This albums is turning out to be possibly the best since 11 dreams - even surpassing. This song is the best elements of River of Madness, World Hate Center, Welcome the Sickness. Taking that roughness from the old with the refined sound of Sandager years but with the newly improved powerhouse sound of the René era!
Its like they spend the last 10 years going back through their history and took the best parts of each age. This is gonna be a masterpiece!
Not even close to 11 Dreams but this is very, very good stuff in deed!
~11 dreams is still today a perfection of an album, with so many original traits, that they never repeated again ever. THIS SONG, i feel it could be inserted in a pirate copy of 11 dreams album, and you would not notice it was a "spy" there xD

Mercenary are back at their best. Loved them since The Hours That Remain and still one of the best Melodic Death Metal bands on the planet. Plain and simply AWESOME!!!!

“Long awaited album” is quite the understatement!! So good to have these guys back - on top form too it would seem. Time certainly hasn’t impacted their songwriting skills, this is a masterful track, cannot wait for the album to drop.
Around ten years ago I stumbled upon Mercenary.
Sound was something that I had not heard before. Brutal, yet hints of hope and lyrics to match up it all. It was instant love. In years I have been worried because the sound changed with new albums and was afraid that the direction would go too far what made the band stand out for the rest.. Then The Where Darkened Souls Belong came and now Heart of the Numb.. I have listened these on repeat and tearing how great these songs are.. Welcome back, Mercenary. I really missed you. Not only you found your sound again, but actually surpassed it and it sounds legendary!!

Omg FINALLY!! It’s been ten years since the last album, 5 years ago was when I discovered you guys. I am not exaggerating when I say you all have touched me deeply so much. Metamorphosis & Through Our Darkest Days have meant so much to me, and I’ve been waiting so long for this day to finally come that Mercenary comes back with a new album.
Seeing the preorder on ITunes I literally almost went to tears from how happy I was, you guys have been my favorite band of all time and I mean it with all my heart.
Thank you Mercenary for coming back after all these years, I can’t stress how much this has meant to me.

HOLY SHIT! I love this so much! All 3 songs have been so good and something special, well worth the wait. I remember when Through Our Darkest Days came out in 2013, my daughter was about to be born. She turns 10 this year. Crazy how much time has passed, but I'm so ready for the whole album Mercenary! Hailing from Canada, been a MASSIVE fan since 11 Dreams came out in North America in 2005!

My guess is Rene. He seems to have worked a lot on his clean vocals. Nice!
I'm pretty sure Matt did the harsh vocals in the second verse and backing vocals in the final chorus and that's it. Cleans are definetely not his.
