Yeah. But I don’t think that these brands need to worry much. I’m sure that rose anvils shoes will be successful and worth buying. But there is a reason why these companies don’t go for the highest quality product. I’m sure that rose anvils shoes will most likely cost more than the brands that took the #1 quality or value spot.
Companies do this to each other all the time. You best believe that Chevy is paying someone to drive the shit out of some Fords.

My favorites are probably the Crown Northampton as well - they look minimalist and clean, seems like awesome quality leather and materials, and I like the made to order aspect as well. Seems like the most ideal one! Really enjoyed all of these videos!

So tough. I almost went with the Oliver Cabell’s, but after the Thursday drop I sprang for those. My wife and I own a few pairs of their boots and trust the company implicitly. I love the all white from Thursday! My brother bought the black/white after seeing mine :)

For me the winners are Crown Nothhampton (looks) and Thusday (price to performance as well as leather quality).
The losers would be Common Projects (price to performance), Goral (looks) and Fake CP (for being fake, though surprisingly not terrible for the price).

I had a pair of Common Projects sneakers that I wore heavily for 5 years, including multiple vacations. They held up incredibly well and still have life remaining.
The Crown Northampton shoes are my favorites: quality and I love that style.
I wish they made one that looks just like common project but nicer
I love the design of these fashion sneakers but loathe the lack of wide width options. As someone who wears eee width shoes, most of these are simply a physical impossibility. Great series!
Super late but have you tried Ecco soft 7? They are very wide. I also have very wide feet and they fit perfectly. People with normal feet often go a whole size down.

Thank you for the series! It really helped me figure out which white sneakers I am most interested in, then from there just narrow it down based on what I can access, the price, aesthetic, potential comfort level, durability, and how it would transpose to me and my lifestyle (as a woman). This was by far a better resource than most other reviews I've seen and showed a lot more variety than a lot of women fashion influencers were showing (usually you can narrow it down to about 3 brands).
I ended up getting the Oliver Cabell Low 1 and I love them! They were a bit outside my budget for them (especially after paying duties), but I don't regret it as I am well on my way to getting my full value out of them. The other ones I was interested in (mostly as a result of this series) were not available for sale where I am, difficult to obtain, or out of my price range.

I'm planning on buying the Thursday sneakers. I wear their boots for work and absolutely love them, but if I had the money I would definitely go with the Crown North Hamptons, I just love how smooth they look

Awesome video and the cutting of the leather was sooo satisfying.
I was speaking to a insole rep once (in england) and she told me the reason most Brits have flat or wide feet is because of the draft in ww2. All the men with low arches or flat feet weren't drafted so basically the men left after the war mostly had flat feet.. it sounds logical and could also be a reason the British designs are a bit wider than the italians. I'll refrain from inserting a joke about the Italians and ww2.

Rose, I think you overlooked an awesome Spanish brand called Idrese. I just bought a pair of their white sneakers and they are amazing. They are 230$ with thick full grain chromed leather, thick margom soles, a cork midsole, a shank, metal eyelets and and awede design. Go check them out!

As far as the sneakers go, the Thursday Boot Chrome Excel has my money because of two factors : Styling and thickness of leather. And as long as you're not pitching any of the "My Pillow Guy" crap ( or any subdivision thereof, ) I'll try one of those pillows, since keeping the temperature of a pillow cool is just about my pet peeve. All in all a nice comparison. Subscribed ...

Just went ahead and brought a Thursday Cacao (hightops though) thanks to your two videos. Really excited see a shoe in that price point that is that well built from such high quality materials- hopefully I get plenty of wear out of it.
Your ultimate list in a shoe is great but talking about sneaker, cork... I think won't even last if you are active and running. The super thick insole of one of the shoes in this series--can't remembeer-- will give some bounce too!
Great series! I really enjoyed watching all the breakdowns and I'm looking forward to Moctober! Although not white those Thursday shoes blew me away and I totally have to get a pair. As far as the white sneakers I liked the well-made Goral's and the Crown Northhamptons were super sleek. Keep up the great work!

Thank you for putting together this series! It's been very delightful to watch every one of the videos in the series (my heart skips a beat whenever I saw the shoes being cut in half though). I'm a newbie sneaker lover, so your videos have taught me a lot and introduced me to various brands I'd never heard before. Now, I don't know whether I should be thankful or mad at you about this! hahahaha.
For the overall winner, I'm conflicted between Crown and Thursday (white). Crown's simpler silhouette looks uniquely stunning, but I'm very impressed with Thursday's quality. If I have to choose one, it's perhaps Crown because I totally fall in love with its look!

Getting a pair of Crown of Thursday for my birthday would be amazing since I work as a teacher in China and it's hard to get either of them (very expensive too). Fun series. Stoked to see what you can come up with. If you can make a version with close to the same style/color as the Thursday shoes I might consider buying a pair. As long as they are under that 200 mark, most definitely. But, I doubt a shoe with that quality will make that mark. Might just have to get me a pair of those Thursday shoes instead. I've got the Common Projects in all white and black/ white sole. Was looking at Crown (being from the UK myself) for white/ gum sole - think this has confirmed it!

I’d say the Thursday sneaker has the highest quality.
I like the boot style construction. Big fan of quality work boots, having had to wear them all day every day for a number of years.
That dark colorway on the Thursday does seem like a winner, although as he says in the video, the leather on the white version isn’t quite as good.
(I might pick up that dark color at some point, since I dislike stark white anyhow - I’d get gray Keds or something if I want a “plain” sneaker.)
I own a pair of their white sneakers, and for the money, Thursday can't be beat, but they are not the highest quality by any means. As said in the video, Crown is King when it comes to true quality.
i hope you can make a video with the thursday whites. I think common projects still won: is it overpriced? yes. but as you said, they are the reason why this series exist. every white minimalist sneakers will be compared to the common projects. When you live in canada, these other brands are that much cheaper when you have to pay exchange rate, shipping, and customs. Common projects still have the best silhouette and probably age the best. hdyuan

Hi. Hope you can also do Veja and Golden Goose sneakers because they are all the rage for women’s basic sneakers...with a hefty price tag.
I'm real happy that Common Projects won best looking - through all comparisons, all of the points you made when giving the award kept popping into my head. I know the series was mainly focussed on construction and quality - but common projects are just objectively attractive to look at, and stay that way through daily wear for months, which to me (my own opinion, not a fact) justifies their price point.
Oliver Cabell's look nearly identical however I'd give the slight edge to Common Projects but they're very close looks wise. In terms of quality they are the same. I don't think you can justify Common Projects being nearly 3 x the price!
So crown Northampton wins. This was a really interesting and fun series to watch! For me the Thursday one would win mostly because of the value.

Most stan smith fans know about the multiple tiers of quality versions. Could you do a video comparing them? The premium stans have higher quality leather, a full leather lining, higher quality rubber sole, leather tongue, gold lettering. The basic stans don't compete with these other brands but the premium stans definitely do.
Thursday is the winner.
Currently Own:
Common Projects - Great silhouette and hype (although not a single woman ever complimented me on them), atrocious price, underwhelming presentation, run narrow (size a half size up if you don't want to break them in with your feet). Would NOT buy again.
Beckett Simonon white GATs - Great looking GATs; amazing presentation (waxed laces, beautiful box, and satin dust bags if any of that matters to one); Good price for a clean looking GAT; get compliments on them all the time (people recognize the GAT silhouette as the "casual or non athletic" sneaker; oversized (size a half size down)
Svenssons GATs; very similar to CPs (and apparently made in the same factory); the price is better; sizing is true to size;
Owned:
New Republic White sneakers which were quite bad (but what can you expect for under $100),
Hugo Boss GATs (there's a theme here) which would've been fine if they didn't cost over $100.
Magnanni - Good looking, great feeling, good presentation, can get on sale at the Nordstrom Rack
Honorable Mention
Adidas Samba: best for a budget GAT sneaker. Had them for years and beat them to death and they still did not fall apart.

Honestly after being a boot and shoe enthusiast for a long time, the quality you receive for most of these sneakers just doesn’t measure up. For the price of common projects you can have boots from White’s or Nick’s. I like the Thursday’s as far as quality goes, and can see myself getting a pair sometime, especially one of the three variants that use Horween leathers

Should look into Rancourt & Co., as I'm pretty sure they can make the sneaker that you want. They're known for Blake stitch construction and only use premium materials. They also offer a decent minimalist sneaker themselves plus all their products are made is the US.
Lorenzo Collection sold in EU for 60 euro. Beats them all out for price to construction for lamb leather. Just gotta take a trip for them.

Have you looked into Visvim sneakers and boots? Visvim (a Japanese brand) is known for their impeccable quality in craftsmanship and materials. Footwear often made with veg tanned leathers, natural cork mid soles and no lining. It would be very interesting to know if they live up to their reputation and high price point.
Kinda misleading about Thursdays as only that colour has that quality...

FYI just talked to Thursday and they say all of the leather thickness is should be between 1.2 and 1.4 mm despite the fact that they measured 2.0 mm here. They say that was probably a quality control issue. Weird. Also, essentially the entire line is made in Mexico besides the heritage/white which are made in Portugal. So despite a dizzying array of different leathers for the different colors, they are also not made in the same place to the same quality most likely. There is a mention on Reddit up some massive differences in quality control during COVID and Thursday replied to say that all production has been moved to Portugal but clearly this isn't the case

I think if you added two things no one would be able to touch you: a styling component and actually tried on the sneaker and showed how it looked with several pairs of pants/looks (e.g., jeans, a suit, etc.) and talked more about the shoe's comfort -- as it is a sneaker -- you would be king. You could probably partner with someone to do the styling component. Lastly, what do you think about Clae and Hudson sneakers? Thanks again.

Great video. White shoes tend to be women’s favorite on a man in warmer seasons. Especially when a man is dressed smart casual with white seek sneakers. I did some research and went down to think that Cole Haan is the best. When it comes to casual shoes, It can even beat 300+ shoe brands, such as: Ted Baker, Lagerfeld Paris, Bruno Magli, etc. most of brands use readymade customed outsoles, what does not make a 250-300
Dollar shoe worth of the price. Cole Haan is focuses on refining upper, as well as producing and improving different outsoles.
