@Ermac The Soul Eater I don't think we have true information about Aatrox, Rhaast, Varus and the other Darkin forms as Ascended aspects, but presumably they also took on the visage of animals. Xerath is the only one different because he wasn't supposed to ascend to begin with, the ritual was made with Azir in mind and I reckon it makes a big difference. That and he got a shitload of energy from the sundisk and basically became a twisted and extreme form of ascended that is called Baccai.
I have played Aatrox for at least 5 years now. I honestly love his story. A man subject to isolation for far too long, becomes insane and only wants to die. So he clings to a blind hope; if the world cease to exist, then MAYBE. Maybe he will die too.
The best part about the "i must congratulate you. Obviously your parents never had reason to." Line is when a player does the champion mastery emote in game. He is basically shit talking the enemy show boater for you
Aatrox line at 26:45 is a special interaction for meeting zoe. and the reason he says that is because zoe is the current vessel for the aspect of twilight and the vessel of the aspect of twilight that caused the darkin to get sealed inside thier weapons looked like zoe. so aatrox is thinking zoe is the one who got him sealed but she just looks the same as the previous aspect of twilight. And his line at 23:00 is an interaction for when he meet a void creature(i think it was cho'gath but i am not sure) And his line at 27:57 is a line he says when someone uses lvl 7(or lvl 6 too i think) mastery inside the game And mastery is kind of a score system for playing champions and there is a rating for every game for how well you played in that game the lowest rating is D and the highest is S+ and to reach a lvl 6 mastery on any champion you need to play them well in the game so you get a high rating twice and for lvl 7 mastery you need to get rated with the champ no less than S or S+ three times. So that last line is him simply saying that you're a failure. kinda
He's not mad at pantheon he's mad at zoe, the current aspect of twighlight. Her predecessor is who told people how to lock darkin into their weapons. He's not happy with pantheon, but he's not really happy with anyone. Pantheon actually fought him before which is why he calls himself godkiller. He killed the god pantheon, but atreus lived and severed his hand making aatrox just a weapon again. Atrerus is still called pantheon because he dropped his name to become essentially a symbol.

He thinks he is a god, his pride never letting go. The people are his toys to do as he pleases. The real gods come and chain his soul in his sword. But it was an imperfect prison, he drowns but has no lungs. He exists yet he wishes he doesn't. He cannot move, cannot see, but he feels, Endless suffering and agony; immortality. Years and years he suffers as a sword in the ground. It drives him mad, and then some. He can't get out, he can't die. In his insanity he ponders what would happen should everything stop existing, would he be free? Would he to stop existing? Yes, yes that must be the answer end everything and maybe he to will end. Someone grabs him, he rips their will from the body and takes it over as his own. He slaughters everything in his wake. Wearing the flesh in a rotting copy of his once pure form. Vengeance is a weak word to discribe his work. He is The World-Ender, he is The God-Killer. He is not your enemy. He is THE Enemy. May the gods end him or he will end all.
Pretty much Aatrox and his brethren, which were called the Ascended, fought against the Void in the war vs Icathia, they are pretty much immortal, which ended up really sucking cuz the Void twisted their minds very badly. So with the help of a traitor Darkin named Xolaani, and I believe some celestials, Aatrox and the other Ascended were trapped in their weapons and eventually turned into Darkin. Now, Aatrox has been freed and pretty much wants to end his suffering by dying, alongside killing everything else that lives and is free, cuz he was robbed of that himself. Since the Darkin have their minds trapped in their weapons, Aatrox seized the body and mind of whoever grabbed his sword instantly. He also really hates his corrupted form cuz its a mockery of what he really looked like before. He keeps killing in order to maintain that form and he can grow in size depending on how much he kills and absorb blood. So, he's just an extremely powerful, yet extremely depressed general who wants to kill everything and die in order to achieve peace for himself and his brethren. I love the character, I main him in League of Legends, glad you guys reacted to his voice lines :)
Aatroxx is the Blade. He was imprisoned after the Darkin war inside his blade by the aspect of twighlight. The sword was then picked up by a random warrior in the north. Aatroxx then took over that warriors body.
Fun fact: his heart inside of his sword you can even see this flashy stuff (it's like a heart beat) Also any1 who touches that sword Imideantly are going to be possessed by Aatrox. And his killing everyone because he needs blood to keep that form alive.
Have to state this, but the Aspect of War.. the embodiment of combat.. picked a fight with Aatrox and was beaten so badly that the God died in the Heavens from the hit and the mortal lived. The mortal is Atreus, otherwise known as Pantheon. Pantheon still has a hint of the power of the Aspect, but the God of War is dead. Add on fact, Tryndamere held Aatrox for a while and was able to resist being completely consumed by him. That said, he's still affected by it and his berzerker rage is really just a fraction of the power of Aatrox.

Aatrox is the sword, a Darkin is a failed ascended god and now trap at anything. If someone/something touches it, they will become one. ((Spoiler ::Just like the upcoming new darkin champion whose likely to be kind of a dog.)) Similar to Varus, there are 2 guy lovers being fused with Varus ( the bow ), so they are technically 3 people trap in one body. You'll notice that Darkin has double A's in their names ( with the exception of Varus ), and an apostrophe " ' " for Void champions like Kai'sa , Cho'Gath , Rek'Sai ( with the exception of Malzahar ).

Gonna try to answer a few questions, I see a number of people have left longer comments but I can't resist as Aatrox is my main man, spent a lot of trim playing him as well as digging into his lore lol First off yes, he was originally a "god warrior," the noblest of these soldiers even, and he lead other god warriors as their general against the largest void incursion the planet has ever seen, and won. Earned him the title "The Blade of Icathia." However they all spent a lot of time exposed to the corruption of the void and it slowly twisted them all. When the empire they served fell, they had already begun to suffer from paranoia and reckless ambitions, so with no more emperor to serve and maintain order they started to war amongst themselves, catching mortals in the midst of their god-tier battles. So a celestial being known as the "aspect of twilight," (the one before the character known as Zoe took the mantle) gave mortals the knowledge and means to trap these god warriors, now called Darkin, and the aspect of war, known as Pantheon, gathered the armies of the mortals to lure the Darkin into a fight only for a trap to be sprung and chaining the most powerful Darkin within their own weapons, and obliterating those too weak to survive. Aatrox was trapped within his own sword, and apparently while within this prison he is ALWAYS conscious, he cannot sleep or rest, but he has no body so cannot breath or eat, but he still feels like he must so is stuck in a constant state of perpetual suffocation and starvation. This lasts for hundreds of years at a time, leading to the breaking of his mental state. Once someone grabs his blade though, it releases all of his willpower in a massive burst, completely annihilating the soul of the wielder and forcefully shaping their flesh to try and mimic the way he looked prior to his imprisonment, as he takes control of the body. However, being the strongest of the Darkin he's too powerful for a mortal body to contain him, so he's ever decaying unless he kills more mortals and uses their flesh and blood to sustain his vessel, usually making it larger in the process. Whenever he's killed though, usually cause he goes too long without having any mortals to consume, he just goes back to his prison in his sword, he literally CANNOT die. After an extremely long time of doing this, constantly attempting to maintain his vessels or finding ways to kill himself, he finally snapped and thought to himself "if I just destroy EVERYTHING, if I end all life on the planet, then I MUST also then be able to die!" So without any proof of his theory he decided it was now his purpose to literally "end all things," which is the state of mind he is currently in at the time of these quotes you listened to. A couple extras though, one of which being about how he was talking to himself, as you noticed. He has actually developed the habit of talking in these long monologues and even openly talking to himself because of an intense and engrained fear of being trapped again, being alone and without any faculties. He talks a lot and to himself as if he's his own companion to deal with this fear and essentially make as much use of his time with a body as he can. Another tid bit of information is that in the card game LoR, Aatrox and other Darkin have been included in the "what-if" scenarios of the game. In them he actually goes around and collects his trapped comrades, other Darkin who called him General, and through the dialogue in the game you learn that he's actually an incredibly caring General, having a deep love and concern for his subordinates and he not only wants to end the world to free himself but also them. You also however see more of his hatred, a Darkin who betrayed him for example and one he refuses to forgive and wants nothing more then to "break upon her altar," as he puts it. He also has the potential of destroying this traitor Darkin, as well as defeating both Kayle and the Rune Mage, Ryze, in open combat in a 1v3, and if he were to succeed in the "what-if" conflict the world of Runeterra actually breaks apart because of the scale of the battle, effectively making his self given title of "WORLD ENDER" a legit one, he actually does have the power and capabilities to accomplish this if no one can stop him. Finally, he is actually the best roaster in the whole game, and to see this you should check out the video "Aatrox in-game interactions," and he roast, fries, and lays out to dry more champions then any other in the game TO DATE! Some of his roasts are so harsh Riot has removed them from the game, they will no longer play in game anymore LOL Apparently the reason behind this is that the voice actor for Aatrox, Tikaram, was having so much fun getting into character and the writing team was loving his performance so much they just kept going, they just started making up ways for Aatrox to roast other champions and Tikaram simply continued to fucking KILL IT. It was a short lived trend among some champions to do it, so the team likely had some in mind already, but there seriously aren't as many champions that make fun of so many others, and so well lol Hope you find some of this information fun and/or useful, loved the reactions to Aatrox, he really is one of the best champs in the game to check out xD

So the "demon" You see is what happens when someone gets a hold of a darkin weapon and gets their body taken over by the darkin it is technically still aatrox but only an approximation of what he actually looks like.

Aatrox is an important amazing and depressing character. you hear a couple of the voice lines in game when you play him once (depending on the enemys and how you play and what you buy) but you can eventually hear them all if you play often enough as him. My favorite voice lines are: Violence ... destracts from these chains. The only peace I seek... is death! it really makes you feel for him and reinforces his goal to end all life in the hope of dying himself finally if life is over since he tried every other way. You got a lot of the lore in the other comments. Shurima is a pretty vast and important place and i bet you are happy to hear he hails from there. When you realize that the only reason why Aatrox screams so much is because he is terrified of not being heard, the only reason he kills is out of pure despair and in search of the slightest grim of hope that maybe someone can destroy him and his blade, and when you realize that the reason why he has so many quotes in the 3rd person is because he's afraid of being alone... such a sad character, From The strongest Hero That has been born, to a Betrayed Madman who has lost hope even in death, carried now only by his former pride...Also the thing about the “Fight or be forgotten” line is… Old Aatrox told this to his enemies. New Aatrox tells this to himself. If he stop fighting, he reverts into prison… In the dark, hungry, unable to breath, unable to scream… Just a sword, buried and… Forgotten.
If Arcane will go out of PnZ, this is one of the stories definitely they should serialized.. There's not much we know about pre Darkin/ascended of Aatrox.

They got mindfucked in the horrors of the Void and the outcome war itself; coming home but the Empire they served is gone into ruins; they don't know what to do, learned forbidden sorceries (like Xerath) and they mastered every primal magics; they lose some purpose and started to become tyrants and think they're righteous rulers of the realms and started to fight among themselves ofc their are some good Ascended left but so dumb that one of 'em really sacrificed his celestial essence or DNA that triggered their imprisonment into their own weapons. Basically the Darkin are gods that have PTSD lol

Top videos would be Story of LoL explained (mostly non-champion-pre-current-time-stuff), the world of Riots MMO is already done (introduces you to all the regions and whats their deal), How powerful are champions according to lore (u get to know some stuff about all existing champs during video release), Official timeline of LoL (newest up-to-date history video) and depending how much u wanna do I can also recommend The Bosses & Raids of Riot's MMO (deep lore about a handful of strong champs as you want Aatrox to be one) or even his second video in his MMO hype series Races and Classes of Riots MMO (explains itself and you already know a lot of champs soo, literally just fantasicing of what potential the world has as an MMO)
when he said "IT WAS YOU TRICKSTER YOU GAVE THEM THE TOOLS TO TRAP ME!" hes talking about Zoe who told mortals how to seal him away into his sword. and how he got out of the seal is a bunch of farmers were running away from noxian soldiers and they found the Blade that contains AATROX then they proceeded to try to use him defensively but AATROX the badass he is took control of the swords weilders body and killed his friends and the soldiers and then crafted himself a body from their dead flesh.
Aatrox is the Sword and the body is the poor sap who picked up his blade. Aatrox was a Golden God Warrior of Shurima, a Ascended. During a war with the void almost all Ascended were corrupted by the void slightly, they were cursed to hear the madding whispers of the Void. Over time 3 champions Azir, Renekton, and Nasus managed to keep control over the corrupted for a time, but after Azir dying, Renekton being imprisoned, and Nasus falling to depression over losing his brother (Renekton) the corrupted were 'let off the leash' so to speak. They fought for petty reasons Land, Disagreements, Material gain, and etc. At some point another Darkin known as Xolaani created blood magic and infused the Darkin with it with a secret plan to use the magic to stop and control the rampaging Darkin. Aatrox found out about her plot and the 2 had a civil war over it. This war risked destroying the planet so the Celestials of Targon stepped in. The Aspect of Twilight (Zoe's previous incarnation) gave mortals the power to imprison Darkin in their own weapons if they couldnt kill them. Aatrox was in a league of his own, by the time he was the last standing Darkin he was near unstoppable until the Aspect of War (Pantheon) was sent to deal with him personally. Aatrox is known as the God Killer because during this fight he killed the ASPECT not just his body. He killed the body so hard the Celestial god itself died. He was weaked during this fight and was imprisoned after the fact. When a Darkin is in their weapon they are still aware, but have no senses, like a sensory deprivation thing. The 'Cage' is the body he has possessed, the 'Prison' is the sword. Aatrox has been free for awhile and during this time he tried to die, but NOTHING can kill him. He wants to die more than anything, but his pride as a warrior refuses to just lie down. He is deeply depressed and uses murder and slaughter to 'Hide himself in the carnage'. Aatrox is also so damn powerful he burns his host out like a battery, but he found out he can use blood magic to graft the fallen dead to his body to make himself as large and as powerful the more people he kills. So his final plan is to cause a "End War" a war to end everything with the hope that either A. Someone or something can kill him or B. The end war also destroys him. P.S at about the 22:20 minute mark he swaps to champion interactions (what he says when he meets other champs in the game).

He participated in the battle against Icathia and helped drive back the Void from the region around it. Eventually, the Shuriman Empire fell. Without a leader or an enemy, the Ascended clashed with each other, bringing ruin to the rest of Runeterra. Mortals eventually began to know the clashing Ascended as the Darkin, an old Shuriman word which most closely translated to 'The Fallen'. Fearing for the fate of Runeterra, the celestial beings of Targon intervened. The Aspect of Twilight showed mortals how to bind the Darkin to their weapons. However, the Darkin did not know this, and when the Aspect of War rallied mortals behind him to fight the Darkin, Aatrox went into battle. His consciousness was bound to his battle sword and trapped in darkness. Aatrox was trapped in this darkness trying to release himself for centuries. One day, an unknown mortal tried to wield Aatrox's sword. Aatrox quickly took over this human's body and reformed it as close to his original Ascended form as possible, but in doing so killed the body. Aatrox would eventually come to possess a variety of hosts, learning blood magic and getting better at taking over bodies, all the while trying to understand his new form and trying to escape it. He eventually realized that he could not escape his predicament. Out of desperation, Aatrox decided that he would instead plunge the world into oblivion. Because if he could make it so everything could stop existing, then there was a chance that death could release him from his prison inside his weapon. Aatrox continues to wreak havoc across Runeterra, taking over hosts and killing all that he sees., with his ultimate goal being to take revenge on the Aspects and reach oblivion in death.
22:30 new league champs have so much voice lines. so if you play them often they dont feel boring and like repeating themself all the time. so you dont hear every line in every single game.
THe sheer amount of hope we all have that one of the first LEAGUE MMO expansions or storylines is the assault from the darkin. All of them. AATROX would have to be last though. Hes such a problem. A few others would be good but the big boi is a serious issues
The Sword isn't alive, the Sword is AATROX. After his sealing in his sword he lost a lot of power, at his peak he killed the god of war, the one before Pantheon, and he just hate himself, and since he cannot be killed, he is in constent pain, his goal is just destroy everything, even the creation, since when there will be nothing left he will be able to die and cease his miserable existence. also he deeply hate Zoe, because it's her who gave the knowledge to other on how to seal him, before that he was a proud and fearsome warrior, and yes he fought against the void, Basicly now he just feel so much hate and pain, he just want everyone to feel it to .
the sword is aatrox hes the strongest of the darkin he got powers both from the ascension ritual and from actual gods, he was betrayed by humans that he supported when fighting the void, the aspect of twilight gave them the tool to entrap them but aatrox is forced to live imprisont inside the sword only being able corrupt the mortals that wield him also he cannot die unless all life ends is his messed up way to cope being imprisoned inside the sword
well tryndmare is baiscally a warrior from fliriod who i believe if memory service me correctly fought atrox and he got thrusted with atraox sword but tryndmare did not die because atrox by doing that some how tryndmare inharited atrox rage and kinda prefected it and being unkillable in that state and atrox destroyed tryndmare home but tryndmare slayed atrox body but i do not remember really but so far been scrolling down and no one talked about it

so league players are complaining that riot has been really lazy about their lore and champions lately. we had viego, whose whole summer event was botched. we have nilah, k’sante who don’t really do much in the lore. it’s good that arcane has shown a new audience that this game used to be so good. league of legends was fun at one time. it’s a damn shame what it has become now. i hope riot sees this video and realise that maybe they should put more effort into the lore and new champions.
The darkin were shuriman ascended that got touched by the void in the war against Icathia. At first they were kept under control but then the whole Azir and Xerath stuff happened and the empire fell. So with no one to keep them under control they gave in to the voices. Then they learned blood magic to morph their bodies so they could live forever. The aspects noticed the darkin were wreaking havoc on runeterra. The aspect of twillight gave the mortals the methods and tools to trap them. So they were summoned all at once in one place and a lot of them were sealed away forever in the chalicar (Sivir's weapon). But some of them managed to escape, and were later trapped in their own weapons. Those darkin that were trapped in their own weapons can still come back if a mortal tries to wield the weapon. The darkin then takes control of the body. But most of the time the body can't stand such power. That's why aatrox says things like "this decaying flesh...". He must constantly kill people to use blood magic to renew his current body until he finds a stronger vessel. He himself considers Tryndamere and Atreus (Pantheon's human vessel) worthy bodies. Tryndamere and his kinsmen were ambushed and slaughtered in an instant by Aatrox, but Tryndamere managed to stand against him. He sustained injuries from the darkin blade, that will later give him the ability to use blood magic too. Pantheon, Aatrox and Aurelion Sol are the three characters that are very angry against the celestials, for being messed up by them. Kayn is a character that is wielding the Darkin scythe known as Rhaast. He manages to keep him under control, so he isn't completely lost (you can see in his splash art that only his arm looks like has fallen to the darkin). Varus in the other hand, has completely control of the body, but is fighting inside against the will of the two humans. In the wiki of league there is a whole article about darkins. There you can see all the known darkins. There is even a darkin balista that got control of a chicken body.
Once Aatrox was one of the god warriors. He had a holy form with bright wings like dawn. He was a justice person. After his emperors died, he had to fight against the others that he called brothers and sisters. In the end he was betrayed by Aspect of twilight and mortals sealed his heart in his blade. He has suffered in “THE CAGE” for many thousand years. “The breath I cannot take plagues me. It is an emptiness in my lungs and throat. As if I had stopped mid-breath, and then held my lungs cruelly waiting. My mouth open, throat hollow, unable to pull in air. My chest, the horrible tension on my thorax. My limbs and muscles refuse to move. I cannot breathe. I am choking. The pressure builds. The stillness spreads to my chest and limbs. I want to scream, to tear at my face, to wail-but I am trapped. I cannot move. I cannot move.”
Basically someone forced him to live after his mind broke in battle. That's what happened to him, so now he is on the hund for that person (Xolani) and destroyes everything in his way. Just blind rage and carnage.
3:35 i would love to see aatrox in the riot mmo as a raid boss, too bad it would never happen. aatrox is canonically one of the most powerful end game excistances in all of league of legends lore. like top 5 i think. maybe riot would add aatrox in like the last 5 expansions for the game but i doubt that would happen anytime soon.

i agree that more games need to have voice overs or just that foreboding feeling as you approach the boss destiny 2 kinda is like that in raids through every encounter the bosses generally talk to you and when you get to them they give a brief speech or talk throughout the fight its cool

So aatrox is my favorite character he is part of a race called darkin they are demonic souls usually trapped inside weapons I believe those who wield them become extremely violent and powerful aatrox is the oldest darkin yet I believe my favorite lines are "I am not a king I am not a god I am worse" "I AM AATROX I AM THE WORLD ENDER"
Aatrox is a warrior God raised up by other gods to fight against the Void, was corrupted by repeated exposure to the Void, betrayed by the Gods not corrupted by the Void, sealed inside his own sword, and left in what is equivalent to a sensory deprivation chamber for thousands of years. The only way he can sense the outside world is when someone is in contact with his sword-prison, so he uses blood magic to seize control of that poor unfortunate soul's body and remodel it into a crude approximation of his original body. However, his remodeling also means that his host body is in a constant state of decay, and in order to sustain it, Aatrox needs blood to fuel his blood magic. Hence, he goes on a rampage of wanton slaughter, all the while seeking vengeance against those that wronged him, the Aspects, as well as the ultimate destruction of the world of Runeterra, so that he can be free from his imprisonment wiyhin his own sword, as well as his own death. Aatrox has specific beef with the Aspect of War, one of his uncorrupted battle brothers who betrayed him and had a direct hand in his sealing, who currently resides in Pantheon, and the Aspect of Change, aka The Trickster, who taught mortals the ritual to bind the Darkin in either their own weapons or constructs meant to contain them. The Aspect of Change currently resides in the League champion, Zoey. Aatrox also has beef with one of the other Darkin, who taught all Darkin the basics of Blood Magic, with the intent of using that to control them, but I don't remember her name, only that she uses two bloodletter hand sickles in the shape of crescent moons to fight.
what yall NEED to do is go back to voicelines of fiddlesticks ( context) he steals last words of his victims and repeats them as to try and sound human to lure his prey OR he plays with the worse memories and fears of the person he is talking too and the actor doesnt use auto tune ( or very little for some voice lines im not sure ) but his voice is SCARY TO THE BONE ... a little teaser so you know what i mean by my explenation a little better when he meets jinx he shouts: jinx, all your fault ALL YOUR FAULT ( when vi screamed at jinx) but he has a lot more and its amazing :D kindred is also amazing and one of the best stories + voicelines IMO however be ready to have ... existential crisis XD
You are clos trapped in the sword not the body. The body you see in the video is just an amalgamation basically some Manny Bodies put together to have that for so he can wield himself in battle. He was good originaly. A warrior ascended of Shurima. His ascended for was one of an angel. Radiating light. He was loved by his people. But he fought the void and then got corrupted. Then the gods traped him in the sword cuz they couldn't kill him.

He was defeated multiple times. Never died, so he came to the conclusion that maybe if everything is "dead" he might dies aswell. He only seeks his own death.
I know in WoW C'thun had some whispers in your ear as you were in the AQ raid on your way to him. Stuff like "Your friends will betray you..." "You will.. die..." and so on.
Presumably zoe showed mortals how to trap the darkin. The darkin were god warriors of shurima before they became corruputed when fighting against the void 23:00. Once they became enraged afterwards but calmed down at least until azir died. then that is when they needed to be sealed. Now the darkin consume any flesh that touches their weapon, corrupts and controls them. Which is why he becomes massive. he is just a mass of decaying flesh he has accumulated. So yes, aatroxx is now the sword, but he wasn't always even as a darkin. He seeks battle so that he might find someone capable of killing him. Presumably he has tried himself but has failed. So until he finds peace and silence he will keep marching towards death. Posted this somewehere else: Just to clarify, zoe(the trickster), and pantheon are not gods per se. They are known as aspects, and have a constellation representing them. They are worshipped like gods in Targon. But, they are actually extra-dimensional beings that want to enter ours but need a medium to do so. So they deceive humans and infect them to take over their body and mind. When aatroxx killed pantheon, the aspect died and the stars disappeared from the sky, but the man lived ;) Now as far as we know, but not too sure, pantheon may continue to wander and fight aatroxx every now and then, possibly keeping him in check while still wielding the aspects power by sheer force of will. zoe has been known to mess around. It is unclear whether she does it cuz its funny or cuz she has another motive. But, she has trapped the darkin, stolen fiddlesticks(demon king of kings) key that can release joy(demon king), teases aurelion sol(space creation dragon) because his arrogance is annoying to her or she thinks its funny. Another note the void comes from a place ruled by the watchers, possibly the greatest threat to all of runeterra. The celestials, like bard and soraka, built targon and shurima and all of runeterra so that eventually humans or beings strong enough to defeat them may appear. Periodically, they aid or push in attempt to produce strong warriors, like shurima. the purpose of the void is to consume and gain knowledge of the world. Occasionally, they may persuade or entice a person to open a rift to their world, like lissandra. They need a massive rift to be able to enter. The darkins were created by the war caused by a rift that wasn't even large enough for one to come through. Also, weird thought, aurelion also hates targon and the aspects but they have stars that represent them and their life yet he probably made those stars... Now, the watchers were waken up by a scream, which might elude to the 1st scream of the universe caused by the 1st of ten, end of men. So they might not even be the actual endgame threat.
The Darkin originally were shurima's Ascended (Humans that ascend through the solar disk of shurima and become God-warriors like nasus or renekton) and they fought the forces of the void before shurima fell. Once they came back from the war they were f'd up mentally and the death of azir just caused this PTSD to worsen, and they started fighting each other for territory and trying to get more power. They were so powerful that they couldnt be killed and the only means to make them stop was to trap them in objects (Varus is the bow, Aatrox is the sword and there's many more in riot's card game) and Aatrox is so angry and frustrated cuz he couldnt do anything, literally anything for centuries. No Vision, no smell, no sounds. Just oblivion. And since the darkins learned blood magic, they can possess people that wield them and transform them (reason why Aatrox refers to the body as a 'filthy form of flesh') but they cant achieve the original form they once had. (Fun fact: pantheon fought Aatrox and managed to sever his arm, but Aatrox killed pantheon, the pantheon we know is Atreus and he was once the host for the War Aspect [Also known as Pantheon] that's why he has that big scar in his torso. And Aatrox is the only Champion we know that killed an aspect in runeterra)
So in big short. Aatrox was an ascended warrior who stood against the Void. Because of the whisper of the void and another person Ascended started a civil war so they were called darkins. Aspect of Twilight taught humans how to trap them in their weapons so they did. Now Aatrox wanting to be free plans of destroying the world in hope of either finding someone powerful enough to kill him and or he hopes that if he destroys everything he will cease from existence because if he finishes his work, destroys the world his existence then will be meaningless. He also wants to punish everyone for trapping him in the sword.

@Ermac The Soul Eater I don't think we have true information about Aatrox, Rhaast, Varus and the other Darkin forms as Ascended aspects, but presumably they also took on the visage of animals. Xerath is the only one different because he wasn't supposed to ascend to begin with, the ritual was made with Azir in mind and I reckon it makes a big difference. That and he got a shitload of energy from the sundisk and basically became a twisted and extreme form of ascended that is called Baccai.

I have played Aatrox for at least 5 years now. I honestly love his story. A man subject to isolation for far too long, becomes insane and only wants to die. So he clings to a blind hope; if the world cease to exist, then MAYBE. Maybe he will die too.

Aatrox line at 26:45 is a special interaction for meeting zoe. and the reason he says that is because zoe is the current vessel for the aspect of twilight and the vessel of the aspect of twilight that caused the darkin to get sealed inside thier weapons looked like zoe. so aatrox is thinking zoe is the one who got him sealed but she just looks the same as the previous aspect of twilight.
And his line at 23:00 is an interaction for when he meet a void creature(i think it was cho'gath but i am not sure)
And his line at 27:57 is a line he says when someone uses lvl 7(or lvl 6 too i think) mastery inside the game
And mastery is kind of a score system for playing champions and there is a rating for every game for how well you played in that game the lowest rating is D and the highest is S+ and to reach a lvl 6 mastery on any champion you need to play them well in the game so you get a high rating twice and for lvl 7 mastery you need to get rated with the champ no less than S or S+ three times.
So that last line is him simply saying that you're a failure. kinda
He's not mad at pantheon he's mad at zoe, the current aspect of twighlight. Her predecessor is who told people how to lock darkin into their weapons. He's not happy with pantheon, but he's not really happy with anyone. Pantheon actually fought him before which is why he calls himself godkiller. He killed the god pantheon, but atreus lived and severed his hand making aatrox just a weapon again. Atrerus is still called pantheon because he dropped his name to become essentially a symbol.

Aatrox was reviered as a hero and an assended. Pride was his aspect, they think.
He fought to save his men from the void. Cursed by its touch he lost what made him human. He thinks he is a god, his pride never letting go. The people are his toys to do as he pleases.
The real gods come and chain his soul in his sword.
But it was an imperfect prison, he drowns but has no lungs. He exists yet he wishes he doesn't. He cannot move, cannot see, but he feels, Endless suffering and agony; immortality.
Years and years he suffers as a sword in the ground. It drives him mad, and then some. He can't get out, he can't die.
In his insanity he ponders what would happen should everything stop existing, would he be free? Would he to stop existing?

Pretty much Aatrox and his brethren, which were called the Ascended, fought against the Void in the war vs Icathia, they are pretty much immortal, which ended up really sucking cuz the Void twisted their minds very badly. So with the help of a traitor Darkin named Xolaani, and I believe some celestials, Aatrox and the other Ascended were trapped in their weapons and eventually turned into Darkin. Now, Aatrox has been freed and pretty much wants to end his suffering by dying, alongside killing everything else that lives and is free, cuz he was robbed of that himself. Since the Darkin have their minds trapped in their weapons, Aatrox seized the body and mind of whoever grabbed his sword instantly. He also really hates his corrupted form cuz its a mockery of what he really looked like before. He keeps killing in order to maintain that form and he can grow in size depending on how much he kills and absorb blood. So, he's just an extremely powerful, yet extremely depressed general who wants to kill everything and die in order to achieve peace for himself and his brethren. I love the character, I main him in League of Legends, glad you guys reacted to his voice lines :)
Aatroxx is the Blade. He was imprisoned after the Darkin war inside his blade by the aspect of twighlight. The sword was then picked up by a random warrior in the north. Aatroxx then took over that warriors body.
Fun fact: his heart inside of his sword you can even see this flashy stuff (it's like a heart beat)
Also any1 who touches that sword Imideantly are going to be possessed by Aatrox. And his killing everyone because he needs blood to keep that form alive.

Have to state this, but the Aspect of War.. the embodiment of combat.. picked a fight with Aatrox and was beaten so badly that the God died in the Heavens from the hit and the mortal lived. The mortal is Atreus, otherwise known as Pantheon. Pantheon still has a hint of the power of the Aspect, but the God of War is dead.
Add on fact, Tryndamere held Aatrox for a while and was able to resist being completely consumed by him. That said, he's still affected by it and his berzerker rage is really just a fraction of the power of Aatrox.
I love the dynamic of aatrox and pantheon. Both dislike the gods and have un breakable wills to their goals. When they fight it’s like an unstoppable force vs an unstoppable for 😂. And aatrox is the sword to answer your question. He takes over his wielder. (Edit) 18:20 nvm she got it.

Similar to Varus, there are 2 guy lovers being fused with Varus ( the bow ), so they are technically 3 people trap in one body.
You'll notice that Darkin has double A's in their names ( with the exception of Varus ), and an apostrophe " ' " for Void champions like Kai'sa , Cho'Gath , Rek'Sai ( with the exception of Malzahar ).

Gonna try to answer a few questions, I see a number of people have left longer comments but I can't resist as Aatrox is my main man, spent a lot of trim playing him as well as digging into his lore lol
First off yes, he was originally a "god warrior," the noblest of these soldiers even, and he lead other god warriors as their general against the largest void incursion the planet has ever seen, and won. Earned him the title "The Blade of Icathia." However they all spent a lot of time exposed to the corruption of the void and it slowly twisted them all.
When the empire they served fell, they had already begun to suffer from paranoia and reckless ambitions, so with no more emperor to serve and maintain order they started to war amongst themselves, catching mortals in the midst of their god-tier battles. So a celestial being known as the "aspect of twilight," (the one before the character known as Zoe took the mantle) gave mortals the knowledge and means to trap these god warriors, now called Darkin, and the aspect of war, known as Pantheon, gathered the armies of the mortals to lure the Darkin into a fight only for a trap to be sprung and chaining the most powerful Darkin within their own weapons, and obliterating those too weak to survive.
Aatrox was trapped within his own sword, and apparently while within this prison he is ALWAYS conscious, he cannot sleep or rest, but he has no body so cannot breath or eat, but he still feels like he must so is stuck in a constant state of perpetual suffocation and starvation. This lasts for hundreds of years at a time, leading to the breaking of his mental state.
Once someone grabs his blade though, it releases all of his willpower in a massive burst, completely annihilating the soul of the wielder and forcefully shaping their flesh to try and mimic the way he looked prior to his imprisonment, as he takes control of the body. However, being the strongest of the Darkin he's too powerful for a mortal body to contain him, so he's ever decaying unless he kills more mortals and uses their flesh and blood to sustain his vessel, usually making it larger in the process.
Whenever he's killed though, usually cause he goes too long without having any mortals to consume, he just goes back to his prison in his sword, he literally CANNOT die. After an extremely long time of doing this, constantly attempting to maintain his vessels or finding ways to kill himself, he finally snapped and thought to himself "if I just destroy EVERYTHING, if I end all life on the planet, then I MUST also then be able to die!" So without any proof of his theory he decided it was now his purpose to literally "end all things," which is the state of mind he is currently in at the time of these quotes you listened to.
A couple extras though, one of which being about how he was talking to himself, as you noticed. He has actually developed the habit of talking in these long monologues and even openly talking to himself because of an intense and engrained fear of being trapped again, being alone and without any faculties. He talks a lot and to himself as if he's his own companion to deal with this fear and essentially make as much use of his time with a body as he can.
Another tid bit of information is that in the card game LoR, Aatrox and other Darkin have been included in the "what-if" scenarios of the game. In them he actually goes around and collects his trapped comrades, other Darkin who called him General, and through the dialogue in the game you learn that he's actually an incredibly caring General, having a deep love and concern for his subordinates and he not only wants to end the world to free himself but also them. You also however see more of his hatred, a Darkin who betrayed him for example and one he refuses to forgive and wants nothing more then to "break upon her altar," as he puts it. He also has the potential of destroying this traitor Darkin, as well as defeating both Kayle and the Rune Mage, Ryze, in open combat in a 1v3, and if he were to succeed in the "what-if" conflict the world of Runeterra actually breaks apart because of the scale of the battle, effectively making his self given title of "WORLD ENDER" a legit one, he actually does have the power and capabilities to accomplish this if no one can stop him.
Finally, he is actually the best roaster in the whole game, and to see this you should check out the video "Aatrox in-game interactions," and he roast, fries, and lays out to dry more champions then any other in the game TO DATE! Some of his roasts are so harsh Riot has removed them from the game, they will no longer play in game anymore LOL Apparently the reason behind this is that the voice actor for Aatrox, Tikaram, was having so much fun getting into character and the writing team was loving his performance so much they just kept going, they just started making up ways for Aatrox to roast other champions and Tikaram simply continued to fucking KILL IT. It was a short lived trend among some champions to do it, so the team likely had some in mind already, but there seriously aren't as many champions that make fun of so many others, and so well lol

So the "demon" You see is what happens when someone gets a hold of a darkin weapon and gets their body taken over by the darkin it is technically still aatrox but only an approximation of what he actually looks like.

Aatrox IS insane, a god warrior that fought the void the save a city, no one in that war came out untouched by the whispers of the void.
And the Vengeance he's talking about is to the gods and the mortals, the aspect of Twilight helped the mortals trap the corrupted Ascended in their own weapons

Aatrox is an important amazing and depressing character. you hear a couple of the voice lines in game when you play him once (depending on the enemys and how you play and what you buy) but you can eventually hear them all if you play often enough as him.
My favorite voice lines are: Violence ... destracts from these chains. The only peace I seek... is death!
it really makes you feel for him and reinforces his goal to end all life in the hope of dying himself finally if life is over since he tried every other way.
You got a lot of the lore in the other comments. Shurima is a pretty vast and important place and i bet you are happy to hear he hails from there.

When you realize that the only reason why Aatrox screams so much is because he is terrified of not being heard, the only reason he kills is out of pure despair and in search of the slightest grim of hope that maybe someone can destroy him and his blade, and when you realize that the reason why he has so many quotes in the 3rd person is because he's afraid of being alone... such a sad character, From The strongest Hero That has been born, to a Betrayed Madman who has lost hope even in death, carried now only by his former pride...Also the thing about the “Fight or be forgotten” line is… Old Aatrox told this to his enemies. New Aatrox tells this to himself. If he stop fighting, he reverts into prison… In the dark, hungry, unable to breath, unable to scream… Just a sword, buried and… Forgotten.

They got mindfucked in the horrors of the Void and the outcome war itself; coming home but the Empire they served is gone into ruins; they don't know what to do, learned forbidden sorceries (like Xerath) and they mastered every primal magics; they lose some purpose and started to become tyrants and think they're righteous rulers of the realms and started to fight among themselves ofc their are some good Ascended left but so dumb that one of 'em really sacrificed his celestial essence or DNA that triggered their imprisonment into their own weapons.

Aatrox is the Sword and the body is the poor sap who picked up his blade.
Aatrox was a Golden God Warrior of Shurima, a Ascended. During a war with the void almost all Ascended were corrupted by the void slightly, they were cursed to hear the madding whispers of the Void. Over time 3 champions Azir, Renekton, and Nasus managed to keep control over the corrupted for a time, but after Azir dying, Renekton being imprisoned, and Nasus falling to depression over losing his brother (Renekton) the corrupted were 'let off the leash' so to speak. They fought for petty reasons Land, Disagreements, Material gain, and etc. At some point another Darkin known as Xolaani created blood magic and infused the Darkin with it with a secret plan to use the magic to stop and control the rampaging Darkin. Aatrox found out about her plot and the 2 had a civil war over it. This war risked destroying the planet so the Celestials of Targon stepped in. The Aspect of Twilight (Zoe's previous incarnation) gave mortals the power to imprison Darkin in their own weapons if they couldnt kill them.
Aatrox was in a league of his own, by the time he was the last standing Darkin he was near unstoppable until the Aspect of War (Pantheon) was sent to deal with him personally. Aatrox is known as the God Killer because during this fight he killed the ASPECT not just his body. He killed the body so hard the Celestial god itself died. He was weaked during this fight and was imprisoned after the fact. When a Darkin is in their weapon they are still aware, but have no senses, like a sensory deprivation thing. The 'Cage' is the body he has possessed, the 'Prison' is the sword. Aatrox has been free for awhile and during this time he tried to die, but NOTHING can kill him. He wants to die more than anything, but his pride as a warrior refuses to just lie down. He is deeply depressed and uses murder and slaughter to 'Hide himself in the carnage'. Aatrox is also so damn powerful he burns his host out like a battery, but he found out he can use blood magic to graft the fallen dead to his body to make himself as large and as powerful the more people he kills.
So his final plan is to cause a "End War" a war to end everything with the hope that either A. Someone or something can kill him or B. The end war also destroys him.
P.S at about the 22:20 minute mark he swaps to champion interactions (what he says when he meets other champs in the game).

Aatrox was one of the first to be granted the gift of Ascension at the end of his life. During this time, he was loyal to the Shuriman Empire and had served it for all his life. He was noble and would not hesitate to help his fellow soldiers in battle. When he Ascended, he was given a heightened role in the military. He participated in the battle against Icathia and helped drive back the Void from the region around it. Eventually, the Shuriman Empire fell. Without a leader or an enemy, the Ascended clashed with each other, bringing ruin to the rest of Runeterra. Mortals eventually began to know the clashing Ascended as the Darkin, an old Shuriman word which most closely translated to 'The Fallen'. Fearing for the fate of Runeterra, the celestial beings of Targon intervened. The Aspect of Twilight showed mortals how to bind the Darkin to their weapons. However, the Darkin did not know this, and when the Aspect of War rallied mortals behind him to fight the Darkin, Aatrox went into battle. His consciousness was bound to his battle sword and trapped in darkness. Aatrox was trapped in this darkness trying to release himself for centuries.
One day, an unknown mortal tried to wield Aatrox's sword. Aatrox quickly took over this human's body and reformed it as close to his original Ascended form as possible, but in doing so killed the body. Aatrox would eventually come to possess a variety of hosts, learning blood magic and getting better at taking over bodies, all the while trying to understand his new form and trying to escape it. He eventually realized that he could not escape his predicament.
Out of desperation, Aatrox decided that he would instead plunge the world into oblivion. Because if he could make it so everything could stop existing, then there was a chance that death could release him from his prison inside his weapon. Aatrox continues to wreak havoc across Runeterra, taking over hosts and killing all that he sees., with his ultimate goal being to take revenge on the Aspects and reach oblivion in death.

THe sheer amount of hope we all have that one of the first LEAGUE MMO expansions or storylines is the assault from the darkin. All of them. AATROX would have to be last though. Hes such a problem. A few others would be good but the big boi is a serious issues

so league players are complaining that riot has been really lazy about their lore and champions lately. we had viego, whose whole summer event was botched. we have nilah, k’sante who don’t really do much in the lore. it’s good that arcane has shown a new audience that this game used to be so good. league of legends was fun at one time. it’s a damn shame what it has become now. i hope riot sees this video and realise that maybe they should put more effort into the lore and new champions.
The darkin were shuriman ascended that got touched by the void in the war against Icathia. At first they were kept under control but then the whole Azir and Xerath stuff happened and the empire fell. So with no one to keep them under control they gave in to the voices. Then they learned blood magic to morph their bodies so they could live forever.
The aspects noticed the darkin were wreaking havoc on runeterra. The aspect of twillight gave the mortals the methods and tools to trap them. So they were summoned all at once in one place and a lot of them were sealed away forever in the chalicar (Sivir's weapon). But some of them managed to escape, and were later trapped in their own weapons.
Those darkin that were trapped in their own weapons can still come back if a mortal tries to wield the weapon. The darkin then takes control of the body. But most of the time the body can't stand such power. That's why aatrox says things like "this decaying flesh...". He must constantly kill people to use blood magic to renew his current body until he finds a stronger vessel.
He himself considers Tryndamere and Atreus (Pantheon's human vessel) worthy bodies. Tryndamere and his kinsmen were ambushed and slaughtered in an instant by Aatrox, but Tryndamere managed to stand against him. He sustained injuries from the darkin blade, that will later give him the ability to use blood magic too.
Pantheon, Aatrox and Aurelion Sol are the three characters that are very angry against the celestials, for being messed up by them.
Kayn is a character that is wielding the Darkin scythe known as Rhaast. He manages to keep him under control, so he isn't completely lost (you can see in his splash art that only his arm looks like has fallen to the darkin).
Varus in the other hand, has completely control of the body, but is fighting inside against the will of the two humans.
In the wiki of league there is a whole article about darkins. There you can see all the known darkins. There is even a darkin balista that got control of a chicken body.
Once Aatrox was one of the god warriors. He had a holy form with bright wings like dawn. He was a justice person. After his emperors died, he had to fight against the others that he called brothers and sisters. In the end he was betrayed by Aspect of twilight and mortals sealed his heart in his blade. He has suffered in “THE CAGE” for many thousand years. “The breath I cannot take plagues me.

i agree that more games need to have voice overs or just that foreboding feeling as you approach the boss destiny 2 kinda is like that in raids through every encounter the bosses generally talk to you and when you get to them they give a brief speech or talk throughout the fight its cool

He also cannot die, caus if that humanoid form dies, he is sealed back in sword until someone picks it up again, (where he cant choking endlessly, cannot see, doesnt have limbs, etc. Best read his short story the cage)

So aatrox is my favorite character he is part of a race called darkin they are demonic souls usually trapped inside weapons I believe those who wield them become extremely violent and powerful aatrox is the oldest darkin yet I believe my favorite lines are "I am not a king I am not a god I am worse" "I AM AATROX I AM THE WORLD ENDER"
Aatrox is a warrior God raised up by other gods to fight against the Void, was corrupted by repeated exposure to the Void, betrayed by the Gods not corrupted by the Void, sealed inside his own sword, and left in what is equivalent to a sensory deprivation chamber for thousands of years. The only way he can sense the outside world is when someone is in contact with his sword-prison, so he uses blood magic to seize control of that poor unfortunate soul's body and remodel it into a crude approximation of his original body. However, his remodeling also means that his host body is in a constant state of decay, and in order to sustain it, Aatrox needs blood to fuel his blood magic. Hence, he goes on a rampage of wanton slaughter, all the while seeking vengeance against those that wronged him, the Aspects, as well as the ultimate destruction of the world of Runeterra, so that he can be free from his imprisonment wiyhin his own sword, as well as his own death. Aatrox has specific beef with the Aspect of War, one of his uncorrupted battle brothers who betrayed him and had a direct hand in his sealing, who currently resides in Pantheon, and the Aspect of Change, aka The Trickster, who taught mortals the ritual to bind the Darkin in either their own weapons or constructs meant to contain them. The Aspect of Change currently resides in the League champion, Zoey. Aatrox also has beef with one of the other Darkin, who taught all Darkin the basics of Blood Magic, with the intent of using that to control them, but I don't remember her name, only that she uses two bloodletter hand sickles in the shape of crescent moons to fight.

what yall NEED to do is go back to voicelines of fiddlesticks ( context) he steals last words of his victims and repeats them as to try and sound human to lure his prey OR he plays with the worse memories and fears of the person he is talking too and the actor doesnt use auto tune ( or very little for some voice lines im not sure ) but his voice is SCARY TO THE BONE ... a little teaser so you know what i mean by my explenation a little better when he meets jinx he shouts: jinx, all your fault ALL YOUR FAULT ( when vi screamed at jinx) but he has a lot more and its amazing :D

You are clos trapped in the sword not the body. The body you see in the video is just an amalgamation basically some Manny Bodies put together to have that for so he can wield himself in battle. He was good originaly. A warrior ascended of Shurima. His ascended for was one of an angel. Radiating light. He was loved by his people. But he fought the void and then got corrupted. Then the gods traped him in the sword cuz they couldn't kill him.

I know in WoW C'thun had some whispers in your ear as you were in the AQ raid on your way to him. Stuff like "Your friends will betray you..." "You will.. die..." and so on.
Presumably zoe showed mortals how to trap the darkin. The darkin were god warriors of shurima before they became corruputed when fighting against the void 23:00. Once they became enraged afterwards but calmed down at least until azir died. then that is when they needed to be sealed. Now the darkin consume any flesh that touches their weapon, corrupts and controls them. Which is why he becomes massive. he is just a mass of decaying flesh he has accumulated. So yes, aatroxx is now the sword, but he wasn't always even as a darkin. He seeks battle so that he might find someone capable of killing him. Presumably he has tried himself but has failed. So until he finds peace and silence he will keep marching towards death.

Just to clarify, zoe(the trickster), and pantheon are not gods per se. They are known as aspects, and have a constellation representing them. They are worshipped like gods in Targon. But, they are actually extra-dimensional beings that want to enter ours but need a medium to do so. So they deceive humans and infect them to take over their body and mind. When aatroxx killed pantheon, the aspect died and the stars disappeared from the sky, but the man lived ;) Now as far as we know, but not too sure, pantheon may continue to wander and fight aatroxx every now and then, possibly keeping him in check while still wielding the aspects power by sheer force of will.
zoe has been known to mess around. It is unclear whether she does it cuz its funny or cuz she has another motive. But, she has trapped the darkin, stolen fiddlesticks(demon king of kings) key that can release joy(demon king), teases aurelion sol(space creation dragon) because his arrogance is annoying to her or she thinks its funny.
Another note the void comes from a place ruled by the watchers, possibly the greatest threat to all of runeterra. The celestials, like bard and soraka, built targon and shurima and all of runeterra so that eventually humans or beings strong enough to defeat them may appear. Periodically, they aid or push in attempt to produce strong warriors, like shurima. the purpose of the void is to consume and gain knowledge of the world. Occasionally, they may persuade or entice a person to open a rift to their world, like lissandra. They need a massive rift to be able to enter. The darkins were created by the war caused by a rift that wasn't even large enough for one to come through.
Also, weird thought, aurelion also hates targon and the aspects but they have stars that represent them and their life yet he probably made those stars...
Now, the watchers were waken up by a scream, which might elude to the 1st scream of the universe caused by the 1st of ten, end of men. So they might not even be the actual endgame threat.
Ramon Tikaram knocked this voice out of the park. The range of emotion in Aatrox's lines - not to mention how poetic he is - is just incredible.

The Darkin originally were shurima's Ascended (Humans that ascend through the solar disk of shurima and become God-warriors like nasus or renekton) and they fought the forces of the void before shurima fell. Once they came back from the war they were f'd up mentally and the death of azir just caused this PTSD to worsen, and they started fighting each other for territory and trying to get more power. They were so powerful that they couldnt be killed and the only means to make them stop was to trap them in objects (Varus is the bow, Aatrox is the sword and there's many more in riot's card game) and Aatrox is so angry and frustrated cuz he couldnt do anything, literally anything for centuries. No Vision, no smell, no sounds. Just oblivion. And since the darkins learned blood magic, they can possess people that wield them and transform them (reason why Aatrox refers to the body as a 'filthy form of flesh') but they cant achieve the original form they once had.
(Fun fact: pantheon fought Aatrox and managed to sever his arm, but Aatrox killed pantheon, the pantheon we know is Atreus and he was once the host for the War Aspect [Also known as Pantheon] that's why he has that big scar in his torso. And Aatrox is the only Champion we know that killed an aspect in runeterra)
So in big short. Aatrox was an ascended warrior who stood against the Void. Because of the whisper of the void and another person Ascended started a civil war so they were called darkins. Aspect of Twilight taught humans how to trap them in their weapons so they did. Now Aatrox wanting to be free plans of destroying the world in hope of either finding someone powerful enough to kill him and or he hopes that if he destroys everything he will cease from existence because if he finishes his work, destroys the world his existence then will be meaningless. He also wants to punish everyone for trapping him in the sword.
