I came for the woodworking, but stayed for the concert! Great video. I love how you share all aspects of the progress - including the "mistakes". It helps me realize I'm not the only one that has projects not go as planned, but you cheerfully work through and make it better. Thanks for sharing.

I have a carpenter bee that lives in a bamboo pole right next to my workbench, less than a foot away. He/she is really chill. Only comes out just before lunch time, sometimes does a little sweep over me and the bench to check out whatever project I'm working on, then goes away to do whatever it is that he/she does. I'd hate to get stung, but there really is absolutely no aggression in this one.

  • @jeflarremore7170
    @jeflarremore7170 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Oh look, Brad Angove commented! So, the tone is not going to be affected with a semi-hollow body. Electric guitars are, mmm, 95%-ish controlled by the electronics. Proof of that is people who build guitars out of the most gawd-awful material (colored pencils, recycled plastic, license plates, pallet wood) and they sound great. This build is one that makes me happy and want to cheer you on and sad that I'm not building and finishing guitars any more. I'm pretty sure my ex didn't like me working on guitars even though it was SO fun! I did a re-saw of a body I built. Top was mesquite wood and body was ash. Pickup pockets were pre-cut and the re-saw totally ripped up the thin walls of the cavities. The guy who cut it felt bad, I didn't. In the future, make a blank to put in the cavities before re-sawing. I like your project. Hope it wins! I bet after the brass "ages" it will start to take on a changing patina and look.

Just a few observations that you may want to consider. You didn't show much of the wiring and shielding but here are my suggestions. First: the backs of the cavity covers should also be shielding with the shielding tape. Second: The shielding tape should come onto the lip of the cavity as to be in contact with the tape in the cavity when cover is screwed on. Third: You need to connect each cavity's shielding with the other cavities shielding. Meaning solder a ground wire to the toggle switch cavity shielding and run it to the neck pickup cavity and solder it. Then solder another ground wire to the neck pickup cavity shielding and run it to the bridge pickup cavity and solder. Then run a ground wire from the bridge pickup cavity(soldered, of course) to the electronic cavity and solder it to the shielding. Then, finally, solder a ground wire to the back of the volume pot and solder the other end to the shielding in the electronics cavity. Doing all this will take any hum and send it through the ground and get rid of it.

I am amazed that it is only bees trying to get in on the act when you display so many diverse abilities and such dedication to expanding these powers into skills. Also, you are such a great looking package to house these skill and abilities in, and now I discover such a sweet ear for obscure melodies. After being down with a terrible cold this weekend, this video was like medicine for the soul, and nose! And who knew WD-40 cleans out the rust in my sinuses! Great job as always!

Noticed you struggling with your drill press to change speeds. Get the NOVA Voyager DVR drill press. No belts. Change speeds with the turn of a knob. I've had one for over a year. Awesome machine.

If you're afraid of bees, use a spray bottle with water and spray the water over the bee in the air.
When these fine waterdrops hit the bee, it's thinking it begins to rain and rushes at home...
And the other bees around follow...
Also it didn't makes them aggressiv, what mostly will end with a sting.
Works also great with hornets, bumblebees, more agressive wasp, etc...
BTW: great build and good playing, like the look.

I would be extremely happy if that's all you did was build guitars!! I hit "like" before watching the video!! The guitar is absolutely beautiful...you have a real talent young lady, you should be proud of the way it turned. Keep up the great work, I can't wait to see what you come up with next!!

New to channel but your sponsor sections are very natural and great. I'll admit I had no idea all the WD 40 products until I watched your videos

You've done it again. I really like your guitar shapes and look. Ben Craw should learn from your approach, simplicity, functionality, comfort, and beauty.

It is and has been such a joy to watch you work on the various project over the years. I admire your "fearless" tackling of projects and woodworking skills that are sometimes outside of your comfort zone; a noteworthy character trait. The guitar is gorgeous! Great design. Always looking forward to a new video from you. Which by the way you are a very good videographer. I hope the YouTubing is as enjoyable for you as the woodworking obviously is.

So awesome to hear! The filming is not my favorite and takes me way longer to actually make things. But it’s better than dealing with customers who I would have to build things for as the alternative to turn this hobby into a career... ha!

That came out great, I am a sucker for a matte / satin finish on a guitar. It is a little blingy for my taste but the gold hardware was definitely the right choice.

It's always scaring going out of the comfort zone but you nailed it (again, like last year). You are absolutely right picking golden Bridge, tuners and Pickup covers.
Every other colour would have probably interfered with the brass mesh.

Rock on! I made a bass guitar when I was 16, it was soolo heavy but very satisfying. Liike your use of the brass.

Tamar, you KILLED IT! That guitar looks so dope and your order of operations making it was seriously perfect. If recommend it to people wanting to do a chambered guitar build.
I would've liked a belly carve on it I think, and maybe skip the pickup surrounds but seriously, I think you should win
