  • The boat is sinking and turns out it was one of the toughest calls because the lady bought it sight unseen and doesn't know anything about boats. Matt had to tell her to sell the boat and get it on land as soon as possible before it sank! The lady was crying and very emotional!

Matt really struggled with telling this lady because he knew he was crashing a lot of her dreams! BUT, he had to be honest ... what would you do in this same situation?
She had already had an electrician there that did something we aren't sure what since Matt spend his time getting her bilge pumps working! Like any job they aren't always EASY 😭

@@abcgang8048 exactly that’s why Matt was honest even though it crushed her & him actually! He said when he turned back and heard & saw her on the floor he knew he just needed to keep leaving! She left us a nice mention on Facebook… I added it to one of the responses above. She got his services for free! 👍

A friend recommended your site and so far I think it’s great. I retired a year ago from a life as an electrical contractor and often wondered what I’d do with my time after retirement. A 32’, 1985 Island Gypsy trawler fell into my lap and I spent my first year fixing it up. I’ve learned a lot about everything from restoring teak wood to Ford Lehman Diesel engines but am always looking to learn more. So far I’m seeing you work on high end boats but I’d like to see something closer to home. Aren’t there any older junkers around there asking for help?

We have a video coming up soon where Matt breaks a girls heart cause he has to refuse to work on her engines they were the worst he as seen. You have to remember it can be to much liability for us sometimes.

Used to pin dryer sheets in the vents to cover up smells like that . Don’t think it gets rid of the smell but it definitely helps mask it . Works for old cars and it’s cheap.

Great video as always!! So frustrating when a client can’t grasp the recommendations of us professionals. Lately, I’ve just be flat out refusing to take on jobs because I feel like it would just be stealing money. The quality of so many products, and I don’t even care of the brand names anymore has gone so far downhill that people have such a hard time grasping that something only a few years old, that money would be better spent putting it towards a new one with a warranty.

It’s funny or actually sad how badly someone wants to buy a boat. I call it “I want it blindness”. A friend wanted to upgrade to a bigger boat and thought it was a deal. He told me to have a look at it. I motored over to it and before we were a hundred feet away I could tell it was a goner. The water line was bow down so I could tell there was a lot of water forward and likely been there a while. Since the approach was from the water, we were eye level with the fiberglass decks which were badly buckled and warped from rot and water intrusion. My buddy kept saying he could fix it. I told him that the demolition costs would exceed the price, please listen to me, run, don’t walk. He finally listened.
