He started his career as a director with Aatish: Feel the Fire and is known for his films such as Aatish, Kaante, Kaabil, Shootout at Lokhandwala, Shootout at Wadala, Jazbaa and Zinda. Now, in a candid chat with Pinkvilla on Cult Creator, he talked about his journey of around three decades in the industry, his bond with Sanjay Dutt and Amitabh Bachchan, negative reviews and much more.

Aatish kaante were the best films of sanjay gupta but his lucky actor is only sanjay dutt
Kaante, Musafir, Zinda, Dus Kahaniyan (Rise and Fall, Matrimony & Zahir),Jazbaa and Kaabil are my favourite Sanjay Gupta films as a director and Shootout At Lokhandwala as a producer.
Suniel Shetty looked the most stylish in his films though he deserved a better role in Mumbai Saga!

Sanjay dutt was more stylish in early 90s late 80s than anybody
I guess even Gubbare (in Dus Kahaniyan) was directed by Gupta.
I like his style of direction. He is different especially the starting scene of Aatish
Being one of Sanjay sir’s loyal fan n watched all his movies n always waiting for his upcoming projects so disappointed with his SRK reference. Come on sir the guy is last superstar of Bollywood, when he entered the Bollywood he owned everything n till day the guy is so relevant even though he doesn’t have any releases in four years n please forget the Raees vs Kaabil clash

We need to see Sanju baba and Sanjay Gupta together it would be a sure blast and a real comeback for both of them after long time
Is bande ne sanjay dutt ke killer looks diye hain.. Whether it's kaante, musafir Or zinda! Zinda is one of the best John abraham movie too! Also music in his films is top notch!

Dharmendra had given seven hits in a single year 1987, jitendra ,Mithun , Sanju Jackie were sailing in the same pond...the whole 80s almost every hero was out there to avenge something..
The cinema was going stale..
And two films which broke the ice ..were Qayamat se Qayamat tak and meine pyar kiya...
