Dr. Dray, thank you for saying that. I’ve been saying that to a lot of people to stop commenting on people’s skin, pointing out their insecurities. It’s such bad taste. My manager does that to my coworker, pointing out if she has dry skin, a breakout, or even when her skin is oily. It’s awful & such poor taste in her character or anyone else doing this. I have been in that receiving end once upon a time. It’s a really embarrassing experience. Thank you for mentioning this Dr. Dray.
I agree. People would comment that I had gotten a lot of sun or a sunburn constantly when I was dealing with rosacea. Oil of oregano kicked its butt after a long time of trial error and money. I took it internally in case anyone wanted to know. Even before I had skin issue I never commented on another person's abnormal skin condition. Even my best friend insulted me one time about it. Like I didn't comment on his hair situation because that's insensitive and hurtful.
I've always had trouble falling asleep, and have started waking up more and more throughout the night as I've gotten older, so I've often wondered the same thing. My skin is always duller and oiler during periods of poor sleep, and sometimes my seborrheic dermatitis flares, so it has to deal with increased scratching and irritation, but less sleeping hours to repair itself. I mean, that can't be good
@@dianam9028 Me too! I get up about 4:30 am to work out before work and sometimes I finally fall asleep at 1 or 2am ☹ Even though I love my skin and want it to be and look healthy, I want to sleep good for my over all health. Unfortunately its not as simple as just go to be early-for me anyway.
This sounds like a presentation I gave in college (I'm a nurse now). I got an A and my professor and classmates were impressed. YOU GET AN A+ DR. DRAY ❤️ this was GREAT!
Oh my gosh, the comments I got about my son’s eczema when he was small were heartbreaking and would happen anywhere. “What’s wrong with him?” “Does he have chicken pox?” “Is that contagious?” “He looks sick, have you seen a doctor?” Not to mention the comments directed at a 2 year old, “Are you ok buddy?” “Does mommy help you with your ouchies?” 🙄🤦🏻♀️ Sleeping with an itchy toddler was exactly as you described, no one was sleeping! I was perpetually exhausted. I’d come home from work, make him dinner and afterwards I’d sit him in front of the tv (🙈) so I could take a nap. Then I’d spend 60% of my weekend sleeping. Awful, awful, awful life and I really sympathize with anyone currently going through it. Hang in there, it does get better!
Dr Dray, could you please make a video on chronic inflammatory diseases and their effects on skin as well as the effects of immunosuppresive therapy on skin? They are often overlooked and it would mean the world to me.
I deeply appreciate this video, Dr. Dray. I remember when I was really struggling with my cystic acne, others felt the need to frequently comment on my skin which always made me feel so much worse. That was when my self-esteem was at its lowest and it felt like no one understood the impact on the quality of my life. It took a very long time to get to a place of happiness and appreciation for my skin but I completely agree that others commenting on my appearance did not help me at all. ❤
Yes! I’m going to love this. I’m a person who my body goes to bed same time every night and wakes up every day same time. I also need complete darkness and sound of my fan to sleep. When I travel, sleep mask is my bff. Have a great day! 💕💕💕
Great info. As a mom with an eczema child (he's grown now) THANK YOU for highlighting the sleep deprivation aspect for child and parents. My son was miserable at night, poor guy. The rash started at 6 months old and didn't present normally, so 2 skin biopsies later (they didn't the first) we got our answer. During bad flair ups his personality would change and his concentration was greatly impacted. People don't think of these aspects. Most grateful you are shining a light on it.
A long time ago, my daughter's pediatrician recommended putting a fishtank in her bedroom. It added much needed moisture to the air which helped her asthma. She loved it.
In hawaii at night in my area, the humidity can rise up to 90% at night!! We need a dehumidifier in multiple rooms. The high humidity triggers our allergies and definitely makes me break out often

I am menopausal so sleep is a bit elusive anyway, and then with the hives, well...so they are now under control with Allegra(went thru several drugs but avoided the injectable Xolair so far) but it was pretty itchy and annoying there for awhile. Very well said Dr. I have been in Peri menopause for 10 years and I do not sleep well. I have chronic pain too that does not help. The past months As soon as I get into bed the soles of my feet itch like really bad that it has affected me trying to sleep. I did see a Dr and not much they can do as they told me its my fibromyalgia. I keep a diffuser in each room and at night I put lavender or chamomile oils in it. As much as I know how important sleep is, I have such a hard time unwinding and de-stressing when I get home late at night from work and then have to get up early the next morning. The result is usually only about 5 hours of sleep. It can definitely take a toll on the skin as well as the body. Happy Wednesday, Dr Dray! I hope you have a nice evening. 💚
I used to have insomnia and anxiety until one friend recommended me Relaxium Sleep pills, it changed my life dramatically, there are other brands that are good too like BEAM, but Relaxium is way more affordable. There is nothing better than close your eyes and be sleeping within few minutes… I even stop grinding my teeth.
I definitely look a lot younger and my skin looks better when I get my necessary sleep ( fireworks this past weekend did not help me and my sleep scores reflected that ) lol 🎊💰🎁🎉
i have asthma. and allergic rhinitis. and had eczema as a child which developed into ichthyosis vulgaris. so now i need to follow a disciplined exfoliate-moisturize-seal routine. to prevent my face skin from scaling up i used to smother it with moisturizers growing up and now my face has large open pores, dullness and permanent deep seated white&blackheads :-/ meh. life's still beautiful.

I know if I don't get at least 6 hours of sleep a night, I physically feel sick the next day. There were many days I was so tired at work that I couldn't function to my usual capability due to being so overly tired and sleep deprived. And, I also physically show it overall when I've been sleep deprived. I still have one to two nights a week I toss and turn, but I'm retired now, so I do nap when I do not sleep well the night before. Thanks for this awesome video, Dr. Dray.
Thank you so much!! This was the video I needed. I wake up multiple times a night scratching 😬 Going to get a bed spread I can wash more often than my bulky comforter and minimize the clutter in my room. Thanks for the information and ideas to help 🙏🙏🙏
I did the same thing so I can wash. I just layer 3 lighter blankets, works like a charm. Still has the weight I need to feel when I’m asleep but easier to wash. Still working on the decluttering.
Pink!!!! Looking gorgeous!!! I experienced a very traumatic experience in my childhood, my therapist told me that people who experience traumatic episodes in their life are prone to have insomnia and asthma… which I used to have A LOT, I don’t have asthma anymore, but I do have insomnia. About a year ago I was recommended by a friend this pills called “ Relaxium sleep” they don’t need medical prescription and it has TRULY CHANGED my life for good… the best thing is that I don’t feel sleepy during the day, all the contrary, I feel well rested. It is amazing how the body is all connected. Thank you for this video Dr. Dray.
I have been experiencing horrible nite itching & have acute insomnia. Have given up on sleep @ nite. Suffer from Bullous Pemphigoid!!! Please please can you help me understand more about this incurable autoimmune disease. Thank you & I’m so happy I’ve found you!❤️❤️❤️
For white noise I listen to a repeat chapter of an Audio book. I don't use their sleep selections because at the end they blare out "I HOPE YOU ENJOYED THIS AUDIO BLAH BLAH BLAH" which defeats the purpose. Audible has been an excellent tool for me to return to sleep though.
Dr dray very intellectually explains sleep for immune function vital for survival. I’ve been having melatonin supplement as I live on a road in Bournemouth that has tourism and a hotel for house guests which has drunk people who because my room I sleep faces the garden the drunk shouting outside will wake me up on the weekends I’ve been constantly anxious about the weekends sleep deprivation so had to stop working from sleep deprivation developed ichy skin from my environment I am unable to change address as I lost my job from the sleep deprivation caused by drunk hotel. It has impacted my skin so much it causes anxiety
As I age and now have a chronic illness I have more trouble sleeping. When I was younger and slept only 6 hours a night and felt great and skin looked better. Now sometimes I get 10 hours the next night 4 and never feel rested. But my skin is looking better back on retinol! I have chronic Epstein barr virus, Allergy induced asthma, and osteoarthritis. Taking benadryl helps me sleep. But I read that it isn't good for the brain. I love that you point out the importance of a therapist. I had one who helped me in many ways. But the best was she helped me to stop having nightmare related to my PTSD with just therapy and no drugs.
Chronic insomnia really should be considered a disability. A “normal” or “good” sleeper will never understand what many nights of very little sleep will do to a person overtime. Most haven’t ever experienced or had to perform on more than 1 night of bad sleep at a time, which isn’t that difficult. And if you’re a healthy sleeper, you’re much more able to recovery after a bad night or 2, compared to someone who is functioning on 2-5 hours per night for weeks.
I agree. It’s a very difficult thing to live and cope with, and because it’s so often comorbid with other disorders, makes it all the harder to properly treat or get under control.
To those who are having insomnia, try to be easier on yourself, give yourself some quality time, exercise, see some natures. Remember nobody is perfect. You cannot achieve everything in life let alone what’s everything at the first place. I know it’s easier said than done but care people less. Care YOU more. Being selfish is not a bad thing when it comes to your own health and if anybody critiques you for that shame on him/her.
I have IBD and this is the first I've heard that it can get worse at night, but mine absolutely does! My symptoms are always worse as the day goes on. I also sleep terribly and it definitely reflects in my skin. Thankfully I don't have any other inflammatory diseases yet, just rosecea and on my way to osteoarthritis before 40
Love the glow on your skin What products did you use? Thanks so much for all the information you share You truly are a generous kind doctor Be well, stay safe
Menopause is notorious for causing insomnia and itchy skin. I have both. :-( After trying many different products to relieve the itch I found the only one that works is Vaseline Intensive Care Deep Moisture jelly cream. Even the more expensive 'anti-itch' formulas like CeraVe's did nothing to help. As for the insomnia, I alternate between melatonin and L-Thianine taken at night.
when I slept lat eon weekends my mom used to tell me my acne will get worse from so much sleep! I used to believe this but lately I noticed that my skin glows when I sleep a lot

I’ve had lupus since I was 14 (SLE) I’m now 32 I have no skin issues. However at night I itch and get restless leg syndrome. And in recent years now chronic kidney failure. So I get up maybe three times a night to use the toilet. I don’t think I’ve never slept well really and so sleep in the day when I don’t itch or get restless leg. Somehow I look like I’m in my 20s still and I swear by sleeping and hydrating. For the reason I don’t have bad aging yet. I’m however always exhausted. I’m pretty sure I never get a chance to get into a deep sleep.

Thank you Dr. Dray. I've been snoring my whole life and finally saw a doctor because of your videos. I likely have polyps and a deviated septum. So...I may possibly need a nose job, and insurance will cover it!!
I know this is an informative video, but I’m just mesmerized by your eyes and hair tbh. Can’t put my finger on what’s different, but you’re looking especially gorgeous in this video!
You’re one of best on this platform to me. You address skin holistically like myself. Not just pushing products. You look extremely beautiful in this video! Just needed you to know though I may not always comment.
Everyone should read the book why we sleep. It changed my life!
Thank you Dr Dray. Another amazing, informative video. It explains so much. I have both asthma and eczema too. 🌷🥰
Dray.
Happy Wednesday, Doc! You look so glowy and gorgeous today, so a perfect look for the topic! ❤️ 🌸
Thank you so much!! This was the video I needed. I wake up multiple times a night scratching 😬
Going to get a bed spread I can wash more often than my bulky comforter and minimize the clutter in my room.
Thanks for the information and ideas to help 🙏🙏🙏
I did the same thing so I can wash. I just layer 3 lighter blankets, works like a charm. Still has the weight I need to feel when I’m asleep but easier to wash. Still working on the decluttering.
@@alyshal417 that’s a great idea!!
Such a thorough and thoughtful video. Not a surprise from Dr. Dray, but still…excellent.
Agree, she is amazing.
Super interesting, thanks! I like how you branch out into general health/wellbeing as well as just skin.
Thank you Dr. Andrea! Been sleeping bad past few days, and I really need some good sleep! Thanks for the video and the tips... ❤🙏😊
Glad it was helpful!

Dr. Dray, love your content! (Also, I love that shade of pink on you. You look great!)
Dray.
What’s in them
Is it just me or does dr dray look even better than usual in this vid? Girlie is glowing
Pink suits her a lot 😌💕
I have been experiencing horrible nite itching & have acute insomnia. Have given up on sleep @ nite. Suffer from Bullous Pemphigoid!!! Please please can you help me understand more about this incurable autoimmune disease. Thank you & I’m so happy I’ve found you!❤️❤️❤️
You’re makeup looks so incredible!!
I love you for the knowledge you bring to us 🥰
For white noise I listen to a repeat chapter of an Audio book. I don't use their sleep selections because at the end they blare out "I HOPE YOU ENJOYED THIS AUDIO BLAH BLAH BLAH" which defeats the purpose. Audible has been an excellent tool for me to return to sleep though.
Sleeping gloves(to avoid scratch) and anti-itchy cream are a must for my bedtime.
I hope I can sleep peacefully tonight😴
Watching this while having been awake for 23 hours is a (for lack of a better term) wake-up call
I'm with you. It's so awful.
Can you get disability having insomnia?
You look glowing Dr💕
Thank you so much 🙂
To those who are having insomnia, try to be easier on yourself, give yourself some quality time, exercise, see some natures.
Thankfully I don't have any other inflammatory diseases yet, just rosecea and on my way to osteoarthritis before 40
Love the glow on your skin
What products did you use?
Thanks so much for all the information you share
You truly are a generous kind doctor
Be well, stay safe
Happy Wednesday Dr Dray and peeps ❤️ ❤️ 😴 😴
Same to you!

I have both but I’m in perimenopause and the itching I have is caused by allergies I never had until 2 years ago.
❤️ 🌷
My grandmother had both eczema and asthma! Wow
Good info!
You look great w your eye shadow and your bright top!
Dr. Dray, you are Gorgeous & Brilliant! Dropping knowledge on us FOR FREE. Love ya, Dr. Dray
Hey Dr. Dray, love the vids!
One suggestion I have is to have timestamps/chapters so that the video is marked and easy to navigate :)
when I slept lat eon weekends my mom used to tell me my acne will get worse from so much sleep! I used to believe this but lately I noticed that my skin glows when I sleep a lot

I love reading on my kindle as my vision is getting worse and I can't read a paper book without strain. I have it turn on the blue light filter early in the evening.
Why is no one talking about Dr dray's banging make up game today ??!!! I LOVE IT! 😍
I love it too!
@@naddyn685 yay!
Happy Wednesday Dr Dray...see you tomorrow x💙🤩
You too!!
Try unplugging your internet wireless connection. I feel it makes a difference. I feel it disrupts the nervous system. No cell phone in your bedroom also
I can see how tired my skin looks when I don't sleep enough 😭😭😭
thanks for watching
With all due respect, you are so pretty Dr. Dray!
Watching this at 12 AM in my country 😵💤
hope you sleep well
Okay but dr dray you look so beautiful!
I have chronic nasal congestion and i know that's why I don't get good sleep. Have tried everything even nasal surgery...nothing has helped. 🙁
Great and very informative.
can you talk about anxiety and correlation to skin conditions? i feel like i get itchy rashes, more acne, bumps all over, etc when I'm more anxious.
Have you seen her video, top 5 ways stress destroys skin? She's got a few videos on stress/mental health.
Hello, I am a female and 42. I have sleep apnea and wear a mask at night. I usually have about 6-7 or 9 hours of sleep at night. I usually don't do skin care at night, because I don't want my mask to slip off due to moisturizer. So, I do skin care in the morning. I just wanted to put that out there. Good sleep and hydration are very important for good skin health. Anyway, good video content. I am not on any social media platform, you can respond to my email address. 😃
