Hi Jimbo, I have found your instruction videos super helpful in the lead up to my test this week! I am from Victoria and I am wondering if you need to indicate around parked cars on small residential streets? I have heard that you always indicate when crossing the line but I have also heard indicating in and out around parked cars can lead other road users behind you to think that you are pulling over and they may attempt to overtake. Thanks!
Hi Gabrielle on the NSW test if you have diverge out more than a cars width then you have to do checks and signals out and then back in. It's most prob the same in Vic. Its usually the case in narrow streets. If you only have to diverge slightly then don't worry.
Hi sir ur all videos r so helpful .i am learning alot from them i request u to make a clear video about 45 angel reverse parking n 90 angel as well .thank u
Hi Jimbo, thanks for your videos. They have helped me clarify a lot of scenarios. However, I need a bit of help with a modified T junction on Sandgate road and Tilli Street ( Newcastle area, NSW). Could you please have a look if you get a chance? Thank you
Hi, I wanted to ask, how do I supposedly make a safe right turn at a T intersection when parked cars completely block my view of oncoming traffic in both sides? Will it be okay if you could make a video on that?
Hey jimbo can you check out Croydon Main Street in Victoria. Its near our suburbs and I always avoid going there because its a bit confusing for me. So I just take the long way home
Hi, Jimbo! Can you please guide me regarding 'keep clear' road markings. I know you will not stop on this markings when traffic lights are red, but can we stand on it when lights turns green and the cars are not moving fast and maybe I end up standing few seconds on the 'keep clear' markings?
Hi NH generally if you cross into the Keep Clear section and you cannot get to the other side you are out. F15 fail I believe. This includes if the light is green and you only get held up for a couple of seconds and get moving again before it goes red. Only move into it if there is room to get through.
@@thedrivingtestguynsw8424 thanks Jimbo, that's what I think but my examiner failed me for not following road rule, and said I was obstructing the traffic behind and he has to intervene to asked me why I was not moving. When I told him that I can see I can't fit in there so need to wait till there is some space for me to move behind that car in front of me. And he said no move on when signals are green and its fine if u are standing there as the car in front will eventually move soon🤦♀️
if a car that you're supposed to give way to (i.e a car turning left and you turning right at an intersection) lets you proceed and you do so, will you fail?
Yes people have failed because of this. Try and get the other person to go by waving them on. They are probably trying to be nice but they are not doing you any favours. If it gets to the point where the other person just will not go, then tell the examiner they are not clearly not going and that you will have to go. It should be ok then.
Hey jimbo, I’ve got my test next week and I just wanted to know do they make you do like 2 of the main things like 3 point turn, reverse parking etc or do you only do one or could they also make you do all of them. And how many attempts do you get ?
Hi akathadrilla. You will be asked to do 2 manoeuvres. One is always the Kerbstop. The other one is either 3 point turn or Reverse Park. You don't do both 3pt and Reverse Park. You usually only get one attempt but I've heard of occasions when a student has asked for a second go and the examiner has said ok.
Just curious, if I'm at an intersection with stop signs either side, i'm turning right and another car opposite side is turning right also, who gives way?
Hi Sam you can turn in front of each other provided the side stop signs are safe and no one is coming up behind the turning car in front and coming straight through.
Hi Shruuti Unfortunately Silverwater isn't on my radar at the moment. But there are plenty of people who watched my "How to Pass..." series of vids and have passed at Silverwater.

Hi gurnoor i dont worry about the right shoulder check. Just do side to side at the lights. The examiner will only mark the side to side check when you are first at the line.

@@rhyshallit6762 Sorry to hear about your F1 fail at the stop sign Rhys. My thoughts are that if you can visually see the line under your mirror then you have gone too far. What I teach is to approach the line, when it visually disappears below your line of sight over your bonnet, just roll a little bit more and stop. That usually works. Just roll a bit after the line disappears.
Hi Jimbo, yesterday had my test and I failed. The reason was doing shoulder check with the indicator and also the person told that it was that I turned wheels before I turned my head.....Surprisingly, he didn’t so for manoeuvre s no kerb side, no three-point turn, no reverse parallel...When we were coming back to the test centre I was pretty sure that I will pass as I did all right things but then got this jolt..... Could you do a vid on the score sheets and also on changing line and turning with good timing on indicator and shoulder check? Thanks a tonne for all your help...I am going to watch the vids again before I take my test.
Hi Shivangi sorry to hear you didn't qualify yesterday. Sound like you got F19 in relation to headchecks. I have covered this in this vid. th-cam.com/video/N4TlGUAZCb4/w-d-xo.html . You basically need to signal sufficiently and do head checks before you do your turn or diverge.
@@Ayokapur The reason you didn't do any Manoeuvres is because you had already got the fail item before them. Because of Covid once you fail they bring you straight back to the test centre. The F1 is disobeying a traffic sign or signal. Did the examiner say what that was ?
Hi Drei the examiner only marks when you are first at the line. However red light runners can come through anytime so from the safe driving aspect it's good to check each time.
Hey Is Listening to music on the Radio whilst I drive on my Practical Driving Test is that Allowed? And Can I also listen to the Radio whilst driving on my L's as to calm the nerves
Hi Luci re music on the driving test. I think it is a case of asking the examiner and if they are ok with it. Re Ls yes you can have the radio on. Make sure the source of your music is not your phone.
Hi Xeon yes it's these non standard intersections that often cause fail items purely because they haven't been experienced during the log book hours at home and the student doesn't know what to do when it comes up on a test. Thanks for watching and glad I can help you.
Hi Jimbo, thanks for your great lesson once again. I want to ask, it's not related to modified T intersection, what should we do if we on the intersection with Stop sign in each direction like in this location (65 Yangoora Rd 65 Yangoora Rd, Belmore NSW 2192, Australia maps.app.goo.gl/tgysLcch5xvXGWjn6)? Which one should go first if on the same time there are four cars heading to that intersection. Thanks
Hi Yuwana that intersection is really sucky. Its not quite a cross street but two tightly packed T intersections. I'll have to spend a bit more time looking at it but the only thing that would work here is what happens in the US, whoever got there first goes first.
The end of my street is a modified T (my street would be where car C is) and it does my head in that no one indicates to go into my street.. you're crossing a line/entering a new street 🤦🏼♀️

Just roll a bit after the line disappears.
@@thedrivingtestguynsw8424 thank you for the advice and I was also wondering if you do lessons and if so do you work around Dundas, thanks
@@rhyshallit6762 Hi Rhys unfortunately just the Macarthur area (Campbelltown and Narellan). Feel free to post any questions here.
@@thedrivingtestguynsw8424 ...F1, H,S and HSH....in his notes...which i dont understand...is it ok if the examiner doesn't ask for manoveurs....?
@@Ayokapur The reason you didn't do any Manoeuvres is because you had already got the fail item before them. Because of Covid once you fail they bring you straight back to the test centre. The F1 is disobeying a traffic sign or signal. Did the examiner say what that was ?
do you still need to do headchecks even if you're not first at the traffic lights?
Hi Drei the examiner only marks when you are first at the line. However red light runners can come through anytime so from the safe driving aspect it's good to check each time.
Hey Is Listening to music on the Radio whilst I drive on my Practical Driving Test is that Allowed? And Can I also listen to the Radio whilst driving on my L's as to calm the nerves
Hi Luci re music on the driving test. I think it is a case of asking the examiner and if they are ok with it. Re Ls yes you can have the radio on. Make sure the source of your music is not your phone.
@@thedrivingtestguynsw8424 Thank you 😎
what do u mean when u say confirm the stop with a bounce?
Hi Tom it's that sensation you get when you actually stop and the suspension bounces down and then up a bit.
@@thedrivingtestguynsw8424 cheers jimbo!
Hazard test please ❤️ thank you
Great🎉
Thanks a million
Awesome video
Hey mate how long does a driving test usually take?
Hi Jaymen at the moment you are in the car with the examiner about 30 to 35 mins.
Thank you.
very helpful thanks so much!
Glad I could help you out :)
Thanks Jimbo it's a very strange intersection
Hi Xeon yes it's these non standard intersections that often cause fail items purely because they haven't been experienced during the log book hours at home and the student doesn't know what to do when it comes up on a test. Thanks for watching and glad I can help you.
@@thedrivingtestguynsw8424 Yeah I have came across one, with a driving instructor. He wasnt even sure if you indicate.
Loves failing by 1%. Videos are great though.
Thats pretty sucky pancakes. Better luck next time :)
Hi Jimbo, thanks for your great lesson once again.
I want to ask, it's not related to modified T intersection, what should we do if we on the intersection with Stop sign in each direction like in this location (65 Yangoora Rd
65 Yangoora Rd, Belmore NSW 2192, Australia
maps.app.goo.gl/tgysLcch5xvXGWjn6)? Which one should go first if on the same time there are four cars heading to that intersection.
Thanks
Hi Yuwana that intersection is really sucky. Its not quite a cross street but two tightly packed T intersections. I'll have to spend a bit more time looking at it but the only thing that would work here is what happens in the US, whoever got there first goes first.
The end of my street is a modified T (my street would be where car C is) and it does my head in that no one indicates to go into my street.. you're crossing a line/entering a new street 🤦🏼♀️
Hi Emma yes it would be good if other drivers would signal at these intersections. It would make it safer for everyone. Thanks for watching 😃
