Jeff Bezos has said that the best investment that he has made in his life was buying The Washington Post. There was a writer for WaPo that wrote a negative story about Amazon for a different Newspaper and he was fired that week from WaPo. Letting everyone low key know if you write negatively about Jeff Bezos or Amazon you would loss your job. Also meaning that writing glowing News about him could get you ahead.
im starting my ow pod cast tbh no selling out nun of it for producers by producers and i guess i would like if you can come on for little chit chit about this because i think it goes deeper than this
Cymatics has been having troubles since they started to release $97 sample packs on a 3-week basis. They claimed they sold out and had massive success, but as a web programmer, I know how easy it is to manipulate sales percentages.
I knew they were starting to struggle when they started laying off sample makers for their kits. They would pay a salary of $500+ per sample from sample makers to put in their kits for "royalty free use". Ik because a close friend of mines was doing this for a while to get by
Cymatics has been making Hip Hop samples and they’re lowkey better than the recycled bs ProducerGrind would sell. The buyout definitely has more to do w the interviews and vlogs
Now with this era of small producers rising and making those vlogs/cook-ups typa videos i feel like there s a place for everybody. 8:37 isn't this pretty much the same as Cymatics putting out their "Deja Vu" plugin for free? Now everybody who use(d) (and those who wanted to buy) Halftime and Gross Beat don't need to anymore because Cymatics has their very own replica.
Not necessarily because they're not marketing it or using any branding to make people think that it was in collaboration with or an affiliate of. What you're talking about is just basic competition. They make something, we make a slightly different version of that thing at a different price point or maybe even free. That is not inherently the same as saying in collaboration with or alluding to some kind of connection.
As someone who's worked a Cymatics for a few months, I can attest that it's weird over there and Steven is the one who makes it weird. First off, you have to work in his basement (cause bro doesn't want to rent out an office for his employees) which is already a red flag, then on top of that cause of his HOA he makes you park at a community center next to his neighborhood to get picked up instead of parking at his house. Bro is really great at marketing and presenting as this charismatic personality for the camera, but is actually really bad at communicating effectively with anyone who doesn't exclusively watch and glaze Gary V. Not gonna say the Cymatics team doesnt do great work because they do, but the quality of the product itself (not the ads or digital packaging) has nothing to do with Steven. He's procuring producer grind because it's a growing podcast/vlogging platform that far outshines the one he failed to do at Cymatics in-house (pun intended) a couple years back. It's a double edged sword cause I do think it could be a benefit for the producer community to have good, informative content around the craft and industry but know that Steven's intent is do "economic hits" on as many aspects of the industry that he can get his hands on with minimal effort.
Before Cymatics and Producer Grind, there was Team Hitz. Best soundbanks of the early 2010’s. Salute Superstar O, Vybe Beats and Johnny Juliano. Pioneers.

10:39, I actually don’t think its too far fetched to make the same conclusion that Busy made. Watch Steven’s interview that he did on Producergrind, he literally used the precepts of the Economic Hitman to get ahead and to blow up to what he is today. Now, do I think he has malicious intent, no, but I think his eagerness to acquire procudergrind will indirectly and unknowingly have a negative hit on what Producergrind has been as a brand. That’s just me tho only time will tell how it unfolds.

Producers need to learn how to create their own samples, is all I'm saying. I mean, you got plenty of drums already, free plugins always coming out (or you can buy'm instead of sample packs). You can evern seperate stems now with AI and get drums, chop and mix them your way (stay away from long loops and melodies unless you know how to really twist them). In fact, you can get free AI melodies that you can clean up well if you improve your skills.
Cymatics make some great samples, their loops are solid & being royalty-free is a huge plus. My issue is they seem to only focus on big production suites which are set at insane prices. I personally can't afford them (especially after USD conversion) The only time they seem to release smaller, affordable packs - you can't even preview the pack because it's a mystery kit?! Even the latest mystery offering is "Legacy" which is just a bunch of samples they've already released?! I think that's a joke.
BWB is correct, they have been doing it from the very beginning as their whole business started from ripping off music that was popular at the time, not with their own original sound, they would just straight up copy the music that was popular at that time and sell the parts of how to make it. And they still do it to this day.
I did not knew this stuff. Cymatics has been on my sample packs since 2016 I guess, and I've loved their samples, I still do and use them a lot because they're good, but Ive seen that Cymatics has been making A LOT of moves, it seems kind of weird, but if Steven is the one making things weird and he is being sketchy as I'm seeing, that's disappointing.
