I always found it bizarre when hunting alpha males is considered desirable. Wolves are pack animals, led with iron fists. Killing an alpha male generally creates unintended consequences. It's not necessarily the same as chopping the head of a snake. Alpha males keep younger wolves in check, preventing uncontrolled breeding, thus with their departure you can expect more wolves in your area. Additionally, they tend to lead the pack with their experience, which can range from hunting techniques to human avoidance. Leaving the pack with inexperienced younglings causes frantic foraging, which can drive wolves into areas that would conflict with humans (or pets!). Never mind the potential surge in population. I'm not against hunting any animal (not endangered), but I think it's important to understand the nuances behind our actions. If anything, killing a breeder female is probably yield better future results than killing the male. I'd like to hear your thoughts, or maybe some points I've missed.
It certainly holds true with Baboons, you should never kill the dominant male because then the younger males have an orgy with all the females and their numbers grow exponentially, the same logic applies to wolfs too I would imagine so I agree with your logic.

@Mr Hansen yes, I have seen that and perhaps you're forgetting why they reintroduced wolves...because the coyotes were wrecking the rabbit and deer population. They were out of control and the best way to keep the coyotes in check was introducing another predator. The wolves came in, fed on more large game, killed the coyotes (who were overpopulated, since that's what we are discussing) and changed the landscape for the better. You are a classic idiot. There isnt a way to manage wolf populations other than hunting them. Dipshit. Which is what these guys are doing. But keep commenting on how the wolves were here first and it would be cool if a wolf killed one of the hunters. Fucking idiot. Grow up, since I know you're not some stupid teenager. I hunt deer here in northern MN every year and never get the chance to see a real wild wolf, only hear them at night sometimes. That's how smart and elusive they are. One thing i like to point out is that wolves are indeed a native species to Idaho and all of the lower 48, human exterminated them to blink of extinction because of misunderstanding and hatreds. I understand the need to have predator control in heavily populated areas but no need to misinform people that wolves aren't native.

What electric call do you use? Put link on your site so we can get one and you get paid. Do a video on the calling system. You should get a bonus elk tag for getting rid of 3 wolves.
You guys are the reasons why wolf documentaries on TH-cam always end with the commentators saying something along the lines of “the alpha was split away from his pack and shot, everything ended, with just one bullet”
Rumors are true...low IQ has consequences. Let idiots vote their emotions rather than allowing professional wildlife managers manage our wild resources.
What caliber and bullet set up are you using? Great video and hunt. The video is second to the kill. We have to manage these wolves before everything is disrupted.
Seems like every wolf you kill, you say it's the Alpha male... That's a bit odd, seeing as there's 1 Alpha male per pack, and there ranges are spread so far apart there's not really that many packs close together to kill an Alpha male each time... And no way to know if it's the Alpha male anyway, unless you're physically watching the whole pack for days to pick the Alpha male out... Just because it's a big male, doesn't mean it's the Alpha, without watching the pack... I kill mostly male Yotes when out calling fir some reason, but there not all Alpha males... Usually the only way to tell is an Alpha Yote, is when you call in a pack, and the lead male AND female come in and the rest stop... Or in pup rearing times and they all start yipping and howling, and the Alpha male barks, and the whole pack shuts up immediately... And when they come to investigate it'll usually be the Alpha male WITH the Alpha female, and the rest of the pack stays back... So I'd assume in wolves, a good determinator of a true Alpha male, would be the Alpha female would be along with the Alpha male... But anyway ya got a pretty wolf...
The forest service has nothing to do with wildlife management they manage the timber and other natural resources. AZ game and fish manage the wildlife. There are 0 wolves in the Kingman area. There are only 163 Mexican Grey Wolves in AZ /NM/MX 76 are in AZ the others are in NM/MX. The game and fish is studying the fact about N. AZ but for now there are no immediate plans of introducing them. Yes I hate wolves as much as any one else, especially when the wrong species is introduced to an area. I believe we need to control those current wolves through hunting and trapping. The wolves in AZ/NM/MX are the native species much smaller bands were introduced in 1998 and sinc then have not had the massive growth as the ones in ID/MT/WY/UT as they are not the native species, much larger

@Nono K They have decimated the wildlife in our mountains. Wolves aren't native here. They were planted here and the native wildlife are suffering for it. Our local Caribou herd was just declared extinct last year, we did all we could to keep the wolves from them, but wolves reproduce so quickly. Hunting wolves is how we are giving back. Some moose numbers are actually starting to return in areas where we put heavy wolf trapping pressure. Why don't you come out here and see for yourself?

I'm not saying people should not hunt wolves, but naturally, wolves are supposed to keep the elk populations down so they do not overeat willows and meadow grass. When Elk and Deer over eat, it messes up the entire natural foodchain and ruins it for other animals like song birds and beavers.
When you hunt with dogs, you know the risk to your animals. Its not tragic that the wolves killed the dogs other than the owner put the dogs in that situation.
Ya if your hunting pack predators like that you have to have a backup weapon and another person is nice. they are fast like he said and can surround you without you knowing
That is why you don’t hunt wolves. Build a better fence. An if you have 5 dogs that can’t kill just one wolf? Maybe you need bigger dogs or none. (Personally their is a reason why wolves are Apex am we aren’t). A packless wolf is like a shark out of water. Useless. A gunless human is like a Defanged Jaguar. Useless. People with guns hunting wolves cause they can’t build a fence is called “useless human intelligence at its finest”. Our ancestors built fences an had Guard dogs for this reason cause they didn’t have guns.
@@shadowdeslaar actually if you watched the video those dogs were tracking a bear and those wolves slaughtered them maybe you should get your facts right there mr. intelligent.
@@keatonmurray4421 I was ranting about something different. But if you have 5 dogs killed by a pack of wolves….. it’s your fault for not being with your dogs while treeing or tracking a bear. If your dogs aren’t within Hearing. Or sight. You made a mistake. Yes hounds are different from Pyrnees or pit bulls. But for fuck sakes what do you expect to happen? All 5 kill a bear? If they even remotely found a bear their only hope is keep in their. (Hence) treeing. Otherwise a bear of any kind could an can swipe a dogs head off. So what’s the point.
@@shadowdeslaar not a Kingler dog they're way bigger and stronger and they can kill wolves so five of them attacking of bear would be easily subdued because their coats are strong enough to handle tough bites those dogs he had were not even strong enough to kill a wolf so he should upgrade his dog breeds that's all so if something like this happened the tables will be turned

@@HybridRenoII nah, just don’t care. I’d kill the pups too if I had the chance. If animal population is not controlled, they will overpopulate and disrupt the balance of nature. Don’t forget people hunted deer and most wild life to near extinction in this country by oh 1900 or so. According to to some people the only animals that have value are livestock and the only land that worth a thing is flat and covered in grass or crops. The only land that worth anything covered in concrete.

Perhaps this is obvious but you need a recording of hounds when they tree'ed a bear or lion. I guess it brings those wolves in quickly trying to defend their territory. Even if they just made a kill defending their territory is a primal urge.
He said the pack of wolves took the dogs out, not a single wolf. You'd think the hunters would have came in & killed some of the wolves before they killed 5 dogs tho.

I think I would like a semi auto, that doesn't damage the pelts.
But anyway ya got a pretty wolf...

to all Arizona residents ; the wolves are all the way to Kingman now - thanks forest service
@Chris Russell agenda 201
Do you have photo/video of them in kingman? That’s a long way for them to have traveled without also being documented
We had a pile of wolves around last year and the year before but I think and hope we cleaned the pack out that was around my area.
Jim Davis well good work. Your area is no longer wild. You might really enjoy moving to Ohio. It is a very tame and sterile place, all controlled by man. You would love it! Atta boy!

Its all common sense to secure all your animals in a secure area away from wolfs, bears ,
mountain lions, ect... ect .... I've lived in the mountains all my life never had and problems.
So your friend lost his dogs is unfortunate and sad but I hope he has learned his lesson.
Don't blame the wolfs . Build a secure enclosed dog kennel.
Keep up the good work. Eradicate those killers!!
Any good hunter and trapper knows conservation is key to being able to hunt in the future. I dont know if you meant eradicate or population control. All for hunting these beasts but not wipe them out entirely. Its good for herds of elk and deer to have a small population of wolves. It keeps them moving to prevent overgrazing and takes out the sickly, injured, and tick ridden ones. We need people to hunt and trap up here in Alaska badly. The wolf populations are huge. Packs in the high 20's in alot of places.
Just use a hound bark. They'll come running.
Absolutely, I need to get that downloaded
@@Stuckntherut1 Have also known a few guys that staked out a hound/beagle & used a hound bark. Then hid in tree stands and slaughtered them wolves! Apparently they can't resist that live dog. Sounds crazy I know but true story.
Yeah I think that they should have killed all of the wolfs when they had the chance if it weren't for the stupid liberals
@rapaduuri suuri , your nasty snark will not win friends and influence ppl.
Young Toby from the office?
I am not that boring, am I? Ha ha
No you aren’t

When u have help howl back and forth with a partner it will get a quicker response. Wolves are smart to lone howls it will confuse and increase your answering from them.
Thank you for your input
naturally we have a wolf hunter here
