a 800V car then you get 150 kW. When two 400V cars share this they split on around 80kW so 30-40kW on each car is maximum.
When it comes to speeding fines I was doing 103 on a 90 road, was zapped by a mobile radar, pulled over and had to pay a 500 baht fine. You can definitely get a stationary radar fine for doing 115 in a 90 zone as well.
Glad to see this video. My wife and I drive this route many times each year and we were wondering how well a Tesla Model 3 LR would work and the charging infrastructure. Seems like more time is needed for charging upgrades.
When I visit Pattaya it is usually necessary to book a time slot for the PTT chargers as they are often busy. Also during the day it is invarably difficult to see the screen on the chargers or the phone to scan. There is a desperate need to improve the charging network in Thailand. On the positive side the electricity is very cheap compared with the UK.
Bjorn can you refer to the problem that TESLA highland has from september 2024 . It's about APU/Main computer. I think that in Norway there is 2000 teslas that need to change their computer
Hahahhahahha. Serious question after the laugh...driving without shoes : Easy enough in the Tesla? Like that you stayed in the fast lane most of the way there. My wee e-208 loves the right hand lane 😅
DCFC should state max Amps not Power. In Australia Ampol ABB chargers have the same issue 160kW advertised but a 200A limit. Imagine this BS at a petrol station, there would be riots.
Björn, I found out why the disable cruise button sometimes does not responds or responds slowly (in one of your oldest highland reviews). When enabling autopilot in 1-press (practically disabling cruise), the disable is no longer lagging or not responding! Probably a bug that Tesla does not know about
sawadee krap! i am more the 'pak kanaa moo grob' guy. in two days my plane takes off from vienna and my destination is koh tao - as always 555 mmmm, pad krapow + kai dao. but no chili? farang pet, mai?
Tourism organization does not care EVs, but the Thai cultures instead. There is a plan to merge ministry of culture and ministry of tourism and sports (cut the sports part out). I strongly agree with that.
The problem is not 1080p. The camera shoots in 35 Mbps and straight from the camera it's super crisp. It's TH-cam that re-codes and crushes the quality.
Decent enough charging is required for most folks, not many people doing that sort of distance daily. And if each charging stop has great healthy food options, stopping to eat you plugin. The software...yeah that needs fixed 😅
It seems a general problem with most countries at the “beginning” of expanding EV charging… not properly regulated, standards, making sure that they are all set up to work with just card, etc… so frustrating as makes it much harder.
@@bjornnylandno?! On a 2-way road, with just one dashed line in the middle, it so often brakes, usually after the other car already passed for more than a second ago. Just can’t use autopilot or cruise on those roads :(
For the life of me, I just don’t know how you are able to drive without shoes! I would not feel very secure in emergency situations when stepping on the break needs to be so forceful.
I understand the danger of using flip-flops when driving. But driving without shoes? What's the problem there? I always drive without shoes during summer.
@@cristipaun4805 Please google this. The answer given is this: "Yes, it is legal to drive barefoot in US states (and perhaps Europe too). However, driving without shoes can be risky and is generally considered unsafe." But maybe I'm just plain wrong, and only opinions on YT commentary is the only right answer.
Charger scam everywhere. Even Tesla chargers in the Netherlands are not flawless.. Yesterday the chargers at Weert and at Tilburg in the Netherlands only gave 30 kW... With pre-heated battery. Moved to Fastned: 180 kW...
When will Tesla update the UI on the screen and remove the silly animation of the car and surroundings whilst driving on the motorway? My guess it's the same silly person that came up with the stupid idea to remove the stalks preventing the optimization of the screen...
The interior looks rough cheap and unfinished compared to my 569,000 baht ($17k) BYD Dolphin. What does that Tesla cost? $40,000? $60,000? And all the excess money you spend on that overpriced money pit goes to Musk and Donald Trump. The build quality and workmanship of those Teslas compared to the low end BYDs is negligible. Certainly not worth 3 and 4 x as much. And again the political ramifications of supporting Musk and his diamond plated Cash cow EV venture... You would still even evaluate or buy Tesla's? Yo what is wrong with people?

I just drove to Songkhla last weekend and face the same issue. PTT 150kW just deliver 70kW. Shell Recharge is the best as it delivered up to 170kW.

@16:10, it's probably a 150kw charger only when using 800V architecture. It might be limited to 200A.
Is it partly because its an LG battery instead of Panasonic one, the charging curve is bad for LR AWD. ?
shanghai teslas are so well-made!
Im not so annoyed by the missing stalks in my highland, but i do really miss a HUD :(
when i driving EV at Thailand, i only use PEA charger. Never fail on charging.
Maybe the power grid in Thailand is not strong enough for fast charging?

I love how you don't mind comments about your jokes. Just be yourself.
Is it possible to disable the pedestrian speaker sound with the enhanced sexy buttons?
No, it’s not possible with the buttons. But auto-autopilot is epic. Also it can disable overspeed warning. Really really happy with the button
where do you suggest me to rent a Tesla in Norway?
Someone can help?
So LR or SR for mix road trips ? Is the difference in acceleration big between them?
Wouldnt the Model 3 in Thailand also be a chinese car (MIC)? If so, how does the price compare to other chinese cars?
No app was abit of a bummer Bjorn, hopefully Y Juniper will have same suspension refinement as Highland and then i Musk have one !!
Do they still have the strange reserve a charge feature?
Yes

Yes it is
@Björn how much does charging cost in Thailand at the fast chargers?
around 7-8 (0.24 usd) baht per kw/h at home it around 4-5 (0.14 usd) baht per kw/h
Compare to gasoline ev is 60-70% cheaper on consumption(with thai gasoline price)

Bjorn, the red Fanta is the one you see as an offering at Thai spirit houses.
Red Fanta is modern replacement for animal sacrifices/bloods, and also easy to find.
Is this a model 3 LR all wheel drive or the LR rear wheel drive?
LR = AWD
LR RWD = RWD
Hello Bjorn, can you give us the link for rent EV cars in Krungtep, please?

@ in the US, “Chargepoint” most of their speed is around 6 kw, so a non-Tesla EV takes at least a day to charge
How does green Fanta taste like ?
Some said melon cream soda. Some said combines between banana, pineapple and orange.
Its 200a limit so 750v 200a is max 150kw
speed limits are just a suggestion in thailand

Any false braking in this Tesla version?
Plenty of. Edit.: the last sw versions improved this aspect, and it depends on the roads and traffic conditions, but ghost braking is still present.

I guess Tesla China needs to make a lot of cars with right side steering for places like Thailand, Japan etc. Even Hong Kong
Mercedes accelerates slower than tradies pick-up....what the heck, man 😂
Not everyone goes pedal to the metal on green lights, you know
