"The woman who wanted her son back sacrificed her ability to create life" "The boy who desired to see his mom again sacrificed whom he loved the most" "The man that wanted to see the future of the country grow sacrificed his way of seeing the future" Alphonse : "Humankind cannot gain anything without firstgiving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only truth."
Dwarf in the Flask said Truth takes away something precious from humans so they won't be boastful. But, at the end of the story, his interpretation is wrong. Though Izumi Curtis failed to revive her child and lost her organs, she managed to gain Elric brothers as disciples and developed relationship comparable to mother and child. Roy Mustang lost her eyesight but managed to gain greater vision for not only his country but for others as well like reviving Ishval. Alphonse Elric lost his body to feel warm but became grateful for living the life itself and gave hope (warmth) to not only himself but others as well. Edward lost his leg to stood upon and his only remaining family but realized his arrogance and received help from others while giving help as well. In the end, he gave up his alchemy to give himself an opportunity to become something greater. Ironically, while they lost something to the Truth, that very experience became a catalyst of pushing themselves beyond limit. On the other hand, Dwarf in the Flask try not to lose anything and used someone else's sacrifice (Philosopher's stones) and steal their outcome, resulting his own demise. I think what Truth was trying to say it was this: "Trust yourself and march forward to become something greater. However, you are not almighty thus there will be many difficulties and hardships on the way that might cause you pain and suffering. But, do not ignore them but face them and overcome them."
@@garammaru3272 Very wise and well stated. The Dwarf in the Flask was created from a human, and he almost made a connection to humanity, but in the end failed to recognize that it was his human qualities that were his source of strength, and instead of understanding and mastering it, he discarded it. He chose instead to covet cold knowledge of nature and sacrifice others in his stead, as he lacked the self confidence that can only stem from mastering the human condition. He gave nothing of himself to the world and others, and only took. He created nothing, only stole or copied. This reflected in the blankness of his portal, as all the knowledge and power he had was not truly his own. In God's eyes, it's as if he never lived or existed at all. In the end, God told him that he already knew the answer of what he did wrong, he knew from the beginning, but he ran from truth instead of accepting it. The Dwarf spent all the story trivializing human lives, a hypocrisy that he puts up despite knowing that only through humans can alchemy be performed, and only human souls can form a philosopher's stone, the very substance that sustains him. The story is a humanist one, one that rejects the Dwarf's pessimism and affirms that not only is true power of natural creation rested in humanity, but that our connections to each other can create miracles that transcend the bounds of the natural world as well.

The translation given in the description of the video isn't really accurate. Here's a better one (translated by someone who takes latin): Sleep children, Sleep soundly together, in your warm, comfy and good bed. I watch over you, always you, I will always be by your side, even alone, don't worry, I am here by your side. In the realm of sleep, In a field of flowers, sleep children, Sleep soundly with me. (This part is after Hohenheim left for those of you that didnt realise) Don't worry, children, Even if father is not here, don't worry, children, Your mother is here. I watch over you, always you, I will always be by your side, children, without feeling, Go quickly to sleep. (This part is after Trisha dies) In their bedroom, without mother. In their bedroom, till the day arrives.
Well, it has been quite a while since you wrote this comment, but the promised neverland's Isabella's Lullaby is on a whole other level. It gives you this feeling of fear, love and also agonism.
So I don’t know if anyone else noticed, but the images for the three tracks, all the cover art feature Ed in (what presumes to be) the process of a composer. Like the image shown in this ost is Ed thinking of a melody, the music being created in his head and him hearing the sounds around him. The second image is Ed next to a piano with the sheet music he’s written, possibly testing out the sound he’s created in his head and fixing the kinks here and there. The final image shows Ed conducting his work triumphantly in a sort of concert hall, his music becoming a reality and being able to be heard by hundreds of people. So, going by all this information, I thought of a mini-head canon. All of the music featured in the anime is “composed” by Ed. All the action osts, the memory osts and the calming background Resembool osts are all done by Ed. I imagine Ed doing all these tracks with all of the memories he’s had and putting the feelings and emotions he had into music. Like Resembool being home to him, so whenever a scene shows Ed and Al in Resembool, there’s almost always a calming, homely melody in the background. Whenever something of intense importance or emotions happens, the music always mirrors that. A perfect example of Ed’s feelings being put in that kind of importance of music is the ost you are currently listening to. I imagine Ed composing this with all the memories he and Al had with their mother, (Trisha being an incredibly prominent character in the series) and earning an incredibly harmoniously beautiful ost. A sort of requiem from Ed and Al to their mother you could say. EDIT : Wow, it’s been 2 years and people still enjoy this idea! How lovely! I’ve never gotten this many likes on a comment before, thank you all so much!!

I watched FMAB with my lil brother and i had to hold back my tears so many times especially in the Hughes scene and in the flashback of ed and al‘s mother.
I watch the show with my little brother when I was about 9 10 years old and it was a very intense show at times I even had to hold back my own tears and when a theme song would come up me and my brother would sing and dance and sometimes I would find the gory images too much to watch that I would watch it anyway because it's beautiful in a way
The second piece I ever learned on piano, my teachers doubted I could master such a beautiful piece. Four months later I performed in front of 200 people. My parents wept, my teachers gasped, my hands trembled. I played with no mistakes. I went home, put in my earphones, went to sleep to the Lullaby.
this is the only anime ive rewatched, ever. Ive been watching anime for 6 years and im yet to find any media, anime or otherwise to replicate the feelings i have for this show.
There's a special place in my heart for FMA:B. I must have watched, like, 80 series' already, FMA was my 3rd anime. Ever since I watched it, I've been looking for something equal, a replacement, because I couldn't forget. While I couldn't find something that would make me forget, I did find something that gave me the same feeling of loss as when FMA:B ended.
Aska2468 Have you tried Hunter X Hunter? It's pretty great, and it is personally my second favourite anime after FMAB. While their respective stories are vastly different, both series tend to give off a similar "feel" of sorts; that, and they are both masterfully written and executed.
littlejune131 I considered it but I don't really have time for anime with so many episodes right now. Also, one of my favorites, besides FMA:B, is Steins;Gate, it's an amazing, perfectly executed story with great characters.
Giglupuff I checked it out and, while I normally don't like mech anime, this one was great but I've yet to finish the 2nd season. Although, Lelouch's behavior sometimes got on my nerves, especially in the 1st season.
Really. At least your mom had a lullaby. My mom from Halling's hometown never had a lullaby that she sang to me. Please Ed. What did my mom look like? Was she nice like yours was? What was her name?
Trisha's Lullaby is such a haunting title, both with and without the context of what happens in the series. Also fun fact: this song plays when Ed and Al start their journey (shown in episode 2) and when they finally finish said journey and come back to Resembool (episode 64)
Oooh. Thanks for that information! I’m writing a degree about FMAB music and I’m in the middle od rewatching the series to make some music-plot related notes
I've watched death note , evangelion , one piece but I've never felt so sad for an anime to end as I felt for this. I think I travelled along with Ed and Al , could understand mustang , and appreciate how they adapted like I knew then personally. Amazing character development , hats off to the music team and the animators ofc. Hope this was 640 episodes long because it's way too good to end. But again good things never last.
I have a much stronger connection to the original than to Brotherhood, but damn... When Winry was walking through her house to meet the brothers outside and this song came on... That whole scene wrecked me. Manly tears of joy were shed.
it's funny how you name the first anime "original" while the real story lies in FMAB.... You can consider the first FMA as some sort of filler, of great quality tho.
@@thedamntrain yes in attack on titan apart from eren pre 139 all character especially in the rumbling are pretty much boring but the first fullmetal alchemist has characters with a great philosophical depth such as lust, hohenheim, ed, roy, scar and izumi
@@thedamntrain in fact I am comparing them with the characters of the first fullmetal alchemist about edward second this logic also eren has the same mentality as every protagonist shonen "I must protect my precious friends" the difference with edward is that he has not had a great development as character but has become just a plot device. lust was a great antagonist and had a great development as a character same thing for izumy in the first fullmetal she is not just the mary issue but she was also a tragic character. about aot grisha yes he is a tragic character but beyond that? and always been someone's pawn even the closure of the character I don’t like he says to zeke to stop eren when he immediately gives it the fonder and telling "you have to dominate this power to avenge your mother" this makes no sense. about zeke he is a great character one of the best but he has a very bad closure that is he already had a reason to stop eren after the talk with grisha but he remained inside the paths without ever trying to escape even his death was useless even if eren had lost control of the founder the order to destroy the world would still have remained as in the second season with the smiling titan I think that isayama no longer knew what to do with his character. reiner for me after the rumbling arc in addition to becoming useless is becoming boring, he did not play any particular role for eren o for the plot and his character closes with him snorting the letters of historia. About levi he has a better closure but i think he is the same level of roy in terms of writing. maybe I'll be the only one to think so but at the end of the manga I started to hate almost all the characters which didn't happen to me with the other manga(Sorry for my bad english)
@@thedamntrain AOT characters are very basic lol. Eren is the only one who has a little bit of depth but even that is not much. Rest of the main characters basically act as NPCS
Shounen? Drama? Comedy? Romance? Well, shit! One is all. All is one. All is Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is all. You'd literally miss whole of your life.. uhh maybe 70%, no too little, maybe 85% of your life if you were not able to watch this series. Such a masterpiece. HANDS DOWN!

@@thedamntrainUmm I very much disagree, you can pick a side between 03 and fmab but you cannot call any of these adaptations or the original manga a generic shounen. There are many themes in all three of the material which sharply differ from the generic shounen, of the time, atleast.

I remember the years in mid 2000 till 2010 when FMA was being published. The big 3 (Naruto, OP and Bleach) were in their peak. But nothing felt as sweet as the monthly releases of FMA. Nothing will ever compare to this masterpiece for me. The characters and their development, the pacing, the mysteries. Truly, one of a kind.
*People who thinks FMA and FMAB is overrated* 40% didn't even watch the anime 20% dropped it for no reason 30% was distracted or didn't take seriously 10% this anime is not for them
I've been a part of anime fandom since 1994 (back in the VHS fansub days, if you guys remember!) I ahve atched thousands of hours of hundreds of anime. And Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, is without question, the best I have ever seen. The characters and plot are all woven together in a perfect tapestry of worldbuilding, character development, and pure emotion. Never fails to blow me away every time I see it.
I was on a vacation road trip when I randomly came across this song. When I tell you my first impression was “wow, this is beautiful” and I kept repeating it over and over and saw where it came from “Full Metal Alchemist” and so that’s when I started watching this amazing show. I come here when I’m sad, recently just had my first breakup and it’s killing me man, but I’m doing my best!
@Daka yeah bro, take care it’s lethal but you can’t let a girl bring you down like this. Stay strong and focus on yourself. I hope you and that girl eventually work out. If not and you separate them just do what makes you happy, eventually a girl will come by and will love you. It’s part of life, you have a break up and get stronger. We can do this man. But if you’re not talking about the breakup then yeah, this song is beautiful.
I was introduced to this show in December of 2019. I was a Junior in high school and I felt attached to this song. I would play it when studying psychology or chemistry. This was also around the time that I was introduced to Death Note and Cowboy Bebop. I was in tears with those 2 shows and fmab. Emotions are high for this song that's for sure.
I got introduced to JoJo also in December 2019 but I got introduced to FMA in May 2021, both of them are absolutely amazing series and they both made me cry my eyes out multiple times lol
It's a good one. I like this one and Lapis Philosophorum a lot. Well, and some others, but you didn't get to them yet. Actually, I really like the first opening too. The first and fourth. Ohoho. So awesome.
Sadly, the 2nd opening is not nearly as good. It's a decent song/animation, but it's just rather bland compared to the others. And the third opening is...different. I disliked it at first (mainly due to the singer's voice), but now I've kind of gotten used to it. Plus, I love the animation that goes with it, which helps. >:) *BUT THE FOURTH OPENING AND ENDING ARE STILL MY FAVORITES.*
Hearing this always takes me back to fma, I've never been able to find a show as emotionally moving as it since I've watched it. No other show has compared in terms of the feeling of loss I felt when it was over. Best 64 episodes of anything I've ever watched.
I haven't even watched FMAB or FMA (not enough time), I discovered this listening to Isabella's Lullaby, and I've listened to this non stop for a few days. I've never doubted the quality of the anime, but man am I curious now
This ness RIGHT HERE!…..😭😭 Beautiful I JUST finished FMAB last night and had to hear this again. Amazing how the themes of Both series are totally different but hit the same! Amazing series even by 2024s standards. FMAB came out in 2009!! 🤯
I after I finished FMA I got really depressed about how sad the ending was and wanted more ( I didn’t know there was a movie). Then I watched FMA brotherhood in 4 days while being in school. I just rewatched it and this anime is my favorite by far. Everything about it I like. Even the dumb original.
I’m sorry but that is a really dumb statement. The OVA related kept a minor character, the snake chimaera girl, alive for way too long, and many thing go in explained.

There is. I just didn't want to type it out.
Someone +1'd this until the name of the Fourth Hokage. My life is complete.
The translation given in the description of the video isn't really accurate. Here's a better one (translated by someone who takes latin):
Sleep children,
Sleep soundly together, in your warm,
comfy and good bed.
I watch over you, always you,
I will always be by your side, even alone, don't worry,
I am here by your side.
In the realm of sleep,
In a field of flowers, sleep children,
Sleep soundly with me.
(This part is after Hohenheim left for those of you that didnt realise)
Don't worry, children,
Even if father is not here, don't worry, children,
Your mother is here.
I watch over you, always you,
I will always be by your side, children, without feeling,
Go quickly to sleep.
(This part is after Trisha dies)
In their bedroom, without mother.
In their bedroom, till the day arrives.
I can't stop crying
Help,,,,heart,,,,hurts,,,,,

Don't be elitist. Both are good
So I don’t know if anyone else noticed, but the images for the three tracks, all the cover art feature Ed in (what presumes to be) the process of a composer.
EDIT :
Wow, it’s been 2 years and people still enjoy this idea! How lovely! I’ve never gotten this many likes on a comment before, thank you all so much!!

Aska2468 I might check it out. Thanks for the offer. :)
littlejune131 +Aska2468 Check out Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, I believe you both will like it as much as you love FMA:B. :)
Giglupuff I checked it out and, while I normally don't like mech anime, this one was great but I've yet to finish the 2nd season. Although, Lelouch's behavior sometimes got on my nerves, especially in the 1st season.

@@thedamntrain even the attack on titan characters are almost all simple I would say more monster parasyte or psycho pass
@@thedamntrain bruh fmab characters are much deeper than aot characters (except Levi)
