Consider using the Bible app (by "Youversion"), some versions of the Bible offer audio versions such as NLT. I am not dyslexic, but it's been a huge help for me because I don't really like reading lol.

I feel that. God loves you. I came here wanting to listen to the John's after I guess I could call it realizing just how powerful and holy God really is, and how terrifying it would be to try to be with God... because of our position compared to Him.. but Jesus gave us the only way to be in relationship with God, and then just realizing how Jesus and God and His Spirit are One, it's awe inspiring.. and that He is relational to be in relationship with us and has not only perfect holiness but perfect LOVE for me and you and everyone who will choose Him, it's incredible

Note how in John's first epistle he begins talking about the anti-Christ's and how they deny Christ's Divinity, then he talks about the false-Prophets and how they try to use Christ's Divinity to deliver untrue revelation. This is a perfect parallel for John's Revelation in which he talks about the First Beast, the Anti-Christ, and the Second Beast, the False-Prophet. Seems clear to me that the First Beast is a system that denies Christ, and the second beast is a system that uses Christ to accomplish the will of the First Beast. That's why John warns us against loving the world in his epistle. The Second Beast will fool the very elect (if it were possible) by promoting worldly things with Christian doctrine wrongly applied.
This is quite interesting. I have not seen this parallel before. Thanks for sharing.

The Bible Project is 1 John 1:9 written for christians? would be interesting to hear Bible project understanding.
@@timothykaz Yup. All it means is we must own up to our sin and confess it to God. Remember: Jesus was the final sacrifice for ALL sin. Our sins are forgiven BEFORE we commit them. All God demands is that we take responsibility for that sin and TRY to not repeat it.
ISAIAH 62 - 1 JOHN
“For Zion’s sake I will not hold My peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until her righteousness goes forth as brightness, and her salvation as a lamp that burns.” (Isaiah 62:1)

"John the apostle of love knew the meaning of walking in the light especially one who walked very close to Me. That is the order of things. The closer you walk with Me the greater the light and the more you are required to walk in it. Being so close to Me with hidden darkness in your heart will drive you to insanity as it did Judas. Light and darkness cannot coexist and you will end up denying the truth and doing the thing you dread most - betraying Me. Denying is a form of betrayal which is why I require you to fellowship in the light at a day to day basis. There are many ways in which to fellowship in the light and this can be put into action. Firstly, your heart needs to be honest and real before Me. Practice speaking openly to Me and don’t mask your true feelings. I am not mocked for I see all anyway and if you hide your innermost thoughts you will only end up fooling yourself. If Judas was open to Me, it would have spared him a lot. Secondly, wait for My response. Don’t dump and run. I’m here to help you overcome not condemn you. Then thirdly, apply what I’ve told you by putting My truth into action.
Unless you practice these basic fundamental principles of light, then you have no fellowship with Me. Do not suppress sin and darkness thinking it will be forgotten about. That darkness will eventually come upon you like an armed man. I am light and if you fellowship with Me you will know My peace. Then for your sake I will not rest until your righteousness goes forth as brightness and your salvation as a lamp that burns. The gentiles shall see your righteousness and all the kings your glory because you were faithful."

Thank you Jonathan, as the Bible Project tends to focus a lot on poorly defined love and not so much on obedience. As you stated very clearly, and as John does very clearly, we must obey his commands to love him, not simply exercise whatever our definition of love is.
@@cz7755 which fulfill the original commands. If someone’s definition of love doesn’t comply with the commandments then that person isn’t loving correctly.

It's almost hard to believe that at the formation of the New Testament canon, John's letters almost didn't make it! It was only John's personal knowledge and witness of Jesus that kept these letters in. What a deeply important message written by a loyal disciple! If Jesus is not raised, we are all lost in our sins. But, Jesus is raised, so we have eternal victory and hope. John speaks so much on the importance (and essence) of God and His LOVE. Happy Easter to all.
