It's a mix of Korean and English (more Korean) and I don't think there are sub-titles. Candidly it's irrelevant. Just listen to the song. Minimum instruments. Little if any background vocals. It's just raw and there. Some people take it to the rafters. With SoHyang lets just say she's visited the gates of heaven vocally so many times when she finally comes home St. Peter will have a bill in hand for back rent.

I can definitely say your reaction seems so pure and innocent to me. Seen many vocal coaches reaction with technical words and jargons which is OK but your reaction is the most impeccable that any words can replace. Also I personally feel when you say "shit" , you must have hold your missing your loving mother for many years not to recall. Sohyang just unlocks your emotion to your loving mother. I think equally as good as her singing abilities are, is how she performs this with so much emotion through her whole body. A masterclass in singing , arrangement , stage presence, camera work, audience reactions, and overall scenery. Plus, the background singers and musicians really add to the texture of it all.

I believe Sohyang touches something inside us and she is indeed singing for each person. We each have a different place in us and it feels like God uses her as a conduit to our hearts. In your case your mother's memories came rushing back, for each of us it is different.

He was a very famous man in Korea who taught Koreans good music around the world. He is like a Korean reaction TH-camr pioneer. He was born in 1946. He is a person who greatly contributed to the development of the Korean music industry. Because of such him, K-pop has made a lot of progress now. From a long time ago, he often introduced "Bridge over troubled water" to Koreans. He was greatly moved by Sohyang's performance, but died two months after Sohyang's performance. It was the last moment Koreans could see him on the TV.
This is the performance that introduced me to Sohyang. And I couldn't understand what happened to me. An overworked man in his fifties, all of a sudden was overwhelmed by emotions and reduced to a puddle of tears. And the emotional intensity was so strong that I went on repeat for two days watching this over and over. Similar to you, this performance reminded me of my mom who passed away years ago. Now five years later, I still can't help but shed tears with those who make the emotional connection with this performance. As an avid consumer of Sohyang reaction videos, yours here is the ultimate reason to sustain my continuing enthusiasm. Having seen this hundreds of times, I have seen comments on people's amazement at Sohyang's technical perfection or their befuddlement about her inexplicable vocal gift, but the mysterious emotional connection with the listener is what helps me relive my initial experience of discovering Sohyang. Wow this is exactly what happens to me when I hear Sohyang its hard to explain its something I've never experienced before and I'm 67 have played in bands for over 30 years and I have heard and seen all the great ones but Sohyang gets me emotional she hits me straight in the heart so ya put me in the emotional Blob club too!
You're exactly like me. I'm also a workaholic in my mid-50s. When I first met Sohyang (a few months ago thru 'You raise me up'), led by TH-cam's mysterious algorithm, I was shocked and recovered my tears. Since then, I have searched all TH-cam videos, searched the Internet, and tried to get tickets for her performance. I've also bought a new large TV, so I'm watching Sohyang's beautiful appearance more closely. As a person who lives Sohyang-holic all day long, I'm even more affectionate to my wife to prevent jealousy. I'm a little awake now, still I will love Sohyang for the rest of my life.
Don’t worry, Sohyang makes even the toughest of us cry, she even has the ability to have this effect on us English speakers when she sings in Korean. You may have heard this song many times but I bet you’ve never heard it sung like that before. At least you have been introduced to the ‘queen’ where Dimash is regarded as the ‘king’. If you decide to journey further on the Sohyang train, the best advice I can give you is make sure you have that box of Kleenex close by!!! You have so much to learn about this wonderful woman but keeping it brief, this lady is as beautiful on the inside as her voice is on the outside, but be warned, she should come with a government health warning because OH BOY!! she sure is addictive.

SoHyang is world class. "Arirang Alone" is a must-watch and "You Raise Me Up" reduces me to tears every single time I hear it. But before you watch the 7+ minute "Everyone," dig a grave.

She is Korean (now 43) a ccm/gospel singer, devout Christian, cancer survivor, university prof, cartoonist and fantasy novelist. She is not only one of the best female vocalists currently on the planet but a remarkable human being also. She is an independent artist who has turned down recording contracts from the big labels, including from Sony during 2020. She has no social media, and says her goal is to use her voice in order to bring comfort to people going through difficult times. She does all the arrangements of her performances together with her team. Check out her renditions of Arirang Alone, You Raise Me Up (2018) from the same show Immortal Songs 2.

SoHyang has an air of trust in her voice and you let down your guard and sometime the tears fall! Regardless you will feel better afterwards! Often many of us are crying along with you! This Performer put all of Her Heart and Soul into every Performance!
I've watched this video more than 100 times. But every time I watch it, it still gets me. If you'd never watched SoHyang, you've just discovered one of the most gifted performers alive today.
So Hyang gets us every time with every song. And they are _all_ live performances. She must have nerves of steel to be able to do this at this level every time she sings. Actually, in the original video of this that KBS put on TH-cam So Hyang went backstage and collapsed onto a chair or sofa, she was so drained. This was a competition show and So Hyang won it by a landslide! The other guests were really good but So Hyang just came out and gave this Super Star performance and all the competitors were shocked--and overjoyed that they had discovered this incredible singer in the flesh. She was about 37 at the time but looked 25. She still looks 10 to 15 years younger than she is at 43!
@@TheSpeakEasyLounge I wish I was 43, I'd feel so much better, ha, ha! So Hyang doesn't want to be famous. She did secretly until late 2018 when she did eight concerts with David Foster in Japan. But she found herself growing arrogant and recognized that made her miserable. So she has turned down every music corporation contract that has come her way. Sony Music US was the latest back in October 2020. But she is a real celebrity in South Korea and has concerts, TV and church work coming out of her ears. She has big problems with catching pneumonia, however, so she also realizes she couldn't carry out an international music career with all those concerts.
I'm not saying as we get older we don't get more emotional (or more aware that expressing emotions is being. real) -- but give props to Sohyang's heartfelt (not just technically spectacular) performance. Sohyang has what it takes to move us (not just wow our ears).
Your reaction is genuine and the main reason she sings is to bring comfort to others. Your mother was special to you and although tears came the comfort of your mother came through. I watch those who have more knowledge and insight; than me, as to what masterful prowess she brings to her performance break down into awe, tears, goosebumps and lack of words. I watched as a top female singer who critiqued her after she performed tell her “My only criticism is that you didn’t allow us to catch our breath”. So many say how wonderful; which it would be, to hear that voice in person. Those who have say the experience is much different to have her voice hit you directly. Lol as many times as I have watched reactors have to stop the video to collect themselves I can truly understand why some audience members have blank faces as they listen to her perform; dumbfounded & overwhelmed barely touch the emotion I can only guess that they are experiencing.

But after that performance, she thought she failed to control her own emotion and disappointed herself to cry. That was what I heard and I love "Where are you" performance because of her heart grasp emotion.

I can definitely say your reaction seems so pure and innocent to me. Seen many vocal coaches reaction with technical words and jargons which is OK but your reaction is the most impeccable that any words can replace. Also I personally feel when you say "shit" , you must have hold your missing your loving mother for many years not to recall. Sohyang just unlocks your emotion to your loving mother. That I feel through you. So sorry if I am mistaken about it. But th way I feel about your reaction is just second to none. You seem A very good person I guess.

I'll bet your mother was sitting right beside you holding your hand. I lost mine a few years ago and feel her presence around me. Sohyang is a very talented singer! My 1st time hearing her!

I think equally as good as her singing abilities are, is how she performs this with so much emotion through her whole body. A masterclass in singing , arrangement , stage presence, camera work, audience reactions, and overall scenery. Plus, the background singers and musicians really add to the texture of it all.

I believe Sohyang touches something inside us and she is indeed singing for each person. We each have a different place in us and it feels like God uses her as a conduit to our hearts. In your case your mother's memories came rushing back, for each of us it is different.

I promise you, reacting to So Hyang is one of the best investments in time you will ever make. Consider yourself blessed. So Hyang speaks fluent English. Even when she sings in Korean, it is not necessary to understand the lyrics. So Hyang is BRILLIANT at conveying the message/meaning/emotion of the song.

This is the performance that introduced me to Sohyang. And I couldn't understand what happened to me. An overworked man in his fifties, all of a sudden was overwhelmed by emotions and reduced to a puddle of tears. And the emotional intensity was so strong that I went on repeat for two days watching this over and over. Similar to you, this performance reminded me of my mom who passed away years ago. Now five years later, I still can't help but shed tears with those who make the emotional connection with this performance.
As an avid consumer of Sohyang reaction videos, yours here is the ultimate reason to sustain my continuing enthusiasm. Having seen this hundreds of times, I have seen comments on people's amazement at Sohyang's technical perfection or their befuddlement about her inexplicable vocal gift, but the mysterious emotional connection with the listener is what helps me relive my initial experience of discovering Sohyang. I am thankful for your sharing your experience with me.
This is a pristine example of Sohyang's singing and by no means the only brilliant case. There are plenty of phenomenal stages from this amazing artist blessed with a kind soul. Hope to see you again.

Me too. I was a 50 YO man blubbering at her performance of Bridge Over Troubled Water the first time I saw it (and the second and the third). It is amazing.
Wow this is exactly what happens to me when I hear Sohyang its hard to explain its something I've never experienced before and I'm 67 have played in bands for over 30 years and I have heard and seen all the great ones but Sohyang gets me emotional she hits me straight in the heart so ya put me in the emotional Blob club too!

You're exactly like me. I'm also a workaholic in my mid-50s. When I first met Sohyang (a few months ago thru 'You raise me up'), led by TH-cam's mysterious algorithm, I was shocked and recovered my tears. Since then, I have searched all TH-cam videos, searched the Internet, and tried to get tickets for her performance. I've also bought a new large TV, so I'm watching Sohyang's beautiful appearance more closely. As a person who lives Sohyang-holic all day long, I'm even more affectionate to my wife to prevent jealousy. I'm a little awake now, still I will love Sohyang for the rest of my life.

Don’t worry, Sohyang makes even the toughest of us cry, she even has the ability to have this effect on us English speakers when she sings in Korean. You may have heard this song many times but I bet you’ve never heard it sung like that before.
At least you have been introduced to the ‘queen’ where Dimash is regarded as the ‘king’.
If you decide to journey further on the Sohyang train, the best advice I can give you is make sure you have that box of Kleenex close by!!!
You have so much to learn about this wonderful woman but keeping it brief, this lady is as beautiful on the inside as her voice is on the outside, but be warned, she should come with a government health warning because OH BOY!! she sure is addictive.

She is Korean (now 43) a ccm/gospel singer, devout Christian, cancer survivor, university prof, cartoonist and fantasy novelist. She is not only one of the best female vocalists currently on the planet but a remarkable human being also. She is an independent artist who has turned down recording contracts from the big labels, including from Sony during 2020. She has no social media, and says her goal is to use her voice in order to bring comfort to people going through difficult times. She does all the arrangements of her performances together with her team. Check out her renditions of Arirang Alone, You Raise Me Up (2018) from the same show Immortal Songs 2.

So Hyang gets us every time with every song. And they are _all_ live performances. She must have nerves of steel to be able to do this at this level every time she sings. Actually, in the original video of this that KBS put on TH-cam So Hyang went backstage and collapsed onto a chair or sofa, she was so drained. This was a competition show and So Hyang won it by a landslide! The other guests were really good but So Hyang just came out and gave this Super Star performance and all the competitors were shocked--and overjoyed that they had discovered this incredible singer in the flesh.
She was about 37 at the time but looked 25. She still looks 10 to 15 years younger than she is at 43!

So Hyang doesn't want to be famous. She did secretly until late 2018 when she did eight concerts with David Foster in Japan. But she found herself growing arrogant and recognized that made her miserable. So she has turned down every music corporation contract that has come her way. Sony Music US was the latest back in October 2020. But she is a real celebrity in South Korea and has concerts, TV and church work coming out of her ears. She has big problems with catching pneumonia, however, so she also realizes she couldn't carry out an international music career with all those concerts.
I'm not saying as we get older we don't get more emotional (or more aware that expressing emotions is being. real) -- but give props to Sohyang's heartfelt (not just technically spectacular) performance. Sohyang has what it takes to move us (not just wow our ears).

Your reaction is genuine and the main reason she sings is to bring comfort to others. Your mother was special to you and although tears came the comfort of your mother came through. I watch those who have more knowledge and insight; than me, as to what masterful prowess she brings to her performance break down into awe, tears, goosebumps and lack of words. I watched as a top female singer who critiqued her after she performed tell her “My only criticism is that you didn’t allow us to catch our breath”. So many say how wonderful; which it would be, to hear that voice in person. Those who have say the experience is much different to have her voice hit you directly. Lol as many times as I have watched reactors have to stop the video to collect themselves I can truly understand why some audience members have blank faces as they listen to her perform; dumbfounded & overwhelmed barely touch the emotion I can only guess that they are experiencing.

I cry too. Everytime. But I don´t have any memmories from my life connected to this song at all. It´s the performance. There is so much power and emotions. She sings her heart out. So I cry and I love it because it´s somehow very happy crying.
