Cool game. Design your own fighter, customize him (clothes, jewelry and tattoos) and spend your money on increasing your skill points or learning new moves. Obviously for recording purposes I didn't bother with the customization too much but I did make sure to change my character atleast once. Each area in the game has a few fight matches. Pretty much all the opponents are real people (music artists). The final boss being Snoop Dogg. I didn't feel the need to timecode EVERY single fight because some fights are literally only 10-20 seconds. Yes, it's possible to cheap ass some fights and sometimes I did because the game really asks for it. You can pick up glass bottles from the stage and smack your opponent with it but you usually get combo'd in the back while trying to walk towards a bottle. The short fights is what makes it so annoying because the loading screens are sometimes longer than the fight itself. The fighting area's also get repeated a few times so the game isn't super thrilling in that sense, but the game does have it's own story so that counts for something.
EA notwithstanding, the biggest obstacles to this is probably licensing. Ever wonder why you can't listen to Killing in the Name on Radio X in the newer versions of GTA San Andreas anymore? One word: Liscensing.
This came out a year before I graduated, & oh boy was it a classic. Remember saving up for my platinum terror squad chain😏.I miss the Pre microtransaction & lootbox era.

Crow started out as a gang-banger on the West Coast before making his way to New York and hooking up with D-Mob's crew. Formerly D-Mob's advisor, Crow was dismissed from the crew a few years back after the two failed to see eye-to-eye on business strategies. Since then Crow has been biding his time, looking for an opportunity for payback against his old boss. His operations are based out of Club Murder, up in Washington Heights, and he maintains control of all of Harlem.
That same detail applies to other versions of this game too. Too bad you don't actually see the console theyre playing on so the controllers are the only thing you see there and the PS2 and Xbox controllers are a lot darker than the gamecube controllers at the beginning so it's a little hard to distinguish the two.
This was the first game I was able to talk my parents into buying for me. I had the Gamecube version so it holds a special place in my heart but imagine how mad I was finding out years later that the PS2 and Xbox versions had tons more content due to space limitations of the GC lol.
The PS2 and Xbox versions are the best. The gamecube version is missing 8 songs, and also has only 1 voice for the character creator vs 6 in the other versions.
I have so much memories of this game, I remember re-creating Briggs from Def Jam Vendetta, and I also created my favorite actor, the man who has 26 titles in martial arts Michael Jai White
They will never remake this game because of the money it takes to pay the characters also some of these artist not def jam anymore so there’s possible lawsuits. Still a great game. 3 hardest fights was Slick Rick David Banner and Busta Rhymes
This game is really cool. I hope that Electronic Arts can make this game be remastered so that people who use any consoles can be able to play it & that there is NO stuff that people would hafta buy in order to unlock certain content within the game because I don't think PS2 made people buy stuff in order to unlock certain stuff in "Def Jam: Fight For New York".
