If Pink Floyd is your favorite band, you absolutely HAVE to watch their tribute to Pink Floyd's HIGH HOPES. Watch the "End of an Era" live version. You can thank me later. :)
I'm glad you liked it. Your observations are interesting, with which I completely agree. Nightwish is not an ordinary band, and you will notice that the people attracted to their music are of a unique diversity: effectively from all corners of the world, metalheads and non-metalheads, from all generations. I hope you will continue to explore this unique treasure of diamonds and pearls, so I am a new subscriber. All the best, from Romania!
But I think there is one thing that all or let's say the most of the nightwish fans have in common Gabe. As far as I can tell, I have never met a rude, agressive Nightwish fan, even when drunk.
Tuomas Holopainen is the keyboardist, co-founder, leader, guru, composer, lyricist, arranger, and producer of 95% of the band's music....he's the Metal Mozart, with Floor, the Valkyrie Goddess......they've been around since 1996
Ha! Love surprising ppl w The Army! We don't mess around, and we are millions! Marko plays Warwick basses, Emppu plays a custom ESP EV-1. Go ahead, gents...ask us anything... Keyboardist and composer Tuomas Holopainen (pron: TOO-oh-Moss) is very proud of this song's chorus! Nightwish songs are poems, stories, lessons...lyric captions available on almost every video...
It's so much fun to watch you two react to Nightwish. Many of us already know what's coming and remember what it was like when we first heard these songs. So watching you experience all that is a joy. And there is a lot more to discover! I can listen to Nightwish all day, every day. There's so much variation in their music, it never gets boring. Looking forward to your next reaction, regards from the Netherlands.
Couldn't agree more. I found them 2 1/2yrs ago and listen to them more than I should...every day. Happy that there are so many videos to see. So many CDs for trips to the store and trips 2,300 miles away.
enjoying the reaction, thanks from Colorado. have seen the best live since old here and in euroland. top 5 best ROCK ever. Prove me wrong. Best band since Pink Floyd, for music, lyrics and stellar musicians.
Nightwish makes me feel overwhelmed by the TALENT! They really have songs for every mood you are in. Nice reaction guys, it's a joy to see you enjoying 😊
Another great reaction guys! A good observation that Nightwish are a metal band for the thinking man. No matter if the song is long or short there is always so many layers to enjoy. I think you would like the heavier side of Nightwish. Try “Romanticide from the same concert or if you want to hear Floor growl then “Yours Is An Empty Hope” live from Wembley Arena.
Great reaction guys! Nightwish army Romanian 🇷🇴 division is here. Try "High hopes" next time. Rock on 🤟. PS: Floor it's the third singer in Nightwish history.
You can't have enough of Nightwish, haven't had yet for the past 25 years 😊 welcome to the journey of the best band there is. After a few songs from this concert still and you want to watch the whole concert... it's one of the best. Nightwish take on Pink Floyds High Hopes, check that out, concert from 2005. Greetings from Finland where Nightwish is from.🤘
Nightwish has something for everyone. Whether it be the talent or the deeper lyrics. Then the different styles. Pop,Rock, metal, scores, instrumentals, theatre, tributes. This is music for the mind, body and soul. Not just the ears. The deeper you go down the Nightwish rabbit hole. The more you understand this band is lightning in a bottle.
This is that kind of band that there's gonna be people who, afterwards, someone says something to them like: "Did you like it? I looked over there a couple of times and you were just kind of standing there staring"...And their answer is gonna be: "Dude, I was stunned!"
Feel the need to point out after your comments about this feeling like a movie, that Nightwish made a rock-opera movie named Imaginarium from the album of the same name, which Storytime is a part of said album. Worth watching if you can find it.
Nightwish has so many facets musically, every song is different with unexpected twists and turns - and incredible melodies, they call the main songwriter (and founder) Tuomas the "Metal Mozart." Just to give you an idea of some of the band's variety, I highly suggest some of my favorites (all live with Floor): From the Wacken 2013 concert: Romanticide, Ghost River, Amaranth, Last Ride of the Day, Song Of Myself; FROM the Wembley 2015 concert: Shudder Before The Beautiful, 7 Days To The Wolves, Nemo, My Walden (featuring multi-instrumentalist Troy on Irish pipes who is the 6th member of the band), While Your Lips Are Still Red, Yours Is An Empty Hope (Floor growls), and The Poet And The Pendulum (research the background before you listen to this masterpiece!). FROM the Tampere 2015 concert: Sleeping Sun and The Islander; FROM the Buenos Aires 2019 concert: I Want My Tears Back, Dead Boy's Poem, and Elan. FROM the Hellfest 2022 concert: Tribal and How's The Heart
A great reaction guys. And your right. It's a shame that the culture here in America is so shallow. With pop and hip hop as the mainstream music, too many people are missing out on real music. And Nightwish is definitely real music. We need the army to grow in the states.
I first discovered Nightwish by watching the entire Wacken 2013 experience. My favs from that venue were: Ghost Love Score, Story Time, Romanticide and Ghost River. You'll have fun finding your own favs, and from many more venues. They truly are an amazing band!
Can’t wait to see you react to “Song of Myself” from this same show and hope you’ll also react to their Pink Floyd tribute “High Hopes”- my two favorite Nightwish Songs
Next should really be "Romanticide" live from this same show. Basically, every song they performed here is great. You don't have to move on to a different live performance right away, there has to be a hundred different live Nightwish songs out there on TH-cam recorded from a concert from somewhere in the world. So, get a few songs from here before moving on to Wembley, or Tampere, or Buenos Aries, etc... The road is long, but oh so worth it. Enjoy...
Fantastic job, Since your a Pink Floyd fan then in 2005 they did a tribute to Pink Floyd 's song "High Hopes" brace your self on this is going to blow your mind , Marco the bassist sings on this one .
NightWish Army Wisconsin Chapter here. Glad you enjoyed this song. It is my Favorite song, followed by Poet and the Pendulum and Greatest Show on Earth. Poet and the Pendulum is a VERY deep song, best appreciated if you read the NightWish open letters first to get the background story. Have fun guys! 🤘
Yes Storytime is my favourite song. I’ve been listening to Nightwish since the album Once was released so that’s all three singers Tarja, Anette and Floor and ever since she started singing with her first band After Forever you could tell that Floor Jansen was destined for greatness and now that she’s with Nightwish she has found the band that she was always meant to sing with and show the world what an amazing singer she is. Believe it or not many people in her own country, The Netherlands, didn’t know who she was until she appeared on a talent show on Dutch television and of course blew them away. If you want a true Floor Jansen goosebumps moment then you need to check out Shoemaker, the end of that song is incredible.
Great reaction guys, I'm here for it. We're ALL going to get pleasure watching you enjoy and experience what we all have. [Nightwish Army - Derbyshire Division, UK]
Nightwish is a band to sip and savor, enjoying all aspects of the music. Most American music is like taking a shot. Shots can be good but other drinks are made to be enjoyed and savored. And as others have said, check out their tribute to Pink Floyd with High Hopes.
I am late to your reaction, but the best review of this band. I have been following Nightwish since the late 90s and a metal head and agree with everything you said!!!
I know exactly what you mean. I'm a huge Nightwish fan, but I don't listen to their albums very often. I have them all on vinyl but... I prefer them live, so I play this DVD more than all albums together, even the live Album is more often on rotation. Maybe the fact, that I was at this show has something to do with it. It was a magical night, you know, one of those nights were everything falls right into place as it should be. It is in my top 3 concerts list, besides Queen in 1986 and Tool. Floor actually made me cry, a fact that has never happened at a concert before or since then. It was the line "my flower withered between the pages two and three" from the song "Nemo" and I just started to cry. For the rest of the show I was basicly standing there with a wide opened mouth. I remember my jaw hurting the next day, from that. Greets from Germany guys! Keep it up!
They are definitely a band you want to experience live! The video feels so huge I can't imagine being there. Your comment about the drummer is 100% he just hammers and the guitars especially the bass just comes through. Wow!
UK Army popping in for a little story. Great reaction, watch how all the band also truly enjoy the show apart from The poet and the pendulum and Dead boys poem that have deep meaning they are always smiling
3rd singer, not second but you guys are awesome, Poet and the Pendulum, Greatest Show on Earth, Song of myself, Yours is an empty hope (the one with growls). One of my favourites is actually Dark chest of wonders (probably an unpopular choice) but honestly, almost everything I've heard is an absolute joy. Nightwish are a frequent listen in my car on long drives along with Eluveitie. Thanks for this, best wishes from UK
Amazing reactions men!! I love it. Enjoy the rest of the Nightwish songs men. I think you would love theseee!!! Byee from Argentina - ROMANTICIDE - SONG OF MYSELF (harder than the rest) - LAS RIDE OF THE DAY - MY WALDEN - DEAD BOY'S POEM - SHOEMAKER - THE POET AND THE PENDULUM - THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH
Hi guyz...Greetz from Germany....after "storytime",next step for you to react is "yours is a empty hope"...after it, i think their heaviest song" song of myself"....Nightwish has sale over 30 million albums...two ex band members has been change..the drummer, and the bass guitarist...some people say, that the drummer was the student of the actually drummer...interesting..but I don't know that for real...for myself, ive see Nightwish next time on 12th . June, in Gelsenkirchen🤟...and guyz, ich will make for you some little videos and photos from that genius gig...
Hello again, guys. This was another really fun reaction to Nightwish live. This entire Wacken 2013 is legendary, although there have been many epic Nightwish concerts between 2013 including Wembley 2015, Mexico City 2015, Masters of Rock 2015, Tampere 2015, Buenos Aires 2018, Hellfest 2022, and the Deichbrand 2022 festival. But you are doing great by working your way through this Wacken 2013 show first. By the way, FYI, this concert was released on both DVD and on a High Definition Blu-ray version. Unfortunately, although the audio is great on both, the high-def video on the Blu-ray was recorded at 24 frames per second instead of the actual camera speed of 25 FPS. This causes that version of the videos from this concert to have the video running slightly out of sync with the audio. Both your videos so far have been correct. Fortunately, Nightwish Arena completely remastered the entire setlist in high-definition video at the CORRECT SPEED. Here's the link that will take you to that version of every video from this concert from start to finish. Enjoy. th-cam.com/play/PLexzLA11Cst1G4E0D61rAnWvnDF4zIz8M.html
Actually, Floor is just a hair over 6' tall (183cm = about 6'- 1/4") so about 6'-4" to 6'-5" in her heels. Yes, she can growl but very rarely does it with Nightwish. Try her former band Revamp (Disdain at Graspop festival) if you want to hear a bit of angry sounding Floor.
Great reaction. Look forward to discovering more jewels in the Nightwish songbook with you. Suggest strongly that you experience their tribute to Pink Floyd's High Hopes. Supposedly praised by members of Pink Floyd. -- Party on.
"saw" them for the first time ever in December, and even tho I got stuck somewhere in the middle of the crowd and I could barely see the screens..... the atmosphere was awesome, and Floor's voice just takes you Gonna see her in May on her solo tour and then in June the whole band again at their last German concert (for a while)....They're taking a break, from touring
I liked your comment on this being like a theater, because Tuomas Holopainen(band's keyboardist/song writer/composer and arranger) wanted that feeling especially in this Imagenerium tour.
I think the main difference from other metalbands is that NW is (mostly) very positive. The feeling from listening their music (not to mention seeing them live) is just so overwhelmingly amazing and uplifting ❤
Nightwish are epic, I only heard them a couple of years ago. I am disappointed I never got to Wacken to see them. I watched the concert and what a show, ten years ago!
You have sooooo much more to explore about Nightwish, you will love it,waiting for another songs from this special concert and also I want my teras back from Buenos Aires
It's time you heard Marco ;) 1st - Nightwish: "Ghost River" (Wacken 2013) Also - Nightwish: "Romanticide" (Wacken 2013) BTW - Nightwish is a finnish band (Used to be all Finnish members) but Floor is Dutch (but lives in Sweden) and Troy (Whom you havent seen yet, is the Swiss Army Knife of musicians. He can play anything and sings) is from England. Oh Floor is the 3rd singer. Tarja Turunen was the original (Tar-ya. Pure operatic power). Then there was Annette Olzon. She was more poppy. So I guess you can say its the Goldilocks effect. 1st was too hot. 2nd was too cold, Floor, is juuuuuust right. Enjoy the NW journey! This is just the tip of the iceberg ;)
If you like pink Floyd, then you have to hear the tribune nightwish gave to them by playing their song high hopes!! It is awsome even gilmour has Gilmour has Stated that he was blown away by it! In the best positive way ! Nightwish "high hopes"can't go wrong with that and i am sure you guys will be amazed!!
Listen to it on a daily basis...? Tell you... >> I worked as a gardener over the past 4 years and believe me or not: I listened to the entire Wacken 2013 concert at least 150 times! It never gets boring; never!
Greetings from Finland. I have listened NW from the start and with every new member they have got something new to play with. Tarja-era is ofc nostalgia trip for me, Anette is great in her own thing, but with Floor NW has gone to the stars.
My favourite band of all time was Pink Floyd too. I used to listen to them most often, although not every day, and spent many years learning to play the guitar trying to replicate Gilmour's sound and technique. (Highly unsuccessfully, I must add!) Last October/November(ish) I discovered Nightwish for the first time. Since then, I've listened to them pretty much every day. Unfortunately, I've yet to experience them live myself. I came close when they did the UK part of their tour last November/December, but logistically couldn't get to the concert so I missed out. And now we may have a bit of a long wait as they announced last week that they're taking an indefinite break from touring and won't even be touring their new album that they are releasing later this year. It's a shame, but to be fair, they've been on the road for most of the last year, so I think they deserve a break and some time with their families! Hopefully in the meantime, Floor will find the time to get to the UK to promote her solo album and I'll get to that one instead. Although I think for the foreseeable future she may be a bit busy...
I don't really listen to Nightwish outside of reactions and I've seen Nightwish live and it was awesome (obviously) . So I get it when you're saying I wouldn't listen to it daily.
As for your question 'Is that a BC Rich?' The answer is no. Marko plays Warwick basses. Emppu plays a custom ESP EV-1, based on the Horizon model.(EV are his initials). All of the songs at this show were written for one of the first 2 lead singers (Floor is the 3rd). This song is from the 2nd singer, Anette Olzon, era. She has more of a pop/rock style, operatics aren't in her wheelhouse, so a choir did that part. Floor took it over because she can. You asked about operatic vocals, original lead singer, Tarja (Tar-ya) Turunen is the most operatic of the 3. Heavier song? Romanticide from this show. And growls, Yours Is an Empty Hope from Wembley 2015 show. And Floor says she is 183 cm (just a bit over 6')
Your silence right after the song, was the loudest comment. Enjoyed your reactions. Enjoy the racbbithole, tuomas made every feeling a sound. Lots to explore!
When Tuomas had Tarja
He had a Stradivarius
When Tuomas had Anette
He had a Steinway
Tuomas now has Floor
He now has the whole freaking Orchestra!
I understand what you are saying. My major dose of Nightwish comes every Friday or Saturday. Open a beer and find reactors finding the rabbit hole.
If Pink Floyd is your favorite band, you absolutely HAVE to watch their tribute to Pink Floyd's HIGH HOPES. Watch the "End of an Era" live version. You can thank me later. :)

Marko OWNS it.
I concur!
Hahaa😂😂, exactly thank you later 🎉😂❤

One of these two songs definitely should be your next choice. Heavier and both have a small surprise.
You definitely need to see them live!! (I did 😊, awesome!!)
You’re just getting started. This band has so much more you’ve yet to discover.
Any show from this 2013 concert is amazing!
You ain't seen nothin' yet! I gets better from here!!

Enjoy.

"saw" them for the first time ever in December, and even tho I got stuck somewhere in the middle of the crowd and I could barely see the screens..... the atmosphere was awesome, and Floor's voice just takes you
Gonna see her in May on her solo tour and then in June the whole band again at their last German concert (for a while)....They're taking a break, from touring
I liked your comment on this being like a theater, because Tuomas Holopainen(band's keyboardist/song writer/composer and arranger) wanted that feeling especially in this Imagenerium tour.
Saw them live in NYC last year - they were absolutely phenomenal!!! 🤘🤘
Yes keep going 🤘
Loved your reaction ❤ Nightwish is amazing ❤ from South Africa 🇿🇦
I'm so lucky - I have TICKET to their Kitee gig.
Loved your reactions. I hope you continue on this Nightwish journey.
I think the main difference from other metalbands is that NW is (mostly) very positive. The feeling from listening their music (not to mention seeing them live) is just so overwhelmingly amazing and uplifting ❤
Great reaction, if you are following Gabriel's list you are in good hands. MORE PLEASE.
“Fuck Celine Dion!!!” You have no idea how, as a Canadian, how much I so fucking applaud that comment!!
Nightwish are epic, I only heard them a couple of years ago. I am disappointed I never got to Wacken to see them. I watched the concert and what a show, ten years ago!
I need NW daily but specifically Storytime I especially need daily...lol Great reaction.
You have sooooo much more to explore about Nightwish, you will love it,waiting for another songs from this special concert and also I want my teras back from Buenos Aires
Hello, beautiful reaction, thank you, greetings from Poland
It's time you heard Marco ;)
1st - Nightwish: "Ghost River" (Wacken 2013)
Also - Nightwish: "Romanticide" (Wacken 2013)
BTW - Nightwish is a finnish band (Used to be all Finnish members) but Floor is Dutch (but lives in Sweden) and Troy (Whom you havent seen yet, is the Swiss Army Knife of musicians.
When ever I think of Troy I hear "I forgot my pipes" in my head 😂
If you like pink Floyd, then you have to hear the tribune nightwish gave to them by playing their song high hopes!!
It is awsome even gilmour has Gilmour has Stated that he was blown away by it! In the best positive way !
Nightwish "high hopes"can't go wrong with that and i am sure you guys will be amazed!!

And lyrics with message. Metal mozart tuomas❣️
I seen them last May in Massachusetts. Flew half way across US to see them . Best damn concert I've ever seen ! ❤
yes!!!, thanks
Looking forward to following you along your Nightwish reactions journey!
My favourite band of all time was Pink Floyd too. I used to listen to them most often, although not every day, and spent many years learning to play the guitar trying to replicate Gilmour's sound and technique. (Highly unsuccessfully, I must add!)
Last October/November(ish) I discovered Nightwish for the first time.
