Nalle bhai Raju is first an editor then a director, every other movie where VVC n Hirani worked all have been edited by Hirani only n noone is allowed to interefere in his editing. Just coz this time Hirani n Abhijat wrote a script on a serious issue with less entertainment unline Hirani's typical movies, u can't doubt his filmmaking. Hirani himself already said that the story was not that kind where he would have loved to put all fun n entertainment which he typically does but not in this movie which is about journey n he wanted to focus more on that even though he knew it won't be his type of movie. Don't hype 12fail all for director only as it's not a fictional story where someone had to write it down all by own, it's a real story so it's more easy to make a movie when the real story is itself so beautiful, u better go n see his other movies u will know most of VVC's movies as a director is not that good, this movie is all about the real guys n TBH if Hirani n Abhijat wrote the screenplay n Hirani directed it believe it even though it's already a masterpiece, but their style of writing would have made it the biggest blockbuster in terms of box office too.

Shikara was indeed a good film, a well made film, but it failed to do justice to their tragedy, that the community expected, their story which was hushed up for 30 years. For them it was a watered down and mellower version of their story, which many saw as a betrayal.
